Not to say that it doesn't require a bit of luck every now and again to win, but at least when RNG fucks you in the ass, you didn't waste nearly as much time as playing a midrange/control deck. It never ceases to amaze me how little your meta deck means in a fight when 99 percent of the time, its RNG/Good Card Draw that wins you the game.

I can't begin to fathom how one can climb in this game consistently with skill alone; it honestly seems impossible because the only time I win is because my enemy either got unlucky (which is rare) or because I did (even rarer). Playing well means nothing when a loss is just a card draw away. I understand the synergies of all the dam decks; I know what you have to play around, but I can't play around everything nor should I be expected to.

Tl:dr Ranked Play honestly feels like I'm legit gambling, Meta Deck vs Meta Deck boils down to who draws better not who played better most of the time assuming the decks have similar power levels.

Was expecting most of the nerfs except Sludge Slurper. That card was never the problem I had with the the deck fighting it. It still has the overload so it’s basically unplayable now as is Mogu because of the increased mana (I hate the card but it’s basically free dust at this point).

Tl:Dr They could have been worse and they certainly help vs the deck, but they missed the mark on a few cards. (Rip Sludge Slurper)

It certainly weakens the card, but it ultimately dooms the card to uselessness come rotation as it will never compete with Death Knights in Wild.  I would have rather it been Hall of Fame, but free dust from Blizzard? Not gonna happen.

They probably figure why bother with the hof with Boom when he's gonna rotate anyways? Nerfing is better. and don't underestimate the nerfed boom. It still grants an extra 7 armor on play, it still gives ALL mechs rush, and it STILL can grant extra devastators, zilliax's, and tomb wardens. Still decent value for 9 mana. Still a strong card.

Besides that, Blizzard HAS given free dust in the past for rotations, genn and baku being most recent examples. Don't go needlessly feeling salty just because you have to disenchant Boom for the dust refund this time. Boom was hugely strong yes, but he was no wear near as toxic or overwhelming as baku was.

7 armor on Turn 9 is nothing if you are behind. If you don't have a board, its basically 9 mana Shield Block but no draw. (Hero Power RNG will be more important than ever now because the first one he gets he can't even use until next turn so he will end up with something else.)

That's not to say he didn't need adjustments; I just think nerfing the mana cost is lazy and ultimately kills the card post-rotation. Removing Blast Shield or nerfing its armor would have made him more vulnerable to damage and trading instead of making him the unkillable juggernaut he currently is.

Oh look another person who thinks piddly amounts of dust is a legitimate deciding factor in balance changes just because they didn’t get the nerf they wanted...

Remember Molten Giant and how astronomically shit it was when it got nerfed? Even in Wild, it was unplayable. Boom is a bit stronger than that even at 9 mana, but he's going to be unplayable in Wild.

What do you mean "compete with the Death Knights"? I don't think DK Garrosh is a better fit for most/any decks. As for its strength compared to other decks running DKs, it would depend more on the power of those decks, right?

I mean other classes' Death Knights. Only reason Boom is so dam oppressive is because all the other high value hero cards and other broken shit rotated out. He is more or less unchallenged. In Wild, its a completely different story. DK Guldan and DK Jaina will stomp him in the value game not to mention a good DK Rexxar.

The nerf certainly makes him easier to fight now in Standard, but it also means that when he rotates out (and lord knows what new cards are introduced and how broken they might be) he will basically be doomed to obscurity. Legit no reason to play him in Wild when so many other broken things exist.

Boom to Hall of Fame. I honestly won't stand for anything less.

I seem to remember a dev saying that if any of the buffs turned out to be too much, they would probably undo them, so Pocket Galaxy will surely go back to (7) or maybe (6). I'd prefer (7).

If they touch Conjurer's Calling, I would expect nothing more than removing Twinspell from it, but I'm not sure they'll even do that.

I know Prismatic Lens creates some polarizing situations and has received a fair amount of forum hate, but I'm not convinced it's on Blizzard's radar. I have a feeling we're just going to have to wait for this one to rotate.

I think Mountain Giant will enter the Hall of Fame at the beginning of next year, possibly along with Leeroy and maybe even Alexstrasza.

I agree with your assessment on Prismatic Lens; it's one of those cards that when it works it is amazing but can also fail horribly if drawn too late or hits the wrong cards. Tip the Scales is insane at less than 5 mana, but its not nearly as hard to fight as Boom with multiple Devastators and other removals or Big Priest in Wild.

Personally, I would be shocked if they didn't touch Omega Devastator (I would prefer a mana cost change to 5 to limit your options a bit, but a mech tag removal will probably be what happens).

Conjurer's Calling and Boom Hero don't deserve drastic nerfs solely because its not their fault they are OP, they are only good because of other circumstances.  Mountain Giant is what breaks Conjurer's (HoF the giant would fix that problem RIP Handlock) and Boom is only great because his competition is minimal (Wild has far stronger hero cards in it than can easily match Boom in the value game.) As much as I like playing Boom, I hope he just gets HoF, because any nerfs to the card just kill it in Wild.

posted a message on Quicksand Elemental Potential?

Quicksand Elemental looked amazing when it was initially revealed; I thought it would see more play than it has so far. I've mainly seen Sandstorm Elemental in Shaman, and Elemental Mage isn't really a thing right now in Standard.  Am I the only one that thinks this card could be really good in the right meta?

Great card effect but will sadly be useless in standard like most Reno decks because of Bomb Warrior and Conjurers Mage overwhelming them under most circumstances. New Shaman cards make their control variant a hard counter to Reno Shenanigans as well.

Man that sucks. Despite all the shit he sometimes got for dumb cards like Purify (which he wasn't 100 percent responsible for) he genuinely seemed like a nice guy who you wouldn't mind sharing a mug with at a bar. His enthusiasm and laugh will be missed (as will the memes) and I can only wish him luck in his future endeavours.

posted a message on How much wins did you get with the free Arena Run?

4-3 I had a decent mage deck, but I got absolutely screwed by RNG when I used Firelands Portal.  The 2 times I got to use the card I got Dopplegangster and Bomb Squad (against a fucking hunter) across consecutive games. The tempo loss cost me the game both times.

So dam pathetic how luck basically gave my opponent a free win.

posted a message on Rotation and Wild Woes

With all the cards being rotated out and put into the cesspool that is Wild, fun decks I liked to use will be more or less useless because playing in Wild means having to deal with ridiculous value cards like Dr. Boom, Sludge Belcher and Piloted Shredder. That's not even taking into consideration the crazy bullshit combos that will probably exist when the next expansion comes out.  Its a dam shame that you are more or less forced to play tech cards or  the crazy OP cards yourself in order to stand a chance inside this jungle. That's the main reason I play Standard; to avoid fighting it. I'd gladly fight more pirates (getting nerfed at least) if it means I never have to hear HEE  HEE HA HOO! as two bombs come out to fill my enemy's board.
