Thanks for sharing your thoughts here everybody. Obviously he has no balls to take the challenge being a f2p player. He wont be willing to part with 200 packs worth of cash if he loses the bet. Not sure if he changes his mind later, the season is still young lol.
All i can tell is, he's just envious of some of us who spent money on the game and keep on associating our high ranks with our spenditure. Recently another mutual friend spent on 200 packs and asked us to set him a challenge for season. Seing as he is a new player (about 2 seasons experience) and that the june season only had about 2 weeks left, i told him to at least get r8. Well he got r10 in the end, and this friend of mind (the one mentioned in this thread) made fun of him, saying if he had 200 packs too, he could hit r5. Thus, the bet has been created. So now u see a bit of backstory here. Mind u, this fella has been playing regularly up until old gods expansion that he felt is too much to keep up. His personal highest rank is around r9 or 10 i think.
My friend keeps saying that as a f2p player, it's impossible for him to climb the ranking ladder. So he asks for 200 packs and says he can go r5 by end of this season. I'm like wtf? r5? with 200 packs? no effing way. So i lay down my terms:
I buy 200 packs for him. He must hit legend by end of the season.
If he wins the challenge, he gets to keep the 200 packs. No questions asked.
However, if he loses, he has to return the 200 packs, and buy me a nice seafood dinner.
What do you think? Is it fair? Would u take my challenge?
Now he's being douchey saying how it's not fair to him that he has to return the 200 packs if he loses. LOL. I'm like wtf? Are you trying to scam 200 packs from me? This is 200 packs, not 20 we're talking about here.
Well I usually don't post my 12 wins here anymore but this one is an exception. Why? It is the most unlikely deck to win 12-2 in arena. A mage without frostbolts, flame cannons, and fireballs. Once i finished drafting i was like 'dats it, im farked.' Played out like a shitty deck would in the early games and eventually arrived at 4-2, i was damn sure i'm going out with a 4-3 score after the next game. then,...well, take a look.
I must say all the wins are hard fought victories. Playing each game carefully by controlling the board, trading wisely, and not get too greedy near the finish line. Had to discipline myself to play it safe and clear all board presence. Explosive Sheep has been effective as a mini flamestrike during early game to avoid losing board control. Polymorph plays a huge role in the deck as it helped me get past many huge threats like sunwalkers, giants, and buffed up minions(blessing of kings anyone?). Using the faceless manipulator on an opponent minion before polymorphing them is a bonus. Bomb lobber again plays a big part of sweeping away 4 health minions during midgame. What else can i say?
Surprisingly, Foe Reaper only did some mowing in one game. In other games he rarely show up or i don't have the chance to play him. Notice that there isn't a single flame strike in this deck, so i guess the strong minions makes up for the lack of aoe. Minions that can deal instant damage to answer opponent's board are crucial... minions like argent commando, bomb lobber, and so on... early game is quite strong with 2 mana wyrms and zombie chow. when good hand, u can coin into secret or 3 drop minion.... flamecannon is OP too.
Strategy was simple, dominate early board, snowball from there. Hit face when necessary. Enhancomechano did some pretty sweet work by giving windfury to my sky golems and stormwind champ to propel me to instant lethal. Tundra rhino + webspinner/boar combo is pretty good too for the extra damages. No aoe clears like unleash but mc tech does the job just fine. Really surprised with this deck.
Reward was about 225g, 2 packs, and golden shrinkmeister.
Hi, im back with my 6th 12 wins arena run. this time around chose the Pala as i saw it becoming really strong in arena recently. lost the first match but then went on a winning streak until i hit 9-2. 12-2 the final score.
3 Consecrations really helped alot clearing early threats, and double consecrations for late threats. works really well with Archmage for the spell damage. micro machine also served me really well, keep him alive for a few turns and see opponent's hp drop fast. buff it with divine shields for max value. The rest is just board domination with cards that spawn tokens, like silverhand knight, razorfen, and mechanical dragonling... muster for battle too.
Back with my 5th 12 wins arena run. Yes, mage is too OP in arena. Can't go wrong with cards like leeroy and dr.boom. Of course, key mage cards like fireballs and flamestrike are crucial too.
Hey guys here's my 4th 12 wins arena run... this time, 2nd win with mage. All in all a very good balanced deck. Great and easy to control early game with plenty of low drops. Once u establish board, just hit face. Fel Reaver carried a lot of games, as the opponent always fail to eliminate him or put up a taunt. Even with taunt, i have Polymorph as my backup plan. And when they finally manage to kill my reaver, i usually have my Fireballs to finish it off. All games were quick and straight to the point. Very enjoyable run.

Does my pack qualify as the best pack ever? 3 legends (1 golden), a rare, and a common.

I got my first 12 wins with Hunter today! (8th in total)
Here's the deck:

Tundra rhino + webspinner/boar combo is pretty good too for the extra damages. No aoe clears like unleash but mc tech does the job just fine. Really surprised with this deck.
