posted a message on Why is Secret Paladin so good?

Because it is easy to play and the strongest of the easy decks to play, and that's about it. If you draw right it is strong and your lines are easy, if you draw badly it is not strong, but your lines are still easy. You draw well enough overall to make it very strong however.

posted a message on Secret Pally or Patron Warrior?

Patron is overall stronger than secret pally, and also likely the strongest deck in HS in the right hands. Secret pally is much, much easier to play so it is probably is stronger for a lot of people.

Personally I don't like the various secret pally decks, I think it a very boring deck to pilot as you never really have much choice. GP is quite interesting to play (in small doses), but it can be tedious while you are learning it.

Ysera without doubt. CW is also one of the easiest classes to reach 9+ mana with.

Meh. Freeze mage is at least interesting to play against and requires a fair amount of experience and skill to be truly powerful. Patron is OP as hell, but requires a lot of skill and experience.

    No.

Well, then you are either clueless or you play at ranks where the required skill to beat people is to understand the importance of trading.

The one and only answer to that question is: every deck, that kills you while being non-interactive.

At the moment Freeze Mage and Patron Warrior, I would say.

These two decks play an entirely different game of Hearthstone. They stall, they draw and then you die, without being able to do much about it. Obviously such decks don't have a 100% win rate, so it's still possible to win... But when you lose to those decks, you feel like you've been trying to do something, but they just ignored all you did, played a couple of spells, drew their entire deck and one-shotted you.

When it comes to Facehunter and Secrets Paladin, I don't mind such decks. Sure it's annoying being crushed, but you either see it happening over time, or you get the chance to do something about it, if you have the right cards at the right time. I mean, I would rather play around 3 secrets, than see my entire board die in a Frost Nova and Doomsayer combo.

Meh. Freeze mage is at least interesting to play against and requires a fair amount of experience and skill to be truly powerful. Patron is OP as hell, but requires a lot of skill and experience.

Secret paladin is just strong, but it is way too easy to play. It's dangerously close to no making difference if the guy piloting it couldn't get past rank 15 usually or if he regularly gets 5+ (with other decks of similar strength, but not ease of play).  Facehunter or secret paladin, as examples, are actually much harder to maximize potential in.

I'd argue patron is a combo deck taken to the extreme. Combo druid is still a combo deck, because their whole deck is built around force of nature and savage roar. If it wasn't for that combo, the deck would be massively different. The fact that their midrange cards are good enough to sometimes win the game without the full combo doesn't put the deck in the midrange category. Midrange hunter is an actual midrange deck if you want to compare the two.

But the whole deck isn't built around the combo.

posted a message on Could Thaurissan be nerfed like Nat Pagle was ?
    Quote from Remhouse jump

    Hey pals,

I was theorizing with one of my friends about that maked Grim Patron so strong overall. After playing some games on my account and watching him playing a lot of games... Thaurissan seems to appear as the real problem.

The numerous combos presents in this kind of decks are strong, let's not be shy about terms to deal with this kind of subject, but still... they are fairly reasonable and not as game-changing as they could be with Thaurissan discount (even one turn is deadly).

The ability of procing Frothing to skyrocket damage or simply to clean a board while replenishing it with Patron is correct. That's like two different win conditions that the decks over around.

Thaurissan simply pushes the limit of the ''no-counterplay'' factor a bit too high.

I was kind of considering that a slight nerf to Thaurissan could be healthy for this kind of deck.

I'm not even sure if it's too hard, I don't know much about balance... so I tried hardly to do something fair... and propose the same treatment that Nat Pagle received.

Basically... it would be to give the discout of the cards in hand at the beginning of your turn. Thaurissan would then need to survive to make it worthwhile. It would leave some counter-play. Otherwise... Thaurissan seems to hit the board and often seals the game withing his effect activating once you've clicked the end turn button.

    Sincerely yours,

    TheDeadPoet/Remhouse

Sure, if you want the game to be less interesting, have less variables to consider and less interesting decks to play... then nerfing emperor like this is a brilliant idea.
