    Quote from Pythonproduct >>

The reason they generally nerf cards by just a stat point or mana is so that it retains the spirit of the card, and fulfills the same roll that it previously did. Changing how the card works just takes up design space, instead of nerfing a card to function differently, they could just release a new card that does the new effect. If it's a matter of something being op, nerfing the mana or stats generally works well enough. If it's a matter of bad design, then you'd rather it be nerfed to not be meta viable.

I think some cards should be nerfed though, especially in wild

Yeah, often the stat/mana changes do help to balance the card but quite often when a card has an effect that is very strong and unique the mana or stat changes either hardly make an impact or make it almost unviable, in my opinion

And yeah wild can get a benefit from some changes. The meta hardly changed over the last 2 years if not more. Which makes wild feel not so wild.

posted a message on Balance ideas for cards that I think are a little bit on the broken side and some thoughts about Blizzards card change ideology.

First of all, these ideas are based around wild and my personal observations and feelings.

Now to the main part. In my opinion, Blizzard is too reluctant in doing drastic changes to cards. This might be due to most of them being deemed awful and usless by the community. One such example is  Warsong Commander. A card that was redesigned and ultimately killed by Blizzard.  Because of this, Blizzard is more conservative in doing drastic changes. Slight stat adjustments and mana changes are the most often nerfs. A good nerf that Blizzard has made recently is Crabrider. The card is still strong but it is not as dangerous and bursty as it used to be and the overall feeling of the card remains the same even if for 1 turn.

Even though changing the card might make it a brand new one what if the changes were made while maintaining the theme but with an added drawback, just like Crabrider?

In wild there is a card - Raise Dead. Even though the card is balanced, it currently supports a very strong Warlock deck. Paying only 3 health and getting back 2 minions is very strong especially in decks that benefit from health changes. My idea is to make the card discard 1 of the given minions or maybe even both at the end of turn. This not only makes the card more challenging to use, but adds extra support for discard warlock. An archetype that Blizzard just can't forget about.

Another strong card that many people might find annoying is Shadowreaper Anduin. Again the card itself is not unbalanced, the main reason that players might find it too strong is Raza the Chained. Of course, Blizzard nerfed the card and ultimately killed the deck in the past but since it was un-nerfed it resurfaced yet again. My idea is to lower the hero power damage by 1 and maybe make it cost 1 mana. This change doesn't affect the Spawn of Shadows combo but it does lower the burst damage from the hero power by half and it makes it more board based than face is the place based which is more fitting for priest.

A Mage card that players are currently hating is Incanter's Flow. Honestly, this card has just terrible design. If this card is in the 1/3 of your deck it's basically usless, while if it is in the first 10 cards the card allows for huge tempo, value and damage turns. So how can we try to balance it without killing it or changing the mana cost? Well, 1 idea is that the spells only get the mana reduction till the end of turn. Another idea is to give it an opposite effect on minions, meaning your spells cost 1 less and your minions cost 1 more, maybe even 2 more. Lastly, it gives the reduction only to the first spell that you draw in a turn, but this change kills the idea of the card, so probably no.

Conviction or +3, +6, +9 face damage in a turn, funny I know, is another card that sounds and looks balanced but can lead to turns where you take insane amounts of damage from a board that could have been deemed weak by the other player. The only balance change that I can think of is to make this effect last till the end of turn. Even though the card is weaker at the start of the game it can still be used as a burst card and a good finisher card nonetheless .

Kigsbane is a card that if you get it early and you have some buffs for it then your opponent is probably dead around turn 5. Some nerf ideas that I had are reducing the charges to 2 or even 1, make it loose 1 dmg at the end of turn, make it loose 1 buff at the end of turn. I really like the card design and the deck archetype that it allows to make but currently it is only used either as another tool in agro decks or as a card that prevents fatigue damage in late game.

A lot of people find Tickatus to be a very unfun card to play against. Well so do I. Even though I use it in my Wild Warlock deck I always feel shitty when using it against my opponent. What if corruption made it so that both players discard 5 cards. Or if you discard 2 cards and the opponent discards 3 cards or maybe even just adding *dead* cards into opponents deck to make their draw weaker. The overall idea of disrupting your opponent remains the same just with a slight drawback to you as well.

I have more ideas but right now I just want to hear your feedback and ideas about what cards you see as problematic, broken or unfun and how would you change them.

posted a message on Honestly I don't understand why people play this game anymore.

Okay, honestly I find it really surprising how many people are just throwing insults and other such stuff here.

Only shows how great the game and the community is now if anything.

And for those who actually answered and described their thoughts without insulting, trash talking or saying "GET GUD". Thank you.

Now, there are some who clearly either didn't read everything or just didn't care to think about what I wrote. So I'll reinterpret what I have written before.

For more than years you've been going to the same exact food joint. Ordering the exact same food. Rarely changing the drink or the sides to go along with it. Maybe once in a blue moon you try something different. But it takes longer to be served, costs a little bit more or you have to eat it in a specific way, which is harder. And ultimately because of those reasons you continue to eat the same dish. Now the conclusion. How is eating the exact same food healthy and not sickening?

Now you get invited to someones home and they make their own dish and serve it to you. And you say it's garbage and that they are a terrible cook. While bragging about having way better food and saying to take culinary classes to the other person. While not knowing how to even crack an egg for an omelett (to drastic of a comparison, but considering what other people compared in this thread it will suffice). What would you call such a person?

And for those of you who said that deck building is a small part of the tcg... Are cooking skills a small part of life also?

Basically, there are people who don't know how to cook but want to enjoy quality food. While at the same time there are people that want to make their own dishes as good as possible. The problem is that a lot of the time the people that only want quality food have a higher opinion about themselves and are just claiming to be better *cooks* because they eat better food. And sure there are such people on the opposite side. However, in this thread the majority of negativity came from the *quality* people. The funniest part is that they think that the deck builders are the snobby and rude ones, when actually it's the opposite. And I invite you to reread the thread to make sure. The only time that I made any sort of insult is when I called people who play tier 1 decks in casual clowns.

That's basically what I've read in this thread.

I do use websites to find a fun new deck concept. I agree with that whole statement. But I never said that I am superior or my way of playing is the only fun way.

In terms of the whole not having certain cards or such stuff. I also agree and I know about that part of the game as well.

Now why I use the term netdeck. To save your time. Since you haven't got any time to spare to read or write - using a deck from a website.

And it's funny how you consider that I have a ton of time to make decks while you have to take care of your family, friends etc. Just so you know it does not take a ton of time to make a decent deck. If you know what you are building. And I also have family, friends and etc. to take care of , but hey.

You can't make the same cure to all types of disease...

What I mean is that you can't make a deck that counters everything.

And I can make any deck that I want. It's not an issue. I've been playing since open beta and I'm f2p. So suboptimal decks is not the reason...

posted a message on Honestly I don't understand why people play this game anymore.

First of all, I've never said that it's wrong to netdeck. I only questioned how much enjoyment is there in playing a deck that you have no part of making.(except for copying it)

Secondly, I've said that I know people find pleasure in different ways, but playing exactly the same thing for years? There's a nice Far Cry quote about that.

Thirdly, I've never said I'm a superior person or a great deck maker.

Fourthly, if it takes 1-2 hours just to build a deck then it only shows that you never build one before. You first think of a concept, then locate the cards that help you accomplish that concept and after that you may include tech cards depending on the meta. And the most important part is playing the deck.

Fifthly, the difference between the questions - copying a deck and not putting any thoughts into the cards you use is as follows. I copied a deck and used it, because it allowed me to win more. I don't know why I play this card in my deck but the website had it so it must be good.

Sixtly, I'm happy that you play your own decks.

And lastly, what superiority? The superior one is the one who wins. And I don't care that much about winning. I only care about having fun. But when even casual is filled with tier 1 net decks it's just kinda funny and sad.

Thanks for the kind words and deck ideas. But I probably should just take a break from HS as you've mentioned.

posted a message on Honestly I don't understand why people play this game anymore.

Making a deck and seeing how well it does against other decks, experimenting with different classes and archetypes, discovering a play style and cards that you enjoy is what makes TCG fun.

So what's the point in playing hearthstone then? I've been playing from open beta and every new meta I've tried to make my own decks, even if they were bad I tried to enjoy the building and experimenting part of the game to it's fullest. However, as more and more websites relating to HS sprouted and netdecking became more relevant, the huge aspect of experimenting and figuring stuff out on your own is completely dead. Playing against the exact same decks over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... Just killed any point in me trying to make something.

Can someone please answer me - "Is it fun to just copy decks from a website?", "Is it fun not to put any thought in the cards that are in *your* deck?", "Is it fun to play the same exact deck for more than a couple of years?". It can't be, right? Well...

A good example is secret mage. Really wish they would stop printing cards that support the archetype. And if you say - "Well, uhm the deck changed over the years" or "There are stronger decks out there", then you are a moron. For how long secret mage remains as one of the most popular decks in wild? And as for the other part, the deck just replaced cards for better cards that do more or less the exact same thing.  What's the difference between 1 card that can draw 4-6 cards and has a cost of 6 mana, and 2 secrets that cost 0 or 3 mana and can draw you 6 cards? The funny thing is people don't even know why secret mage doesn't run the weapon or the minion anymore. And again, for those of you that say that the secrets are just better - go back to netdecking. The answer is tempo, reliability, disruption, counterplay and symbiosis with other cards. Hope I don't need to digest and explain every part further, since this thread will become too long.

Now back to the main topic. I just can't imagine that someone actually finds it fun to copy a deck and then play only that one deck for more than a year. What's the point in playing then? Why not let someone else play the game or let the computer play for you as well, since you already undermine half of the game already.

I know this is salty and all. And everyone finds pleasure in different things. But I'm just really tired of playing and seeing more or less the exact same decks and loosing to the exact same stuff for years. Every time I play against a unique deck I stop caring about winning or loosing. I just try to figure out what their deck is and what are they trying to do with it. Nowadays, I'll be lucky to play against even 1 unique deck in a week. And the most hilarious part is, that people copy the strongest decks and play casual as well. The only thought that crosses my mind in such situations is what kind of clown am I playing against?

posted a message on What’s your lvl on new progress system?

I feel like there's a ton of bs in this thread. I have no tavern pass and I play every day for a couple of hours and I'm currently lvl 81. So I honestly can't believe that someone without a pass, who claims to play an hour or two per day is between lvl 100 -200. Feels really strange. Of course, maybe it's ok but from my experience it's bs. Also, the same situation was with the prior expansion. And i played twice as much for 4 hours minimum if not more, while still being behind *casual* players who played for 1-2 hours by 50 - 150 lvl, who again claimed to not have a tavern pass. So yeah feels like a ton of bs. But hey, itäs just my opinion.

And I play mostly ranked and bg.

posted a message on Did everyone forget about Blizzard claiming that there are special events for extra rewards in the new reward system?

Honestly, I'm just waiting till they implement something like a pack token to get the packs you want or a legendary/epic/rare card token which you can exchange for any card instead of receiving random ones at the start of each expansion, which can be most of the time usless, since the legendary itself is bad or you just don't play the class or don't have the cards to make a deck with it.
