This is no more enjoyable than goat control from yugioh, yeah its 1000% skill based(which is fun as a gimmick years later), but no other deck worked as efficiently as it at the time meaning everything you played and fought against was goat control. Well now its the same with DK, but they just have a few extra tools and two decks.
You talk about that as though it's somehow a bad thing? It's the opposite, though. You shouldn't normally be able to know exactly what deck you are going to face just by the opponent's class. It requires players to actually develop and use the skill of adapting to the deck they are playing. Unfortunately for a long time, we never really had that optimum goal of having to learn what deck the opponent is playing until recently. There have been brief glimpses of it now and then, like say with Druid, where you weren't sure if was Aggro Druid or a long term Control deck. And those make for greater gameplay.
Otherwise we are back to the stale metas of Classic Hearthstone where classes like Huner (for example) were only ever to play Face decks, etc). Deathknight is hopefully the start of multiple classes that can really diversify their viable deck options and make the game much more enjoyable overall.
Out of the respect of you moderating this forum I wont go further than saying this... That you think for a second the meta is healthy is actually moronic or you just don't play hearthstone. I'd like to assume its the ladder but lets be honest, the meta is always shit, but this time its shit with an extra bit of whip cream on it. This game is already dying like a brick, it has no where near the participation or ingenuity it did half a decade ago, its just kind of sad to watch now. you'd think getting to legend would be fun, but throwing fun decks at 30 death knight matches because they're all chasing their legend rank for the month is beyond the stupidest crap ever, it forces you to intentionally pick against them or pick something that has half a chance against them. yes there are other decks that "work" but there are no other decks that flat out win. This is literally secret pally levels of stupidity from grand tournament, turn 6 drop christmas tree and win game.
I will admit this is the first time I have seen someone complaining that there is too MUCH diversity in a class and that a class can play any of the three archetypes. Considering it's something the community has been asking for for years, there is definitely a measure of irony here.
I must admit it is the next level of blindness to see this as a complaining about diversity.
...I do take issue in the fact that they have three prevalent meta decks - two of which are tier 1 - that can either be aggro, control, or combo.
Just going to leave that there then. That's pretty much a clear complaint about a class having too much diversity.
I mean, there's a decent point there from them that its back to the days of mulliganing against either pirate warrior or control warrior, what do you do? you pick wrong you lose because the decks are so different. one you need your combo cards earlier, one you need your healing/aoe earlier and even if you win the 50/50 mulligan coin flip you still have a high chance of losing. So Whats the answer? Just play one of the DK decks or just lose more often than not. If there was a definitive counter against each deck to dissuade it being played so much this wouldn't be an issue, the issue is each deck is played 5x more than any other deck.
Honest to god i've played over 30 matches tonight and i did not play a single mage, rogue, warrior, shaman or druid at d1
Death Knight is the class that let me play control without feeling bad after years of the game punish for being a Priest control main.
I am fine with nerf to Frost and some blood cards i dont really care as long as they dont overkill the littlepool of cards we have tho.
Its a control deck in a meta where it and its aggro variant have no true counter. you can't just play "x deck if you're running into too much dk" because 50%+ (if not actually 70+%) of the matches you will play will be against frost or blood dk so you can only slightly counter one of them at a time, but even then they still probably beat you 51%+ since none of them have an astronomically low win rate against anything.
your only options are play homebrew and lose 51%+ of your matches
play blood dk or frost dk and just mirror match most the night where you probably will win against most homebrews and have 40-60% against any other DKs
play pure pally and prey countess rolls beat either of those two decks(or you manage to outrace them) and actually have a little fun against homebrews
or play something else meta and try to creep up your rank with a 50.1% winrate vs these decks with a 60+% win rate

Yes variety in Multiple viable archtypes in multiple viable classes, There should not be a 50% match rate against a single class
It's possible I misunderstand your meaning, but the absolute goal of balance in Hearthstone is for there to be a 50% win-chance between any and all classes. That would represent the pinnacle of game balance.
you did misinterpret, what i said is 50% of the matches played include a DK right now in plat+

great work i can tell you put a lot of thought into this! my only concern would be the power level of meditate, from the cards provided it seems like it might just be a bit too weak? losing an attack is a pretty big deal, especially for bigger minions
but other than that it all seems really cool and i really love the flavor
It seems like a control type deck vs and aggro deck. Natively every deck can play aggro midrange or control to some degree but hunter definitely encourages aggro and priest definitely encourages control. I think in this case looking at meditating it resembles a repeatable battle cry. In all honesty though I think it would be better to have it so you could use mediate on their summon but had certain cards that denied using mediate the first turn they were summoned with a tag "can not meditate the turn this was summoned"
0/4 taunt is interested but is it really an equal power to all the other 1 drops that basically have the equivalent of "must remove this immediately"? If the creature can't attack and meditate anyways it might as well be allowed to its first turn of being summoned
I would actually be okay with DK if it weren't all the same Hearthstone replay netdecks. No one even tries to go even slightly outside of the carbon copy rank 1 legend streamer build.
I agree that a lot of the good decks are frustrating to play against, but they are all very interactive in my opinion. There are so many tech options right now, that even freeze and other mechanics that would traditionally shut you out of the game can be countered.
Homebrew decks are also fairly viable right now; I just got to legend with one.
Because so many cards are very swingy and because of card generation, it's often very hard to tell if you are winning. Basically, if you don't like infinite value and you do not like the discover mechanic, you are not having a good time right now.
bull shit they're interactive. tell that to turn 4 win shadow priest. tell that to frost wyrm fury. tell that to secret rogue, tell that to tony druid. like dude im fairly sure you were joking with that statement but i'll let it slide if you are magically only fighting homebrew decks in high legend
The most popular decks right now are blood dk, frost dk, and pure paladin. They are interactive because they all fight for board control and usually win by overwhelming their opponent with minions as some point in the game.
Tony Druid is also pretty interactive for a combo deck because it often has to sacrifice its combo pieces as board clears and because it does not have stalls that allow it to reach its combo without keeping its opponent's board fairly clear.
Uninteractive doesn't mean that the power level is very high, it means that there is not counterplay and that both decks are just racing for their win condition. Shadow priest is a good example of this because clearing their board isn't helpful and you are usually better off just racing to kill them. Milhouse mage is an example of a very weak uninteractive deck. Frost Dk is not a good example of this because most of their damage currently comes from minions and because silence tech cards are very effective against it.
its uninteractive because they have an answer for everything + 20 extras cards and theres literally no punishment towards them in the beginning of the game because they keep discovering 2 mana +10 hp overheal??? so they beat other control decks easily by overpowering them with a 7 mana do 3 dmg every turn for the rest of your life and just roping while aggro runs up on 15 different heal things. and combo decks get shut out to dirty rat and patchwerk....
frost dk is the same race as shadow priest just has a face blizzard and a spread 6mana pyroblast
pureadin is literally the only example you've given that is even a little interactive because its the only viable midrange deck

I really don't think 250,000 games of frost+blood dk are from just a snapshot vs the total 100k maybe of other various meta deck combined

Maybe some missplays, but This deck did some wild OG miracle levels of digging for a finish

Wish they would just reduce the amount of rank distributions... Some are just barren or flooded with bots
