posted a message on New Warlock Card - Renounce Darkness

The yolo deck (this x2 and x28 other warlock cards) is really fun, but admittedly quite bad.

Even the games where I coin+renounced on turn 1 to get the largest potential upside were usually a complete slaughter. How well you do is largely impacted by the class you get (priest is awful) and the curve you get in your hand. Often times I would find that even though my cards costed 1 less I couldn't take advantage of it effectively.

Druid and shaman usually give you the best chance at winning due to having a good powerful minion curve available to you. Shaman especially was nice with the new evolve mechanic so that I could turn my cheap trash cards into something decent. Also, overload doesn't hurt too bad when everything costs 1 less.

Ending with a fun note, first game I played I renounced darkness, got priest, then used shadow form all on the same turn. NO MORE DARKNESS... just kidding...

Hunter can be pretty fun with lock and load. Not particularly good, but really fun.

Making a randguldan deck and trolling the standard ladder. Shifter zerus, yogg-saron, 2x renounce darkness, and 26 other warlock spells.

Since your deck is 30 spells, seems like mage is the obvious choice again. Discover any minion with spell synergy (mage has the most) and you get a huge advantage.

Can't wait for the trolden clip where this guy pulls out nozdormu and the opponent is so confused he doesn't have time to react.

posted a message on Whats my next logical step to improving Arena?

Honestly, if you're using sites to help you draft and you know how to get a solid curve, then problems might come from piloting your deck. I've found one of the things that made me improve the most is getting a feel for what play is best in certain situations.

Watching trump and kripp was really helpful for this as their both very value focused players. I highly recommend watching all of the "trump cards" videos on youtube. Watching his draft and the fact that he'll often explain his choice when making a difficult decision can really help.

I never used to go above 5 wins, then I started watching trump and I've gotten to 12 twice now.

The other thing I didn't mention is knowing the big turn for every class. Paladin on turn 4? Consecration is coming. Mage going into turn 7? Play around flamestrike.

They don't always happen, but if you play into a big board clear turn it can potentially end the game for you then and there.

posted a message on Officially the worst arena player ever.

With the exception of maybe zombie chow, cursed blade has to be the best 1 drop to play on turn one in an arena game. I'm more likely to consider you to be the worst arena player ever for not recognizing the power of the cursed blade.

In case it's not obvious, I'm a disciple of trump.

posted a message on New Card - Twilight Summoner

Calling it a 4 mana 6/6 isn't accurate, if you're going to do something like that it's more accurate to call it a 4 mana 6/5. As it's capable of dealing 6 damage, but the whole thing dies to 5 attack.

This of course is still an oversimplification, and doesn't take into account the weaknesses like silence or cabal, but it's more accurate than saying 6/6.

In the same way I'd call shredder a 6/3  instead of saying 6/5. That's assuming a 2/2 from the second body.

Looking at it like this makes it seem better than shredder, but it's far slower and more vulnerable to silence. Seems like a good balanced card. Will definitely see play in decks with deathrattle or buff synergy.

posted a message on Arena Legenday Choice

It's definitely close between slyvannas and geddon for me. Saarad is good, but too rng dependent in comparison to the other excellent choices you've been offered.

In the end I think I'd go with geddon. Aoe of any kind is just really good in arena. I definitely wouldn't fault anyone for taking slyvannas though.

I think it's a preference pick between those two, especially since it's your first pick of the draft.

posted a message on Too many portals brawl - Turn one coin or no?
    Quote from TehJumpingJawa >>

For a long time, I used to T1 coin. However, I've come to believe it's better to hold it.

This brawl is often decided by the earliest, biggest minion.

    Consequently a T2 4-drop (portal+coin) is better than a T1 3-drop. (coin+portal)

    Equally, a T3 7-drop (T2 portal + 3 mana + coin) is better than a T2 5-drop. (T1 portal + 2 mana)

Moreover, on T1 you have no information on the composition of either your own, or your opponent's hand. As the turns progress, you gain more information, so can better gauge whether tempo, or value plays are going to be better. This knowledge should allow more profitable usage of the coin than a blind T1 play.

Smoothing out your curve on T1 obviously has value. However you also have T3 & T5 to smooth out too. Portalling into a meaningful 1 mana play for these turns isn't definite, so holding the coin to smooth out these later turns is valid too, and as you'll have more information & combo potential at that point, it will often give greater value.

There are additional considerations too; if you've got 1 or more board clears in hand, you should definitely hold onto the coin to facilitate a value clear+tempo reversal play on T5-6.

While all that is true, I prefer coining on turn 1 so that I have more immediate information to plan out my future turns. For the same reason, I always hard mulligan for anything that isn't a portal.

I usually use sorry after playing a ridiculously good turn to apologize that my rng is so much better.

If you take it as an insult, that's your own problem.
