Spellbreaker (or more specifically neutral silence) needs to exist. There needs to exist ways for you to answer your opponent's threats, and without silence a lot of classes would have little to no options.

user-100283095 posted a message on How do you guys feel about spell breaker?Posted in: General Discussioni think its okay and definetely not a problematic card.
If there would be no silence, you wouldnt have a chance versus certain matchups like cubelock for example with their early void lords or cubes that haven't been popped yet. (Unless you're a rog with sap or vilespine)
The problematic is more the game state itself rather than the cards. High-value low cost cards/minions, first and second turn gamble, (only) 30 hp and so on.

ChickenwithOkra posted a message on How do you guys feel about spell breaker?Posted in: General DiscussionSilence is the problem, not spellbreaker. Hearthstone's evolved in a way that either we have silence or we have stupid buff combos and an unbreakable line of taunts, so silence ended up becoming a neccessary evil. A 4/3 body on turn 4 is pretty terrible if you ask me, and it's only used because that's how the game is.

jim1608 posted a message on Hamilton Chu, Hearthstone's Executive Producer, Also Leaves Blizzard EntertainmentPosted in: NewsPeople are too quick at starting up conspiracy theories and doomsay things on the internet.
It's very probable that the two of them got sick of working on the same thing for over 10 years. It happens, probably burn out.
They probably don't even feel they can keep giving 100% to something that took so many years of their life already. I believe that they are leaving together to start something on their own, that very probable.
That doesn't mean Hearth is going down the drain or anything. It's just that people move on. And also people move up! They probably weren't even as hands on on the game as they used to be a few years ago. The team now has 80+ people and many of them have been taking their responsibilities for a while ago. Nobody just says "I'm done, I'm out" and leaves the next day in an industry like this. At least no one as passionate as Ben has always been. This was a probably a long time coming thing and I'm pretty sure we won't feel it as hard as we expect.
If anything it's possible that all the improvements we've been getting (tournament mode, more value on pre-orders, more events, no dupes on legendaries, etc) is due to new blood joining in and trying to improve the game in new ways.
Just see how the revival of Nintendo came along with many new producers and talent being brought in and given the permission to try things out. Things need to change and move on to improve.
I hope Ben and Chu do great things and I'm very thankful for all that they have done to this game and community. I'll miss them, but I'll keep playing and loving this game and I'll definitely check out whatever both of them decide to bring us in the future. Let's all hope for the best on both sides.
Good-byes don't need to be a bad thing. I, for one, am staying positive over all of this.

This is VERY good news, and a great addition to HS devs.

PlaguefistGorefiend posted a message on What's with all of the cookie cutter decks?Posted in: General DiscussionI like to win, to me thats allot of fun, why would i try all these shitty decks? You don't have to agree but i'm allowed to decide for myself whats fun just like you can play whatever you want I won't judge you for it. I play every game in my life to win wheter its Football , Monopoly or a Video game and get a satisfying feeling and enjoyment when I succeed. Every person is different so deal with it , nobody cares about your opinion or mine , everybody should just do what they feel is best and stop bothering others with there opinions how others should live there lives.

Sadly it's kinda necessary to avoid busted combo decks. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

It was too much on-demand healing for the class that best uses life as a resource. Even if Control isn't operating on the same level of busted as Cube, they gotta at least attempt to preserve some aspect of class identity

Rush Warrior is a good deal of fun to play, but you are correct about it flailing against Cube and Spiteful decks. Turns out "fun and fair" still doesn't count for much in Hearthstone

BFZ block, Emrakul, Copy Cat combo to name a few examples off the top of my head. Note that I didn't say "the current meta". But it took an awful lot of garbage to get to this stage.

What I don't get is why they made this card for Warlocks in the first place. Unconditional Taunt? Powerful Deathrattle? High mana cost? Sure, it's three Voidwalkers mashed together, but Voidlord doesn't really fit in with Warlock's mechanical identity. It's safe. It's sticky. It can be cheated out with little to no risk to the player.
Now, Hooked Reaver? THERE's a Warlock Taunt. Potentially huge benefit. Pretty huge risk. Can't get its bonus if you cheat it out. Pretty garbage without the effect. Hell, "If you're at or below 15 health" should be an evergreen mechanic for Warlock.

While it's great that Blizzard is adding pros to their "final design" (read: balance) team, the past couple years of MtG Standard have demonstrated that the presence of former professional players in development is no guarantee of high quality.
