You can't tell me that getting Sacrificial Pact vs Lord Jaraxxus is not consistent? 100% killrate seems pretty consistent to me...

Blizzard obviously made Arthas not for F2P. It's ridiculous that F2P players expect everything. Yeah why not give everyone Golden Celebration cardback because we all play the game.. When you decided to be F2P you shouldn't expect to have everything wtf is wrong with some of you.

ArturVF89 posted a message on New player - Post Lev 10Posted in: Players and Teams DiscussionWelcome to Heartstone, pal!
On the subject of learning material, I suggest to all newcomers Trump's series on the basics, if you have not watched yet. It shows some nice basic decks while teching important concepts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KjtRokhpvM&list=PLvEIxIeBRKSjprrvlbAcbVjzHsnH9PjDX
The first "goal" you can try to set to yourself is to defeat the Inkeeper on the expert level. There are a few "hidden" quests you get extra goodies, you can see al in: http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Quest#General - This says you still get the legendary C´Thun and 2 Beaconers of Evil if you open an Old Gods pack, I am not 100% sure it is still on, but you should try to do it, even for a newby 100 G is not that much.
The first collection management tip I give you is: never desenchant any cards you do not own more than 2 of. You will feel tempted to do so if you get a legendary or epic you think is bad, but, on the long run, it will hurt your collection (pesonal experience: dusted a Far Sight I saw as a bad card, didn´t get to play some cool control shamman stuff).
The second think you should do is to get a free pack every week from Tavern Brawl. Even on the constructed ones, you should be able to win a game after a couple of losses.
The third is to maximize your gold from quests. You shoul always reroll 40g quests and avoid completing a 40g quest unless you already have 3 of those or is somthing inavoidable (eg 3 wins). I did some math, and I feel like you should also reroll the 50g, but that is more debatable: http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/general-discussion/183442-quests-how-to-maximise-gold-earning
On the subject of debatable stuff, I just realized that it might be a good idea to save money to but the first wing of Blackrock Mountain and League of Explorers. Those expansions will rotate out and, if Blizzard keeps their policy, the adventures will not be available for newer players. It might be too hard to spend your hard-earned gold on cards that will soon rotate out, but if you have the first wing, you will be able to buy the others eventually and experience the PVE content, which I find nice. This will give you a more complete collection on the long run, but will hurt you bad on the beginning. Totally up to you to decide.
I didn´t play that much arena on my first year of Heartstone, but people say it is the fastest way of growing your collection. I won´t give you advices on that matter because I don´t know the average winrate of newbies on Arena and I don´t feel confortable telling you to do something that might cause you to have negative return on your 150G investment. Anyone can help with that?
If you decide to spend any real money on Heartstone, I would advise you to get the Welcome Bundle first, since it gives you a nice return on your money, with a lot of classic packs and a "free" classic legendary. Besides that, there are also pre-orders bonus when expansions release. Depending on where you live, there is some kind of Amazon Coin promotion, but I never managed to use it here in Brazil.
You should also try to add people to play agains (feel free to add me!) and to watch/help you on your plays. Debating plays is always good, especially with people more experienced than you.
The final advice is: hava fun. Heartstone is a card game, your main goal should be feeling good while playing. It is harsh on new people and very unforgiving, even more if you play Ranked Ladder, but you shouldn't forget you are playing it to have fun. Don´t become another salty guy angry for not reaching Rank 10 on your first month of play.

Ehronatha posted a message on Share your tip for ArenaPosted in: The ArenaQuote from thebangzats >>Another tip that hasn't been mentioned by everyone else:
Slow. The fuck. Down.
I've seen so many opponents misplay and lose the game just because they didn't take the time to think over it.
Quick example: Opponent playing a Deathrattle minion, then an Unearthed Raptor, in that order within 3 seconds of the turn starting. "Mistakes were made," alright.
Check and recheck your move, consider other options, then execute it.
It seems so basic yet I've encountered many opponents who do this.Isn't that the correct order?1. Play Deathrattle minion2. Play Unearthed Raptor to copy the previously played minion's deathrattle.Remember, it's also important to slow down before you hit "Post Reply." -

Vultrae posted a message on To all you secret Paladins...Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from GromHellscream88 jumpI don't play secret paladin, but it doesn't bother to me to play against it. I love how much hate is always directed at the deck that is currently perceived as the top deck.
It's just ridicolous how 99% of hearthstone players can't figure out a good decklist on their own but just copy the deck that is popular at that moment, like autistic monkeys
Ok I agreed with your first point but don't ever use autism as an insult. It really just shows how ignorant you are. Not to mention the fact that it's incredibly childish and disgusting behavior.

Onenutmcgee posted a message on Is it time for block in Hearthstone?Posted in: General DiscussionMain reason games put their cards into blocks is due to the difficulty of finding particular cards. When the best deck involves cards that were last printed 10 years ago and costs $1000 PER CARD then it kind of limits who gets to really compete. Thus you block into newer sets that are easier to obtain and complete sets for the older folks who do have it all.
Rag isn't going to get any harder to obtain 10 years from now.
Meanwhile such limitations kill variety since..well.. isn't one of the big complaints about HS the LACK of available cards? Thus while a seperate block would result in different decks from before, those decks will be VERY few in number and won't change afterwards. Jeesh we're still seeing people make alterations of the current decks because there's that one card people have forgotten that might work. For individual tournaments, it's an interesting idea ...later, once we have more cards. For an overall standard for all of the games... not really.
I doubt the main reasons games put their cards into blocks is because the older cards are too rare. MTG does the block system to keep the meta fresh. This is also why they are changing their block system so blocks rotate out faster. Where blocks before would get 7-8 expansions, now they only get 5-6. And it isn't because of rarity. The problem is that certain decks would just rule the meta for a long time (I'm talking MTG). And only when thier main block rotated out would the meta finally make a drastic shift. Plus they have other formats that see play outside of standard. Modern is quite popular and includes a lot of cards (I don't remember the exact rules, I think it's something like 8th set forward, but I didn't verify that). But what is the modern meta like? It's very stable. Not much changes the meta. There are top tier decks that dont change much and every set that MTG releases always has like 5-6 (at best) cards that will see Modern play. Legacy is even more stable. You're lucky if you see 1 card per expansion that sees competitive play in legacy decks. It's simply that excellent cards have already been released and those formats can use them.
HS has what is essentially the same issue. Right now, everything is Legacy. Every card printed can be used. And that is OK right now. We're 2 large and 2 small expansions into the game. This is not a problem. The meta still gets fairly shaken up with the release of new cards. Yes, old powerhouse decks (Control warrior, freeze mage, face hunter, handlock) are still competitive, but there are new decks becoming viable every release. At some point, that will no longer be the case. The new decks either won't be competitive or the new cards won't really help out established decks that much. At that point in time, some sort of blocking system will need to be put into place or else the meta will get super stagnant. Still have a legacy format for those that want it, but most people like a shifting metagame. It's the reason Modern isn't as popular as standard.

Creepling posted a message on Brawl Week 1 - What was blizzard thinking?Posted in: Tavern BrawlQuote from Gurubashisushi jumpAnd it's not like I don't understand the strategy behind Ragnaros. I do understand it, but the problem is, that to pull off that strategy you need the absolutely PERFECT draw, otherwise you're trying to catch up, but never get the chance to.
Sorry to dissapoint you, but nope, you're just bad. Rag is harder to play, that's about it. You don't even necessarily need to draw into your powerful 2s and 3s to win in most cases.
Although there's this difference: as Nefarian, you can get a crazy starting hand which will just win you the game. As Rag - there's close to none auto-win starting hands.
What does that remind me of? Oh, right. Face hunter/Tempo mage/Old zoo vs. any kind of a midrange/control deck. As a golden Shaman - winning as Rag is way easier then winning as a midrange Shaman vs a face Hunter.
I believe 90% of Rag QQers are the FOTM aggro players. I guess you folks just should stay out of Tavern Brawl if you don't like to be on an aggro deck's recieving end.
Personally I find Rag fun to play. It's more of a challenge, and that's what Hearthstone is all about - whether you are capable of solving the puzzle or not. And yeah, sometimes it's that RNG that gets you.

Depends on the meta. I have days that I lose 10 straight. I quit, then the next day I win 10 straight with the same deck.
Usually if I lose 3 in a row, I make a change. But it's based on the meta. Were all 3 matches vs aggro? Were all 3 matches vs control? Sometimes I change and still lose 3, then change again. It's about finding the right deck for the meta during that hour. Sometimes it changes quite a few times during the same day.

I experience this all the time. What's even worse is that there are days, that I cannot win. I lose 6 straight, go to arena for 0-3, Go back to ranked and lose 4 straight. Punch the computer and go to bed.
Next day: Win 10 straight with the same deck. I haven't figured out why there are streaks like that. I've learned that I just need to get off that day, when I'm having one and wait for a day or two, Then the win streaks happen again. Usually happens about twice per month. /shrug

I log in on other accounts once or twice per month, just to hit 20 to get the card back. I sometimes level them up to 15, but don't really try. I would say that I probably play 10-20 games per month on those accounts. If I remember right, rank 17 put me in the top 48% of players. Seems ridiculous that I can be that high playing so few games.
If Blizz really wanted you to know where you stood, they would not count those accounts. But they count them all, so you can feel good about yourself and keep playing. If they told you that 80% of players were better than you, then you would probably quit. It's a mind game.

This doesn't hurt the game. Yugioh has done this over and over and the game continues on.
I'm the guy that paid $300 each for needle worms to be able to have fun and play them in a tournament. A couple of years later, they released them as commons. I didn't feel cheated since I had 2 years of fun times watching people get frustrated playing against them. My hobby money gives me fun for however long until I move on to something else. There's enough people that feel this way, that the game would be fine.

Thank you so much. Best laugh I've had all month.

So much salt over a card game? uggh.
He's not broken. I hear most people complaining about the 1 extra health. Really, that's the breaking point? This is a game. Much like life, learn to adapt or die. I play every class...depending on mood and strength. Never played priest much until now. Blizzard wants every class to be playable. The card makes the class playable, but not broken. The card does not win games. The card is not in every priest deck. It is strong and being played a lot right now, but will change in time.
Very few cards really need a nerf. I don't even think force and savage needed a nerf, but that's me. I learned to play around it and have an answer in whichever deck I decided to play. Keep the priests board clear so the dragon can't do much. Learn to trade with value, so that one play doesn't kill you. And for those that say he is played with a dragon in the hand 100% of the time....that is wrong. I may be unluckier than most, but I've had to play him quite a few times without a dragon. And you have to play some cards you wouldn't want to normally in order to have enough dragons, so the deck becomes weaker overall to include him.
Give the game time to develop. Maybe I just don't have as much salt because I have a life and only play a few hours per week. /shrug

I don't really think too much about the magic connection, but I can tell you that I played a whole lot less this month than in previous months. I hit legend 6 months ago, then just stopped at 5 each month, as the grind is not fun. The ladder is not a lot of fun when you see the same 6 decks over and over in 100 games.
This month I probably played 50-60 games and stopped at 10. I just don't have the desire to grind when it's not a lot of fun. The repetition and the RNG make it a grind more than having fun. Play something fun, you say? I have fun when I win. I am super competitive and when RNG means I can barely win more than 50%, I'm not having fun. In sports, I can control more of the outcome. Here, Yogg decides if I win or lose. Draws often decide a win or loss. Even when I win, it's not as fun, since it feels like I just drew better than the opponent. Is there skill? Absolutely. 1 out of 8 games (made up stat, but what it feels like) is decided by skill. Sometime I outplay the opponent and sometimes I get outplayed. I can see both sides. But often being outplayed, means I didn't think about my play because I'm watching TV and HS is just something to pass time while I'm sitting idle.
Vs was a great card game because it took focus and thought and very little RNG. Good/bad draws still happened, but it was less so, with the way they set the game up. Too hard for the masses they said. Pfft. It kept my interest. My interest in this is waning.

Stop playing for a few days and come back later. That's how I deal.

I just hit rank 5 this morning with zoo. It does depend on the day though. Somedays I see all priest and warrior and have to change decks, then a day or two later come back to zoo. Zoo works.
