Yeah, this. I actually had 2 copies of Patches along with 2 Creepers, 1 Raza, and 13 Bonemares. It was an amazing feeling.

For those who couldn't bear to dust something, why not? You literally lose nothing by doing it since you can simply re-craft it later if need be. If you don't need to? Good thing you dusted it while you could get the max out of it.

So you think you are not a filthy casual, playing the most casual game out there? Where the difference between a good and a really player is a 3% higher winrate. The skill this game takes from you is lower than in every other game right now. So just by netdecking and playing the same mirror matchup over and over again and maybe losing to some pirates, you think you are a better player, whos not a casual?
I define the difference between "competitive" and "casual" to be the motivation for playing. I go in there with the first and only goal of winning the game whereas many others like to mess around with different ideas and "see what's possible". I have zero issues with those people but I never understand why they inevitably choose to come complain about the latest "cancer" deck.
Sure, Hearthstone is a casual game, mostly. There's a competitive structure but it's not the easiest thing to participate in and most people don't, myself included. That doesn't mean I'm not a tryhard when I do sit down to play. My only criterion for choosing a deck is whether it's the best deck/deck with the highest win rate. This is what I think of as a "competitive" mindset. The people who choose more creative and interesting decks are choosing those decks for different reasons than win rate. That sort of mindset is part of what I'm thinking of when I say "casual".
Don't put words in my mouth. I never claimed to be better than other players. I only claimed that I'm trying to make the best decisions and play the game well. Starting by choosing the deck with the highest win rate is the first decision you make on the path to winning more, yes?
Is the game too RNG and too low skill? Possibly, but that's a different discussion.

LOL I ignore the haters. Judging people by the deck they play is really immature.

It doesn't get more immature calling everyone who disagrees with you haters. Personally I have fond memories as a 10 y/o spending hours at my local gameshop shifting through the 10-50 cents MTG card bins figuring out what weird card combo's would beat my friends decks. Trying out weird stuff in HS is exactly what makes this game exciting to me and people like you are ruining it in standard, wild and even in casual in both formats.

I understand it sucks if the digital world is the only place you can turn to if you need personal confirmation, but please understand that there are people out there playing this game for fun as well.
So, yeah, winning is fun. Crushing peoples' skulls with Ultimate Infestation is fun. Not to be an @sshole about it but I don't play this game to concern myself with what your idea of a good time is. I don't claim that your "weird" combo deck is ruining my experience so don't claim that me doing what I want to do is ruining yours.
You are right. It is not up to me to decide what having fun in Hearthstone should entail, much in the same way you cant claim Justin Bieber would be somehow inferior to Mozart. It's only my own frustration about netdecking pirate warriors and jade druids who are discouraging creativity and exploration within Hearthstone. Then again, who needs stuff like creativity and exploration if you can just put on your favourite Justin song, copy a braindead netdeck and crush skulls like the rest is doing, right..?
You're equating netdecking to Bieber? That's awesome.
I get that you place a premium on the idea of building unique decks and seeing what's possible. Those sorts of explorations do get curtailed by Pirate Warrior, yes, but perhaps challenges against your friends would be a better arena for said explorations. There you know that it'll be more about the experience and less about winning/losing, which is all that the ladder is about.
Personally, I place a premium on playing the games optimally and executing a game plan flawlessly. I just want to make all the right decisions and the first decision you make is what deck to play. If I'm going to make the right decision then I need to pick the best deck, so Jade Druid it is! From there it's all about being a tryhard, which is all I'll ever be.
It's amusing that you look down on the tryhards who netdeck and try to climb the ladder. Those people put effort in to learning matchups and what's important in the mirror and etc. Meanwhile, they similarly look down on you for being a filthy casual who couldn't buy a win because you're too far up your own ass with your silly homebrew decks. This rift between "competitive" and "casual" has always been and will always be. Despite that, it always makes me laugh as yet another person tries to explain to me why I'm what's wrong with the game (I spent years being told similar things in Magic).
We'll never see eye to eye and I'm 100% fine with that. Are you?

Can't speak to the personal confirmation issue but I can pretty much guarantee you that everyone plays this game for fun, including myself. Know what I find fun? Winning. I particularly enjoy it when my opponent friends me after the game to throw salt at me (I have a large folder full of screenshots of these children!). This happened frequently in the days following the launch of Mean Streets as I pounded people with Pirate Warrior.

You guys are endlessly amusing. Why so many of you get so salty about "cancer decks" will always be beyond me. In any metagame there will always be a best deck. Perfect balance is essentially impossible. If the best deck is as good as Druid is then adapt and "git gud" at the mirror. The game likely won't ever be exactly what you want so try to adjust to what it IS instead of whining so much.

Because you can just spuelch them at the beginning of a game, so I don't see what is the problem.

It's only a problem in the "first-world problem" way, but since we're playing a video game I'd say it's relevant.
The problem is that I have to do it Every.Single.Game and that gets pretty old pretty fast. Emotes are used for BM the vast majority of the time and they irritate me (I'm definitely not the only one). The option to permanently disable them would be a simple checkbox in the options menu and it would save us a ton of clicking over the long term.

Maybe not just for new players but one thing that has really upped my enjoyment of the game is squelching everyone at start of the game. I do the Hello emote & then do the squelch (wish Blizzard would have an option for this). Often I don't even know if they say Hello back. At the end of the game I say nothing. Even a well meant "Well Played" could be taken as a taunt :-(

"Autosquelch" really let's me concentrate on which card to play in which order/do I have lethal on hero/minion. Some players like to emote on your turn because your brain then get's interrupted by the sound/popup.

It's a bit sad & antisocial but once I tried it I'm not going back. I think the emote is Blizzards answer to a chat. The chat in MtGO can become very toxic very quickly. The whole anonymous Internet/ a billion miles away.

This 1000 times over. Why the hell don't we have an auto-squelch option?

    7. Hoej

Players I dont recommend watching for learning (they are very moderate, often makes missplays, their deck building skills are weak):

    1. Kripparian
    2. Trump
    3. Pawnyhof
    4. Amaz
    5. Forsen

I have to ask: Why is Reynad not on either of these lists? He's a big figure in the HS streaming community and I often get lists from his stream to try out on ladder.

On the other hand, many people think he's a salty little bitch and won't go near his stream. Either way, it seems like he should be mentioned.

37, but I don't play much beyond keeping up to date with my quests and laddering up to 15 or so each month. The fact that the game is so accommodating to such an approach means I'll likely be here forever. That, and the large amount of $$$ I front-loaded into the game 2.5 years ago means I can play with a full collection and little to no monetary input from here on out.

posted a message on How to make HS a better game

Fully get where OP is coming from but I'm inclined to disagree. The crazy RNG stuff is what they want the game to be, ultimately. Would it be a "better" game without all of that? Subjective. The best players would prefer no RNG at all, of course, but we already have Chess if you want to play that game. If the best player wins most of the time, most fish get annihilated and stop playing. Blizzard knows this and hence HS is what it is. Online poker is trying to deal with that issue right now, but that's another thread for another site.

I've taken my share of lumps from those cards you listed and I understand the salt, but that's likely not changing anytime soon so you'd best embrace it. If you're looking for a game that's like HS but more skillful, try Magic. That's what I used to play before I had kids and could travel to the tournaments. If you want the best player to win a big majority of the time, I think that'll work for you.

The "Yogg-Saron" mechanic where random spells get cast with random targets. I get that they're "fun" and all but I'm looking for the more efficient and competitive cards and that mechanic is annoying. It's possible that they end up being good but the variance isn't appealing.

posted a message on Need collectors' opinions on this matter

I'd stick to buying new packs to ensure that you're set to play whatever you want in Standard. If you're not going to play Wild at all then there's no timeline with regards to finishing the GvG set, so you can slowly work at it over time.

If you go HAM on GvG packs, though, you'll be closer to completing the collection goal while having far fewer of the new cards for Standard, which will limit your play options.

I'd argue that you get much greater utility out of the WotOG packs.
