I get the whole nostalgia bit, but if that was the reason they could have just made a casual mode of it.  They full on took the time to recreate one of the most mind numbing ladder climbs this game has seen and made a ranked game mode for it.  I get the trying to bait old players back... to play a game mode which was the reason they left...(???)

The same rotating games of rogue, druid and warlock and the rare warrior or hunter who I can only assume queued by mistake.   There's a reason people were starved for Naxx, this meta was shit.  What is really the point of bringing back the same 4 refined decks to see who can top deck better?

I don't play ranked modes at all anymore, so i'm sure that's true, but I'd argue bots in casual is equivalent problem to bots in ranked... and just especially weird since they don't seem to really have any function.

Hello hello hello... In wild casual today I played against 4 straight bots.  I've noticed these types of bots here and there, but since the expansion they seem to be everywhere.  I really don't understand the point of them.  It doesn't seem like anybody is trying to build any legit account with them.  They are all basic decks and clearly automated.

Has anybody else seen battletag names like these in casual?  They are always 7 character names of random numbers and capitalized letters.  Curious how big of a problem it actually is.

"Give us faster games"? "pressing that End Turn button for the first 4 or 5 turns while nobody does anything"? "JUST GIVE US CARDS WE CAN SPAM ON THE BOARD."? The meta right now is almost nothing but Patches the Pirate and Corridor Creeper and a win on turn 7.

Sorry, I guess sarcasm isn't always covered in reading comprehension.

More buff cards, there's hardly any in this game.

Why isn't there a single 0 mana 5/5 in the game.

More expansions with 2 or 3 cards that are just auto include regardless of the deck or class people are playing.

Fewer deck archetypes and variation.  Every expansion this year should really narrow down the play to 20 or 30 viable cards, too many cards is so confusing, who is ever able to figure out which one to netdeck.

Also, please give us faster games, my brain hurts trying to use these cards that take forever to play.  I'm tired of just pressing that End Turn button for the first 4 or 5 turns while nobody does anything.  Just give us cards we can spam on the board.

posted a message on How to fix the ranked meta bias towards faster games

Uninstall Hearthstone or somehow magically create an age requirement.  Essentially, there will never be a change to the latter meta.  There hasn't really been in 4 years.  It's only going to get worse as newer and budget players will be harder to recruit and keep, so they need to print dumb cards they can craft easily for their netdecks.

This is exactly why Blizzard is creating 0 mana 5/5's and ridiculous early tempo synergy, that's how ranked play will always be.  Frankly, that's how it's always been.  It's just gone from murlocs and budget zoo from the beta days to stupid efficient board states by turn 4 or 5.

The only way to slow down the meta is to stop printing broken early cards and making every card a buffing card, which encourages that kind of play.

I suppose they could completely change their business model as well.  Launch expansions at a single and reasonable cost, which would perhaps entice more people to buy a set and have all the cards.

Thanks for sharing your stats! How come you didn't choose the 60 pack option instead? It's the better deal. Also is it really worth crafting cards that aren't good enough to play in a competitive deck?

40 pack is the limit when you're using Amazon coins, which overall saved $100
Also, not everybody tries to play competitively.  There are some who just like to try to have fun, play meme decks, etc.  I haven't played ladder with any effort beyond card back maintenance since GvG for example.

posted a message on What about your legendaries drop rate?

out of a 404 pack sample size, 21... so 19.23 packs per legendary

20 packs per has been pretty much the staple average since beta

posted a message on Error 404 - collection incomplete (Analysis of 404 KaC card packs opened)

How many card packs does it take to actually get a full set of a 247 card expansion?  More than 404 packs... in other words, 2,020 cards opened.

After mindlessly clicking on 5 cards and hitting space bar for a numbing amount of time, I completed opening 404 packs.  These packs were acquired using the following...

    8 x 40 packs from pack purchase

    1 x 50 packs from pre-order

    34 x 1 pack from saved gold

After consulting the Innkeeper to see my new glorious KaC collection, it appears I'm still 5 epics (2k dust) away from a complete set.  I don't have any particular feelings on this one way or another, but it seems like this could be a bit of a problem for the game.  I'm not suggesting any game is every truly F2P, but how long would it take a player to get over 40k gold to purchase 400 packs that would still not yield them a complete set.

Granted I had 17,870 dust to finish off the set, but it still seems a wee bit silly for open over 2k cards and not have a full 247 set.

I did get every legendary though, which makes that drop rate 19.23 packs/legendary (21 legendaries in 404 packs), which seems on par for most of Hearthstone's history.  Although, only 1 golden legendary, feelsbadman.

    Some fun facts...

31 of the rares i got 9+ each

10 of the epics i got 4 each or more (keep in mind i still needed to craft 5 epics i didn't get)

You will receive a Violet Wurm every time you open a pack, value!

After cleaning up my collection, disenchanting non-golden duplicates, I ended up with 19,340 dust.  And PS, I know that 19k dust is plenty enough to negate many of the packs I opened, I know you don't need to open 400 packs to actually acquire a set, but that wasn't really the point of the exercise.

Every expansion there's a lot of talk about the "cost of Hearthstone" and accessibility for new players.  It is a legitimate concern for the game, and it compounds with every new content release.

posted a message on Is this the worst meta ever?

If you have been playing since closed beta and think this is the worst meta ever, you have an extremely poor memory.  You may want to look back and the history of Hearthstone and take cold comfort with the prospect that frozen throne has been one of the best expansions in awhile.  I never expected to say that myself, but alas it is true.

posted a message on Classes you now hate that you used to love

This is easily Priest.  GvG was that last time Anduin was remotely fun to play as.  Which is what this game is supposed to be, fun, yeah?  According to Blizzard anyway.  It wasn't a competitive class, I don't think it ever was meant to be since it never has been, so it was the LoLcow of HS.  You never felt too bad when you faced Priest RNG,  because hey it's Priest,  at least let them have that; and it was usually pretty fun to get a goofy Trolden worthy moment with RAnduin shenanigans if you were the Priest.

Now that Priest RNG isn't viable because a) it's not fun RNG b) every class has some kind of BS "can I haz RNG 2?" c) it's no longer to possibly win while just trying to have fun as well.

In a lot of ways Rogue does a lot of the same things now old Priest used to only do, and it does them better than Priest currently, at least to the extent both players could still enjoy the game without feeling like eff that predictable secret agent coming thru 4 times a game.

that should tell you something about the state of the game... when they are giving away a ticket for a mode nobody wants to play anymore.  just think about this for a minute.  sure they made some server changes to effect arena balance or whatever, but they are having to give away free runs to entice you to play a mode which you probably won't like.  that's like a free bottle of warm terrible beer, just sadness really.
