The goal with Standard is to keep the meta fresh for each yearly rotation. There are some benefits to keeping Basic and Classic cards in Standard: Returning players have an entry-point to the new format, and new players experience classics like "Hogger" and "Arcane Missiles" that are iconic and great introductions to the game. People take breaks from Hearthstone, and being able to jump right back in with a few cards you already own and understand makes that experience a lot better.
That upside has a real downside in working directly against the big goal for Standard. It needs to feel different each year, and if Basic and Classic cards are still appearing in large densities year after year, we will not be achieving our goals for Standard.
We knew we weren't going to get there when the Year of the Kraken began, so we nerfed 12 basic/classic cards, to put more of the weight of the meta into the rotating sets. We always knew we'd have to watch the meta to see if any future changes would be needed when we got ready for the next year of Standard. If things are looking like they are going to be too same-y for that next year, we could see more nerfs, or we might rotate some additional classic cards to Wild, like we did with Old Murk Eye. No matter what, we're committed to making Standard fresh and exciting each new year.He goes on to say:

If the goal is to get more cool cards into the meta, just releasing awesome new cards in expansions should make an impact there, and still keep Standard fresh.

Shaman and Mage both got an absolutely overpowered common minion that they totally break the game in my opinion; especially since the new class cards have a increased chance to appear in the draft.
The power level of those is far beyond Piloted Shredder, that thing at least died to some 2 drops or cheap removals, only leaving behind a random 2 drop that can be traded favourable if you have some board. But what to do against a 5/5 and a (average) 3/3 for 5 mana, or a 7/7 for 4...

Rebalancing heropowers appears to be impossible, in my opinion. The whole game is built around those, ANY change would screw over pretty much everything.

This actually lets everyone participate without removing the idea of people playing competitively. Of course, a lot of players get crushed and drop out with few or no wins, but they get something for their participation that is worth even more than a regular brawl.
Also, I'm generally happy that they try to promote Wild Mode a little, treating it more like an actual part of the game instead of a dumpster they keep hiding from new players. And it's cool they fix the Atramedes encounter despite how few people would even care anymore at this point. I mean, it's kinda worth pointing out how many Bosses use nerfed cards, but at least a technical issue is getting fixed.
However, I am a bit disappointed they have not talked at all about making Wild content accessible in-game again. The two brawls would have been a great chance to award players with GvG or TGT packs or the first adventure wings of NAX, BRM or LoE (or 700g for those who already own them). Players could have gotten a couple old cards on the first brawl and tried them out in the second. I think it's a wasted opportunity to actually get players into that mode.But hey, it's a nice idea for now, and as I've said before, I'm still having my hopes up they turn the "Adventure" button in the in-game store into a "Wild" button for old content, since they don't want to release new adventures anymore and thus have to update the store anyway. We'll see.
Oh, and I'm happy the nerfs are live already. I thought that would take another month.

Why not 23 Burgle or 23 Raven Idol? Burgle would be fun, because you would essentially pick your opponent's class (expect for hero power and those 7 cards) and Raven Idol let's you choose over what cards you get, although it would probably make Brawl kinda slow with all the choises.

I play it even after that, because it's great brawl I played against some opponents who hit Mechazod to 1 life, when they have lethals and then concede, but I don't care, because I play this for fun not for wins. I hope there would be moore ofter cooperative brawls, because all the other game modes are versus. It's nice to have something different.

Been playing some new spell dmg mage with a pinch of clownfiesta cards. This is what happend to my opponent reno warlock with 0 new cards in his deck. He went super greedy and used bran on kazakus and zola on it, then gained some armor from one of the Kaz spells, meanwhile i recived Kun the Forgotten King from the new mage spell that generates 2 minions and comboed it with good old Anton + coin and few cheap spells but the real mvp of this game was deck of wonders that decided to turn his Voidlord...

he had 14 health and 4 armour left
