Just got my first 12 win deck since WotOG came out, and it was a 12-0 Paladin. Every single card in this deck pulled its weight at one time or another, and I managed to draft a perfect curve. The last two fights were both over in 7 turns. Closest I came was at 8-0 a rogue got me down 30-7 before I came back and squeaked it out with 2 health left.
If you have a strong control base for the early turns, hungry dragon is great. I'll only draft it if I already have 6+ 1-2 drops in my deck (and a handful of 3s), or if the other options are all god awful, but I've had tremendous success with it of late simply due to being able to ensure I have another minion on the board to kill whatever the dragon spawns for the enemy player.
First time taking a warlock to 12. At 11-1 and 11-2 I faced the same hunter, who manhandled me something awful the first time, but didn't have as strong a draw the 2nd go around. I played this deck for total board control and it handled beautifully.
I always mulligan'd for drops on curve, but would keep cult leader or Blessing of Wisdom if I got it because of the otherwise anemic card draw in the deck.
Just make the timer 10 seconds per available mana, capping at the current 70 seconds. Problem solved. I automatically assume my opponent is an a-hole if they take more than 20 seconds to play in any of the first 3 rounds.
Yeah, the net cost of overload is always above curve. There are a few overload cards worthwhile (weapons, thunderstorm, firelord, lightning bolt), but for the most part casting anything with overload is just gimping you down the line. Add to it that the Shaman hero power is innately RNG-based, and you can see why it's generally considered a very weak class.
Windfury and Bloodlust, the two best weapons in the Shaman arsenal, both require a board in order to be at all effective. That makes it very hard to pull off a win in the current meta.
My opponent played Madder Bomber. The bomber's battlecry killed the scientist, which caused Mirror Entity to be pulled out of my deck and put into play.
After the battlecry finished, the Mirror Entity proc'd, spawning a Madder Bomber on my side of the board.
This seems like a bug. The Mirror Entity was not in play at the time that the Madder Bomber was played, but rather came into play during the battlecry of the bomber. I guess battlecries actually happen "as a card is being played" as opposed to "as a result of a card having been played?"
Anyway, now you know about this card interaction. Pretty unexpected!
The answer is no, he's not the best card in arena by any means. There are a lot of cards better than him, like the ones Jappert84 mentions (I'd also add Foe Reaper 4000 to that list).
That doesn't mean it's bad. I think Deathwing can be really good, you just have to use him very carefully. Depending on the opponent, there are times when you can simply drop everything you have in hand to force him to do the same, creating a situation where both of you lose about the same amount of cards when casting Deathwing. Other times you just play your normal game and he sits in your hand offering you a reset button, a last resort for when you lose the board.
This is actually how I'm playing him in this run. I just hold him in my hand and use him as a last-ditch board clear when all other options are available (why on earth would anyone play him any other way?). It's true that he's easily removable, but if you're holding him until there's no other option, the odds are good that your opponent either has to rely on topdecking or is going to win anyway.
For me, I have a very aggro-esque mage deck that seriously lacks in the late game, so I just try to get my opponent down as quickly as possible, let them make all the trades, and then bang! Deathwing FTW. I've been playing since the game's official release, and it's the first time I've ever had him in arena. I honestly like him more than Ragnaros. Ysera has been a great card for me, but she doesn't turn losses into wins in the way that Deathwing does. He's just so much swing for one card.
I am playing my first arena run where I have a Deathwing, and I have to say: I think he's the single most powerful card I've ever used in arena. Complete game changer across the board (literally). Knowing I can drop him changes how I play every other card, changes whether I go face or trade, and changes whether I hold my removal or use it early. I can't think of another card that just flat out wins games like this guy, even when you're facing otherwise certain death on the next turn.
Anyone else have good deathwing experiences? Got a different card you think is better? I'm a hardcore arena player and I'm frankly stunned by his effectiveness, despite having been beaten by him in the past.
As others have said here, anything above 3 wins is above average. That being said, as I've improved in arena, I've stopped being satisfied with lower scores. Now I expect 5 wins as a minimum, and I'm happy with only 7+ (the "infinite" loop).

Really great, no frills deck. Thank you!

Just went 12-0 with this Arena Paladin, full write-up in the deck link.

12 win Paladin with zero consecrates!
Despite the lack of consecrates, this deck ran roughshod over half of my opponents, offering them absolutely no chance whatsoever. Avenge turn 1, Micro Machine turn 2, Wolfrider, Ironfur Grizzly, or Coghammer turn 3 to protect the Micro Machine, and then Blessing of Kings or Truesilver Champion turn 4 to keep him going meant my Micro Machine got to 6+ attack power almost every time he came out.
I always mulligan'd for drops on curve, but would keep cult leader or Blessing of Wisdom if I got it because of the otherwise anemic card draw in the deck.

Oh wow, yeah, the troggs are clever. I think I'll replace my snowchuggers with them in my deck. Well played!

Here's the deck I built for this. Combo/Control mage. Very effective so far! Also, I got King Mukla from my pack.

Interesting. Thanks for that info; forewarned is forearmed.
