HMcCool posted a message on Why Twin Slice is Broken and makes Demon hunter PowerfulPosted in: General DiscussionDemon hunter has gotten a lot of hate from lots of people since its release. I think the class is still strong and after 2 sets of nerfs is still remains very powerful as the second most powerful class in standard next to Rogue. There are a lot of cards that are well above the power level such as Priestess of Fury, Umberwing and Skull of Gul'dan still after being changed. However, i believe the strongest card and most flexible is being over looked, i think Twin slice is one reason why Demon hunter is such a powerful class.
I will tell you my reason why i think Twin Slice is making Demon hunter much more powerful than it probs is:
1: Any 0 Mana card can be risky to print:
Blizzard Rarely prints 0 mana cards, as playing any card you dont have to pay mana for in a Online card game is always difficult to balance. Look at Backstab for Rogues, which still sees play since hearthstone's release. Even with a Condition on the card to meet, Backstab is still too good and almost a must include in most Rogues lists. However, Backstab does have a downside where it is weaker late game, Does not work on damaged minions and makes drawing 0 mana cards from their hero card or Toggwaggle risky. Most 0 mana cards are pretty powerful like Shadowstep being a free bonce and discount on a minion, Silence removes effects and Embiggen makes normal minions monsters. All are pretty crazy for 0 mana, however most 0 mana cards have Conditions like needing to target minions, hold a spell, Make your card costs more or pretty fair cards like Whispers of EVIL orInnervate. Twin Slice is the one of only 0 mana which ignores this rule and is straight up just Mental without any drawbacks or conditions. Furthermore unlike most 0 mana cards where you can only put 2 in your deck, Twin Sliceis technically 4 zero cost cards for 2, which makes it very high value.
2: It straight up Too Flexible and might even be the most flexible card in the game:
Twin Slice is mostly just really good any turn in the game and is too flexible. It can be played on turn one to buff something like a Battlefiend, Used to help remove a early game minion, push face damage, make a Flamereaper even bigger, remove a card to trigger a Outcast effect, Ping a creature, check for Counterspell, Trigger Kael'thas Sunstrider etc etc. It is really THAT GOOD! It has no downsides, it can be played any turn and i would even compare it to being a better coin if you are a demon hunter doing first as you can just use it in like 10 different useful situation, which a single common spell should not be able to do. People hate Zephrys the Great for being too good at most mana costs, however it does technically have a condition and is a legendary, unlike Twin Slice which is a common and has no condition. I would even say it might be one of the most broken spells ever printed next to Skull of Gul'dan
3: It makes Strong Demon hunter cards Broken:
Battlefiend, Satyr Overseer and Altruis the Outcast are 3 really powerful cards, 2 which even had to be recently nerfed. However, i think these cards would drop in power level if Twin Slice was not 0 mana. Like attacking with your hero power and other cards is meant to their class idenifty, but having four 0 mana spells which basically reads "Trigger your hero power for free" just seems over the top. Battlefiend and Satyr Overseer basically reads "give your hero one attack or two attack" as a result of twin slice cheating out their effects on the turn they are played, when should really cost 1 mana extra to gain the attack bonus, which is broken. Furthermore, Altruis the Outcast is seen as powerful as Twin Slice alone helps trigger outcasts effects by reorganizing your hand and Dealing 2 damage to all enemies for 0 mana which again makes Altruis the Outcast broken, when it fact he could be alot more balanced.
4: It has gone to the BEST Class to use this effect:
Demon hunters have the best cards to really abuse Twin Slice. Saying that i think it would have been really strong in any classes, particularly Rogue who loves 0 mana spells which good effects. If it went to lets say a warrior or a Druid who are classes that also loved attacking, it would just be Good outside being broken in Kael'thas Sunstrider decks. Demon hunter is a class who has many cards based on attacking, dealing damage and organisation of your hard, which Twin Slice does all 3. I think it really is just too good in Demon hunters and would just be Good in another class.
5: Why is Twin Slice Broken, but Pounce does the same thing and is not?
Pounce is similar, but more balanced version of Twin Slice in a class which has not too many ways to abuse attacking outside combo Kael'thas Sunstrider decks. Pounce [/card] was seen a rather weak as Druid does not really want to attack, however if [card]Pounce was a Demon hunter card i think it would be really good, but many slightly more balanced as it is only 1 card and can only be played twice, making it less flexible.
Summary:
Tldr: Demon hunter is powerful, its not just Twin Slice causing this, but i strongly believe its power level for a common spell is beyond anything we have ever seen before as its the most flexible spell in the game, Better than similar cards in other classes, gone to the perfect class with alot of attack buffs and abusive at 0 mana.

Kwakdizzle posted a message on Dust Golden Magtheridon?Posted in: Card DiscussionIf you don't need the dust RIGHT NOW, I'd keep it. It's a card that is going to be around for a long time, and the meta will shift many times, within and between the many expansions it will live through. I don't know how many times I've seen people complaining about cards that were initially useless become good. Remember how Hadronox was laughed at for a long time before taunt druid became tier 1? I'm not saying it will become good, but there's a chance and people have been surprised.
Glinda, warlock quest, mage quest, priest quest, Barista, Heistbaron Tog, Nomi, Goru, Japetto, Loti, Anka, Dollmaster Dorian, and many more cards are legendaries that saw very little play in release meta but eventually found decks that were at least tier 2 or higher at some point. This is a card that could see some play in slower metas. It interacts with res pools and clears the board, but it's just really slow in doing so and requires two cards.

Niakin1903 posted a message on Dust Golden Magtheridon?Posted in: Card DiscussionI'd keep it if I were you. Both warrior and warlock currently have great ways to activate it (sometimes on the same turn). Acts as a full board clear with a big threat on the board (ala Deathwing but without the discard drawback). It's not *currently* seeing top-tier play... but the fact that it's class-neutral and the fact that it has such a long shelf life being in the first xpack of a new rotation means it could likely see competitive play in the future.
