Pros: Amazing The Coin target turn 1: trades with almost all 3 drops: Demon Synergy: Common rarity (Budget Players)

Cons: Risky at later stages of game: loses to lots of 2 drops when going second If you couldn't coin it out on turn 1.

vs a warrior with 63 effective life running a zoolock its over already, that situation would never be relevent, this guy typically only deals 3 damage to you but can completely takeover a game early. saying the cards bad becaause of this fantasy shield slam scenario is silly

Completly agree. All Star replacement for nerfed knife juggler for me, coin turn 1 into another turn 2 unanswered GG. Common too so great for free to play or budget players.

*sigh* guys please, what's so hard?

This ain't control. This is just trying to survive anything my opponent can do undisrupted. That's why you won't see cards like Healbot in other card games that make it to the top control decks.

No matter if they are viable in any meta, control decks are called control for this reason.

BECAUSE THEY CONTROL THE GAME TO THEIR MEASURES. NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A HIGH-END CURVE. THAT'S HEAVY MIDRANGE.

For the love of god it's simple.

Hi Skylarapas, what I think is that if we don't confront HS with other game, in Hearthstone there are some decks that have a control style in comparison with other decks. We can call it in many ways; to me this is the "Hearthstone control" that is not THE control.
He  is using a particular definition of control that makes sense to him. However, other people use another definition of control.
A control deck is just the slowest deck in the meta, where the emphasis of the deck is on card value. Beyond that, the play style is not really fixed.  For example, although healing is generally only a gimmick in Magic, control decks will use efficient life gain whenever it is available (Thragtusk, Corruption, Elixir of Immortality as a sideboard card, etc.). Therefore, you cannot make statements like "control decks do not use cards like Healbot".
Actually I can. They are not control decks. They are heavy midrange. You want to call them Hearthstone control, then it's fine. But you deeply know that you don't actually control anything at all.
I gave an example previously but it's the same logic. You play a deck that runs big threats? How do you play them? On late game. How do you get there? Survive. Now people confuse survival with control. No matter how much Health you gain if your opponent is free to play as he wishes then you're not controlling him at all. So I use Healbot on my "control decks" but they aren't really control.
I don't want to right again all my arguements, but at some point I said, that healing resources are used by control decks, but they aren't the catalyst that makes a control deck.
Real control decks can also win on turn 4. If I discard a good early card from your hand. Counter 2 more cards, then draw 2-3 cards. I won. I don't win by combat damage, but when you reach a point where you topdeck and your opponent who plays control has 5 or more cards and he is ready to answer your plays, then you lose. It doesn't take someone to be astrophycisian to get that. (Btw I hate people that reach this situation and don't surrender).
In Hearthstone the closest thing to control is the Post LoE Priest. Full of removals, mind control and stuff like this. Even Warrior can be considered heavy midrange, where he uses armor mechanics to survive through late game and then drop a crapload of legendaries and good cards like Shieldmaiden on curve. These are the closest things to control Hearthstone ever had. Renolock is just another midrange deck with a high-end curve.
    Understand these differences please.
Just let it go man or start a new bitching thread about what a control deck is somewhere else. meanwhile you have a paladin deck attachment called "Brann Control", but you just claimed the closest thing to a control deck in hearthstone is post LoE priest? Sounds a little backwards to me???? isnt that just Brann Heavy Midrange??

Guys,we seem to be looking way too far into the definition of a control deck. Hearthstone control is much different then other card games. I think its safe to say any deck that focuses on early game removal, efficient trading, and late game value can be defined as a control deck. midrange will of course lean towards more aggro or more control playstyle, but lets stop attacking each other over the definition of a control deck because this is one of the better opening discussions of this topic and its just steering towards "thats not control" "no, thats not control"

I said I'd complain about it, here I am complaining.

I'm honestly not sure this is fully balanced. It's a Legendary 8/8 for 9 so that gives me a bit of leeway to do something a bit crazy. That said, I'm not sure incorporating Frost Nova into the battlecry makes the card balanced, especially with all the Dragon synergy cards there are (I know most of those are based in the hand rather than on the field but I'm concerned mainly about the Dragon Consort). How could it be nerfed? Instead of freezing the entire enemy field, the battlecry could instead freeze a chosen minion and minions adjacent to it, but again, this is effectively adding a spell to a minion and while Cone of Cold also deals one damage to these minions, the fact you can control who gets frozen makes it just a little bit hard to justify. I guess in the end this is the best choice until it gets actual playtesting.

You could always go with the "if youre holding a dragon" route freeze all enemy minions. least youd have to actually hold a dragon as well. or you could lessen its health so classes have a chance to deal with it (keep it in bgh range) the strength of the card right now is its neutral and you dont have to have any other dragons in ur deck if you dont want to. love where its going tho, keep working on it

well said my brother. I prefer Control decks since magic the gathering. I do find control decks somewhat viable right now BUT... it seems when we win with a control deck we have to draw flawlessly and barely sneak out the win, but when we lose as a control deck its just instantaneous and brutal. Basically it seems like we can squeeze some control wins out by the skin of our teeth but if you dont have the perfect answers via draw or opening its just impossible against midrange and aggro. need a neutral "artifact" type board clear as well imo. Ive been theory crafting a weapon (a staff for classes that are currently non weapon classes, maybe even the first neutral weapon) it attacks like mages hero power fireblast but when the staff expires it clears the board somehow. Im just theory crafting guys so dont give me too hard of a time lol but we need something for control bad
