true, but according to the latest VS report, Control Priest is dominating at high legend so maybe people are using Rin as a tech against control, since Tempo scared Quest Rogue away and Cubelock shouldnt have an issue with fast decks
I mean it is not that bad tho, it is a healthier meta than in other times. The positive tjing about WW is that Baku and Genn will only get better over time when more cards come to the game, and they will be in Standard for another 23 months so WW will hold its value over time. Decks are also fairly cheap compared to other times so that's positive too.
I agree that Blizzard might not be having the best times revenue wise: that's why (I assume) they had to offer 20 extra packs for the WW pre-sale and the 30 packs for 30 bucks (both things were unprecedented). I guess Blizzard is suffering from players abandoning HS for other CCGs due to other CCGs offering more freebies to stay competitive: Shadowverse, for example, gives you 90 free packs at the start, 20+ arena tickets and around 120 gold daily on average, the packs contain 8 cards and they state exactly the probability of getting each rarity (something Blizzard hasn't done, I assume because they vary those probabilities all the time to compensate for the freebies they give, whenever they do). Shadowverse's catch is that decks cost more dust and legendaries are not limited to 1-of but you can carry up to 3 copies (at double the dust price compared to HS).
In my case I cleared toki because Sneed gave me rotface who then gave me the guy that summons a minion every time the opponent plays a spell; then those guys became super beefy after future toki played like 3 spells in a turn, and I then just finished her off with anti-magic shell
I guess also knowledge helps: using a deck tracker can give you important information. Not to mention luck when opening packs: 50% of the people will average less than 100 dust per pack so their collection will be worse than that of the other 50%.
Hey guys I need an opinion: I want to splurge with a nice deck. My options and required crafts are:
-Murloc Paladin: need Tarim, 2x Warleader and 1x CTA. I like its consistency and the fact that 2 cards are evergreen and neutral.
-Spiteful Druid: need Keleseth and Leeroy (replaceable with the basic card). Both legendaries are neutral, and 1 is evergreen. I fear Keleseth will stop being relevant soon.
-Tempo Mage: need Aluneth. A Cheaper option but maybe Aluneth becomes a bad card.
-Quest Rogue: need Sonya and the Preparations. The preparations are evergreen and I might get my money back if they get nerfed (and maybe they will someday).
I like Murloc Pally because it complements my Cubelock's matchups: together they are only vulnerable to Even Pally. I consider myself a Druid and Mage main.
I beat it with Toki on the first run but got destroyed with Shaw on the final boss because of so much friggin transform spells and board clear, and Darius on the 7th vs the Splintergraft (friggin unkillable Giants). The secret is praying to RNGesus because Toki didn't play the reset spell so I kept my board all the time and roflmfao'd her face.
I don't like ranked that much but I piloted an Umbraless Cubelock easily to rank 10. Right now the mrta is a bit skewed against cubelock so I would take an off meta deck that competes with your niche ladder (maybe Rush Warrior that wins against the pallys)
I get your point but the issue is that Cubelock is antipopular so therr are classes with a high winrate that solely exist to prey on Cubelock (Quest Rogue) and people are teching against Cubelock because it is easier than teching against Paladin. If Blizzard nerfs Cubelock but leaves it strong enough to counter Paladin, it will lose popularity and the meta will reach anothet equilibrium
I think that you raise some valuable points and I'm glad that you are actively debating the state of Hearthstone and comparing it to other CCG's.
Here are my two cents:
I think that banish/remove from graveyard effects are needed in HS, but that would mean increasing the overall card power for classes with access to revive effects (Priest, Druid) because banishing stuff can bring down the power level of revive cards in general.
One thing people tend to forget, is that game developers do not only think about the effect of newly printed cards on the present state of the game but also about the long-term effect, since the developers usually design the cards several months prior to releasing (right now Team 5 could be brainstorming the cards for the expansion to be released in December 2018 or even April 2019) and they tend to release cards that are somewhat irrelevant for the present meta but become staples in future metas (after future releases). An example I can quote is Prince Taldaram, which was considered a trash card until KaC arrived with Cubelock, where it remained a staple card (even today it still is).
I think that there is a lack of specific interaction of each class to its own deck. I like playing Shadowverse because there are unique ways for each class to interact with its deck: be it the number of cards remaining, the number of cards played, the remaining health, etc. Sometimes I feel that HS has a less specificity when it comes to classes.
I like the Witchwood tbh; it has nice cards that flourish right now and cards that will flourish in the future. Maybe they are not the best carsd like in KFT bt at least we get to relax and play all 9 classes with a WR higher than 50% (i think) while we wait for the blockbuster in 4 months.
Eh, The Witchwood is a toolbox set. Toolbox sets aren't meant to look obviously impressive like, for example, a loud release like Frozen Throne will. Toolbox sets exist to sprinkle cool new toys for a wide variety of people to try over time. And I guarantee you over time more and more Witchwood cards will worm their way into various decks. This exact thing happened with TGT - set seemed kinda' shitty overall, then suddenly a while later various cards from it started showing up more and more here, there, and everywhere.
The reason a lot of people are initially disappointed with the set is simply because its big hooks didn't immediately detonate the meta like Quests and Death Knights did. But I bet you a very large percentage of decks out there have at least a single Witchwood card in them. And I bet if you take every single one of those single cards, you'll end up with a decent little chunk of the set. And I'd consider that a win to be quite honest with you.
thank you for prividing a reasonable opinion that sparks debate rather than flame war; it is quire rare in here.

Wait so now Cubelock is running Rin? Wut. Damn Cubelock is so expensive to play, always getting more expensive

Could you give me an scenario where Shaw is useful? I opened one but never used it

None for me lol. When I logged in all my decks became wild and I had to delete them all and start again #feelsbadman
