I hardly ever post comments on these, but I have to say, without making any substitutions on this deck, I've absolutely thrashed people with it.

If you "Semi-commit" to a full board, you're going to have a lot of Priests scratching their heads as to when it's the right time to Psychic Scream or not. Even took out a spell hunter after a poor opening and mid-game.  It's a lot of fun to play this, and you'll find that a lot of people just don't know what to expect here.

posted a message on (Guide) ULTIMATE Dragon Priest (Rank 15-5)

I want this deck to work, because Dragon Priest is probably my favorite archetype of the last 3 years I've been playing.  That said, aggro gives me the stomp 90% of the time here. Also, I am confused by Eternal Servitude in this deck. The only minion I've found revive worthy so far (or at least the only one where it made sense for me), was Tar Creeper to annoyingly slow down a Hunter who got a quick start. Might replace it with a second Death.

posted a message on Average player that never broke rank 11, flirts with Legend...

    ...kind of.

I don't post often but wanted to say that the guide posted by the forum member who finally made legend is excellent.  if you haven't read it, do so.

That being said, this month was a bit unique for me, and wanted to share my experience.

I have never broken rank 11 before.  I play a ton of Hearthstone (casually), and watch many pro streamers, but things just never clicked.  I have always gone on tilt, gotten angry at RNG, and then I switched up decks with every game just trying to find something that would wreck an opponent by turn 5.  Yeah, I eve tried the cancer of pirate warrior, and it was fun for a bit.  But when it fails, it fails hard, and it's almost embarrassing.

Back about 2 years ago I nearly broke into rank 10 with the old Undertaker and/or Face Hunter deck.  In fact, I might have gotten to rank 10 but it was so short-lived that I can't even remember for sure.  Over time, and after hundreds (probably a few thousands) bucks spent on cards, something snapped in me this month where I decided it wasn't worth getting angry over, to laugh a bit at the RNG and to most importantly:  STICK TO A DECK I LIKED AND REFUSE TO TURN MY BACK ON IT.

I did this with Dragon Priest.  I went on some bad losing streaks and teetered around rank 11 as usual.  I somehow managed to get rank 9 and I thought I better just quit and accept my rank 9 treasure chest.  This was yesterday.  But, more importantly than anything else, I was having FUN with dragon priest, laughing off the losses by turn 4 to warrior or to a board full of 8/8 and higher Jades.

I decided to keep playing.  I hit rank 8.  Then 7.  This has to be the end, right?  Everyone's so much better than I am.

But I was wrong.  I quit tonight to start drinking for New Year's but I will enjoy a rank 3 treasure chest tomorrow.  I was even one star away from rank 2, but a few people got the best of me and I've decided to lay down my guns.  If I had more time, I'd have tried to push through to legend.  Never did I imagine that I would EVER have a shot at it-- but now, I've learned a few things:

1- stop tilting.  I used to play poker for what were pretty high stakes for a college kid- winning or losing 3,000-5,000 dollars per night.  I was good because I never played on tilt.  For some reason it took me almost 3 years of Hearthstone to cut this habit.

2- I stuck to the deck I liked.  I've always loved priest, even if it was weak at times.  Oddly, what drew me to priest as a class was the original Randuin deck.  I started to play Hearthstone then to troll, basically.  This month (really, the last two days), I just put my faith in Dragon Priest and rolled with it.

3- I didn't use my deck tracker for this run to rank 3, surprisingly, but more importantly than tracking I learned that it's important to put a LOT of effort into thinking about the opponent's next turn.  That leads me to point 4

4- In addition to thinking about the opponent, plan your moves 2, 3 turns in advance.  Have backup plans, if possible.  Take some chances.  I took some of Trump's videos about board control perhaps TOO much to heart, and because of that I have always had the mindset of clearing minions before going face.  This wasn't even Trump's lesson, but I have always had a phobia about some harmless 1/1 getting buffed and taking out my 3/6 4-drop.  This really makes no sense and only limits your options in the end game.

5- Have some fun.  If you get spanked, throw your opponent a "well played" and concede or let them throw down their ridiculous BM for lethal.  I used to have a habit of rage quitting.  I don't know why, but I got over it, and it made these last two or three days a blast.

6- Believe that you can do it.  You can climb to the better ranks.  Trust me, if I can, anyone can.  Yes, I have been studying the game somewhat passively for a few years, and we all have our moments where the game feels like a rigged RNG mess, but in the end, through some level-headed play and forethought, you'll find yourself on some streaks and you'll get to ranks you never thought possible.

Next month, I look forward to writing a similar post about my noob self making it to Legend.

    Happy New Year to all.

Seems to be quite the contrary since you're so arrogant to think anyone who is annoyed by something that you don't care about is just a kid and can't handle it. There's a difference between not being able to handle something and wanting something to be different that they just don't like.

Wait, what?  I was just saying that emotes don't put me on some kind of rage-quit tilt during the games...something a "kid" might do.  What, getting so angry at a game isn't childish?  Please.

I like it. I mean sometimes there's big RNG going on and it's fun to just say 'wow', hehe. That doesn't have to mean something negative. It's your choice to see it however you want but if you feel like those emotes are all ment in a negative way, then I'd suggest to just stop playing multiplayer games since it's more your own problem.

Ah yeah, but I don't get offended by any emotes bro, even back in the day when some dipshit would do a 10-card BM and emote "sorry" in between every 2 or 3.  I actually used to use "sorry" when I, for example, would mis-click the end turn button and leave the opponent hanging through a rope.  Emotes aren't that miserable but when you have people emoting to the max every single turn, it's just a bit annoying.  Tis all.

...and "wow" winds up meaning the exact same thing, and people emote about 200% more often now.

Anyone else squelching everyone these days?

posted a message on Possible bug w/ C'Thun, Eadric the Pure, and Twin Emperor Vek'lor
    Quote from HyperNova >>

Not really a bug just a strange interaction. The buffs for any C'Thun are attached to the player so twin emperors take into account the largest possible C'Thun that theoretical exists not necessarily the current one on the board.

I thought about this more since I posted, and I understand the point-- that C'Thun is in essence a static entity or whatever.  However, the text of cards cite that you give buffs to it "wherever it is".  Those places include:
    • In your deck
    • In your hand
    • On the board, in play
    • Dead (and can be resurrected by that one card, or a few cards maybe...whatever)

So I understand the concept that allows for him to retain his buffs.  I sapped C'Thun once and when it was replayed, it kept its buffs (I did expect that one, I just wanted him off the board and really had no choice but to sap him and play a few minions to try and stave off lethal).

However, if the card texts attribute power to C'Thun "wherever he is", then it would make sense that his attack value is his attack value "wherever he is".  If he is played, then Eadric'd, his state is "on the board", with stats of 1/X.  If C'thun attacks after his attack power has been changed (Eadric, Aldor, and a few other interactions), it's not like he'd deal his original buffed damage, right?

I just think the interaction should be looked at a little deeper.  C'Thun interactions are already strong, and if you can give opponents a chance to deal with him outside of hard removal or an opposing C'thun, I think it would lead to more interesting matches-- more tactical ones, at least.

posted a message on Possible bug w/ C'Thun, Eadric the Pure, and Twin Emperor Vek'lor

So I tried out a control deck, and played another control warrior.  We both took it to the end, both had Elise, you know the deal.

I get out my Golden Monkey at fatigue and pull 3 legendaries.  One was Eadric the Pure, rest were trash.

He plays his C'Thun the turn after Monkey, I then drop Eadric, making his C'Thun a 1/14.

He proceeds to drop Twin Emperor Vek'lor and it procs the battlecry (if C'Thun has at least 10 attack, summon another Emperor), yet, his C'Thun only had 1 attack from Eadric.

Any other oddities with regard to C'Thun we should know about?  It's not that anyone's going to be playing Eadric these days, but with Elise it's of course possible, and who knows what people might come up with in time with regard to how they deal with C'Thun.  This just seemed so odd, and wrong.

posted a message on Priest of the Dragonlord - Now 100% Less Theoretical!

Mind you I've only played once with the deck, but N'Zoth proved quite valuable.  Was able to Brann out my Curators and play many low cost, but valuable deathrattle minions.  It helped that I also entombed a Raptor from a rogue that had some buffs on it, so I removed a serious threat and was able to use the card again myself as +1 deathrattle minion.

To be honest, the deck is strong enough w/o N'Zoth, at least in my one trial.  Drawing N'zoth just made it win more at that point.

posted a message on Any plans to mitigate server overload?

So, we all know that whenever an expansion hits, some kind of mega debacle occurs that basically screws the entire community over for 20-40 hours.  Packs bought but not showing (GvG), servers down, etc.

Over the past weeks/months has Blizzard announced any kinds of mitigation for launch night?  It's the 26th for me, but I figure this will be available in about 2 hours when the west coast hits midnight.  It would be delightful to know whether I should stay up (don't even care if I can't play, just wanna open my packs), or if I can go to sleep and say screw it for the night.

    Thanks!

posted a message on Reno Jackson glows!!!!

I love Reno, but this is moronic.  If a player chooses to throw some dupe card into a deck, it's up to them to remember what they've played and whether or not you can activate him or not.  I understand deck tracker could feasibly do this for a player too, but that's been OK'ed by the HS team.  I suppose in hindsight there isn't much difference between doing it through DT or by way of Hearthstone making the card glow, but it still feels off to me.

posted a message on What am I doing wrong?

A lot of the advice here has been good, man, but I've got nothing to add since I'm mostly like you.  I play casually, though I've invested a ton of cash and time in the game-- just never got over that "Hump".  One season I came 1 win away from hitting rank 9, but never again.  I think since then I may have hit rank 12 once.  Typically I hover between 12-15, and it's frustrating.  Just keep at it-- i think the best advice so far is to stick with a single deck, through thick and thin, that will always be strong in any meta (control warrior, dragon priest, druid).
