To summarise:
1) Quests without risking ranking
2) Learning a deck you've never played before / have minimal experience with without risking ranking
3) They enjoy winning, but don't enjoy laddering
4) They were trying something unusual that didn't show up in your game, and didn't want to risk ranking

Had a really fun match the other night playing ramp Druid against Control Warrior, generally a fairly bad matchup for me.
I see the beginning animation for my opponent's Prince Malchezaar, and then a couple turns later as I'm setting up in the early game, he drops one of the legends he got from it: Lorewalker Cho.
Shit. I play as best I can without using any spells, drop out an Azure Drake. Opponent smelling a swing turn drops Prince Malchezaar himself, which I have no way of dealing with. Then he Shield Slams my Drake away.
Thanks! I drop a Druid of the Claw in charge form to take out the Cho, Feral Rage for 8 armor, and Shield Slam his Malchezaar away.
Game eventually ended in crazy fashion, with Yogg driving me into fatigue but giving me control of one of my opponent's minions on board and an Illidan Stormrage in hand, along with 2 Worthless Imps. I make one last board of Illidan and Imps and Flames of Azzinoth, and opponent has no answers left for it.

For a while I played a version of the below with Chillmaw and 2xEquality, but it was just too defensive. Unlike the Anyfin decks, these have to basically grind the game out--they have really limited burst. So I found that if I emphasized the control / heal elements too much, I was still getting caught by aggro from time to time while also not presenting a real threat to control.
I also swung the other way for a bit and tried this with Argent Horserider instead of Dragon Consort, but the horseriders just didn't do enough to make it worthwhile.

The one I don't get at this point is Molten Giant. Okay, right, you're nerfing Big Game Hunter and don't want to make Molten too OP...oh and by the way let's then go on to print a 4-mana 7/7 and a different giant that you don't even have to be nearly dead to cast for zero....

I think it's fun because it makes deck construction more interesting. And since the competitive stakes are lower, you see more varied decks from your opponents.
Of course, I also play wacky slow decks there at very low rank. Could be that those who are serious about Wild (Is that an oxymoron at this point?) have different views.

Oh goody! Another RNG clown fiesta in a week when I have the Brawl quest.
On the bright side, I won my first match when I was able to take out an Earth Elemental with Savagery. The value!
