kendallsg posted a message on Attempting the impossible, 47 games without me smash draw (assumption fail)Posted in: ShamanI'm trying to win a game in either casual or ranked play with the Basic Shaman deck, which I believe is by far the worse Basic deck in the game. What makes this even more impossible is that you will never draw Boulderfist Ogre... ever. I've played 47 games now in Casual play mode, have yet to see an Ogre. I'm not sure what the statistical probability of going 47 games in a row without drawing a specific card when there's 2 of them in a deck, but I've managed to achieve it.
Needless to say I have yet to win a game, I've come close to lethal a few time before getting completely overwhelmed around turn 8 since I have no cards do to complete lack of card draw and card value.
Correction, I managed to actually win a game against a Shaman mirror match, it wasn't against Basic but it was another crappy Shaman deck otherwise. The impossible has been achieved. Now it's time to take it to ladder.
Paging Boulderfist Ogre, you are wanted in Ranked Play, please go report immediately to the Basic Shaman deck draw queue before turn 28.

In my first game of arena the other day, I had a druid naturalize my mana wyrm on turn 1. I felt pretty bad about that win.

Which would be crazy value to get rid of all of his board wipes with only one minion :P

I've been using Troggzor for a little variety lately. He really fits the role of Loatheb in that he serves as both a spell remove + 6/6 taunt. I've seen people panic and get a 3/1 value trade out of him. He's also better against certain classes. Drop him on a clean board against a Paladin and it's GG since he has no direct removal. Against a mage, he's just trading fireball, but with a burly rockjaw deathrattle. In summary, your mileage will vary, but it's more fun to play him than boom b/c most people don't know how to react.

Opened this in my first freebie pack yesterday. Wasn't sure what to do with him, but thanks for the ideas on this thread.

I don't spend a ton of time in constructed, but my Shaman deck is my favorite to play. I run one bloodlust because it can help you out of a bad start, or help you drive a surprise finisher that would have taken 4+ more turns to draw out the victory. I don't agree that it is a "win more" card, since Shaman totems in a lot of situations become dead on the board without some sort of buffs. Right when Naxx released, I did add in spiders, but have been experimenting with the resurrection / rebirth theatrics the past few nights. Will probably put spiders and eggs back in.

I like Sea Giant as removal bait if you can get him out at a discount. He'll often come into play and eat the polly/ assassinate / hex that you really don't want to happen to your other big minions.
