This is fucking ridiculous. I was climbing with my main deck (control mage), but after rank 5 I started to stumble upon many unfavorable matchups (murloc paladin, secret mage, zoolocks, big priests). In 10 matches I didn’t play against a single control warlock, cubelock or dragon combo priests. So I switched deck (picked murloc paladin) and guess what? 10 games: 6 (FUCKING SIXXXX) Control Warlocks, who usually demolish murloc paladins. Seriously, sometimes it feels like the matchmaking system is rigged.

Actually, as the meta evolves, I start to see more big spell hunters (who run Y'Shaarj, Barnes and spells), combo priests and Exodia control paladins. People who play these decks, I praise you. Thank you for bringing something different in.

I'm so salty with the current meta! The nerfs made decks which were strong pre-nerf even stronger. Yes, I'm talking about murloc paladin and secret mage. I went from rank 6 **** to 8 (zero stars) by playing only against these two decks (not exaggerating) until I finally encountered another control mage and won. I even miss cubelocks because for my deck (control mage) they are kinda favorable matchup.

Raza and Patches were cancer, yes, but so many decks are now gone because of the nerf and the current "meta" looks just dumb and kinda narrow.

I feel your pain, bro. I'm playing big spell mage as well and know how hard it is to win consistently with this deck (especially with so many murlocadins and secret infidels). But as for your story, you simply misplayed, happens to everyone. Paladins often choose eye for an eye over other secrets specifically to counter our ice block. The good side is that next time you will sure avoid this mistake.

I was playing a big spell control mage deck that I made against a Paladin. The guy was roping every single turn but I had all the right plays and counters. We get down towards the end and I have him with 0 cards in hand and a secret. I played Alex on myself as well as the death knight to give me 5 more health and healing. I start emoting him because his roping the whole game pissed me off. I attack with my 8/8 Alex and it was eye for an eye. I was still in a good position with a few water ele's on board as well as Alex and an ice block. I keep thanking him and saying hello as I clear his board and stretch out the game. I didn't even notice that he somehow played another secret. Instead of pinging, I attack his face with Alex. Eye for an eye again and it goes right through my ice block and kills me. I can't tell you how much that pissed me off.

Easy question. The game will be dominated by murloc paladin, secret mage and cube lock. You can already see tons of them on the ladder. Control decks will most likely see a decline.

@ZeroConflict: Dude, this is rank 20. Kingsbane rogue gets demolished by aggro/tempo decks.

Thanks for your detailed reply, mate! You obviosly spent quite some time on optimizing everything. I guess I'll just have to play this deck to check out how everything works.

Hey! Nice deck, but I have a few questions:

    1) Why 2 arcanologists? Isn't 1 enough? Drawing them after secrets basically would mean that you wasted 2 card slots. I personally prefer 1 Arcanologist and 1 Medivh's Valet (it comes as a surprise if you need to clear some high priority target or when you need to bring something to 1 health with DK Jaina without using spells).

2)Meat wagon. Same question, why? It's not hard to guess that it's on the board to lure out Doomsayer. If your opponent knows what you're up to, he will basically avoid attacking the wagon. Therefore, it just looks like another wasted deck slot.

3)Are you sure Ice Barrier makes sense with arcane artificiers? You're saying that Ice Barrier protects the block, but armor from artificiers serves the same purpose, isn't it?

CVision? I remember a CVision who added me after I won a game against him with a pirate warrior deck at rank 5ish. The guy called me pathetic, a "neverlegend noob" and deleted me before I even had a chance to reply. Is that you? :P

? Are you on some type of medication? :D No, that was not me. But if you were playing pirate warrior at rank 5, the guy was probably right?
The guy's name was CVision (not cVision, not Cvision or any other variant), what's wrong in assuming it was you? And if you justify those manchildren who can't lose and trash talk their opponents after the game, you're not very different from the other CVision guy (though I'm almost 100% sure it was you now).

Thanks for your reply. I want to share my new approach after playing around 20 games against highlander yesterday and today, but it requires some tweaks to the deck: add 2 coldlight oracles instead of the acolyte of pain and one raven familiar. General strategy is to get arcane artificiers by mid-game and dirty rats by end-game thanks to additional draw. Once you play artificiers, start armoring up/clearing the board by your powerful spells. After the priest plays Anduin and starts shooting your face, you need to dirty rat Velen and finish him right away either with meteor or polymorph. The idea is that if you have enough armor (around 30), the priest will most likely not have enough damage to finish you off with 2 of your ice blocks and Alexstraza. Of course, anything can go wrong, because ... highlander priest. That plus RNG from Lyra/Kazakus or some other priest shenanigans.

Awesome deck, thanks for posting it! So far I've been enjoying it a lot. Any advice for game plan against highlander priest with it? They are usually smart enough to wait till I play my Dragoncaller Alanna and use psychic scream. I managed to win only once, when the priest had to use psychic scream to clear off the minions generated by Atiesh, so the dragons managed to finish him off later after he played Anduin.
