I prefer run 1 of this card than 2 Conjurer, save 1 deck slot for a cheap alternative, Conjurer is good but die easy and give you only one spell, the discover is better than random but is very hard to get 3 bad spells from mage.
Yes, it is, have the best power random of Fireguard, 1 more health and the down of extra overload can more easy around because have four cards to desblock crystals now.
I don't see much play outside the new mechanic of evolve shaman.
I will put two of this card, two dragon 6/4 with cost reduces for minion dead and the new card taunt with reduces cost for totem summoned, is very easy to them evolve in big problems for opponent after them trade and injured.
The effect is pretty weak TBH other classes got better synergy with C'thun specially priest and druid.
But they don't have a hero power pratically garantee you will draw C'Thun, make all the slots free for buffs, minions and removals, not draw engine needed, it is a big deal with a legendary win condition.
Is 3 mana when removal is important, and this make a huge diference, and a better and cheaper heal when life is critical.
Bite is like a duck and this card is like a horse, a eagle, or a fish, Bite try to do many things at same time like a duck (run, fly and swin) but not efficient than a horse, a eagle or a fish when does only one thing.
Maybe play in shaman with the new evolve mechanic, do other stuff, don't play this in turn 3, the best turn is play free after a mass removal with 5 overload, trade for a minion 3 attack and then evolve with MoE or the new 1 mana spell.
I like this type of card, need sinergy and strategy, not OP bullshit like Dr. 7 is always good and brainless.

You trade 2 mana cost for a +1/+1 buff and versatility, pretty good in control but too slow in aggro.

Plus the buff, you have a chance to get a tech card in right time with this, like BGH when you have don't enough slots in deck.
