Would this deck run arcane tyrant as a form of keeping tempo while playing seals? I'm sure a free 4/4 does help the deck recover tempo, just not sure how well a free minion like that helps you defend board or delay your own death or even what you would replace. Also works with the massive draws you get with DOOM.

Love this deck btw, I really hope Rin works even if only in some rarely seen fringe deck.

Control warlock probably starts running double hellfires, double abyssal, and maybe that new 2 drop demon instead of voidwalker. This card is great value after the first upgrade and after the second it's just insane. People play healbot in wild, this card is going to see play. Your health swings late game as warlock are going to be huge. Maybe jaraxxus even sees play if warlock gets enough healing cards.

It lives boys. My questlock deck can stop being a meme. Quest warlock desperately needed some way other than defile to deal with an early board. Now we have cataclysm, a card that hits a reset button and let's us get that quest done on curve. Who cares if you discard your entire hand, you already accept that possibility in your heart every time you play howlfiend, at least this way you know you are going to hit clutchmother and the silverware. If this works with malchezars imp than you can just complete quest while reloading your hand.

This is the best meme I've seen leading up to this expansion. If this flies under the radar then some people are in for a pleasant surprise. But if people do know what you are planning once you use the king and explore they might just be able to beat you. Against say the hunter or warlock DK (if the opponent already had them), they might be able to win by using whatever value generation they already have while using your own control tools to shut out explore un'goro. In the right meta and with few enough people playing it this combo could be hilarious tho.

Even more hilarious is that if this deck is meta dominant then we may enter a timeline where people put their own togwaggle or cho into a deck to counter this deck specifically. (Its might be more likely that they use an explore discover and get their own answer just prior to you using gheist).

Play this turn 4. Priest plays raza on 5. Concedes when their hero power doesn't become 0 mana.

posted a message on New Warlock Minion - Voidlord

This card will see play in wild with all the krul malganis warlocks. In standard I think this card is right at the edge between bad and playable. We will have to see what warlock gets and how the meta develops bit I think this card might start seeing more play once abyssal enforcer rotates out. Out of all reminds with taunt you can bring back this is more playable than lakkari or felgaurd. On the speculative side both this card and rin have 3 attack so maybe there is some kind of recruit or discount options coming for warlock.

Now for the meme: big warlock. Meatwagon, Barnes, bloodfury potions, alarm-o-bot, y'shaarj, couple voidlords, and whatever other big things you want to fit into the deck (maybe rin for another 3 attack minion pull). An alarm-o-bot is going to be tough to get through on turn 6 with one of these guys standing in the way.

posted a message on New Shaman Legendary - Grumble, Worldshaker

I loved ele shaman during un'goro and was sad to see it got no love during kft and got pushed out the game because it was out tempo'd by keleseth decks. I really hope that this card and a few other good shaman or ele cards bring that deck back. I do think if ele comes back, and this card is played in it, we may see a resurgence of the forgotten elemental legendary. This card has some potential great synergy with ozruk. You drop grumble one a board with some nice elementals, then re drop those elementals for some great battlecry effects, then the turn after you drop a 5/20 or 5/30 taunt in the opponents face. Against decks that rely on minions to win they either have an answer to ozruk or they lose.

I think this card could be a card that sees play in hunter. I'm doubtful that a hunter deck with N'zoth, Krush, Swamp King, double bowman, and double highmane would work, probably too top heavy. But at the very least if we assume the worst where this card pulls something like alleycat or jeweled macaw and then gets silenced or transformed it is an 8 mana 7/7 that removed 1 card from the deck. I think even in the worse case it isn't horrible because at least the cards that get pulled aren't being drawn. If it pulls cards like Swamp King or Highmane it's got great value, at the worst if it pulls 1 or 2 weak minions, at least those are minions you aren't drawing when you need topdecks like kill command or Deathstalker.

posted a message on New Warlock Legendary - Rin, the First Disciple

So far reading this thread I think there are 4 decks that someone might try and fit this card into attempting to make it work based on the cards we currently have and know about.

Zoo: Keleseth zoo warlock is somewhat popular and Rin could find a home here. With a keleseth buff a 6 mana 4/7 taunt is only slightly understated and hopefully your opponent has better things to silence or transform, like whatever you beef up with bonemare or a darkshire councilman. When the game is running long and you are topdecking it gives you something to do with your mana, the minions spawned are demons for crystalweaver and are bonemare targets so your opponent might not want to ignore them. Might not work as well in the builds that focus on discard synergies but it is something people might play around with as a tech choice.

Classic control: The concept on this one is simple, you add this card as an interesting tech choice in a control warlock list and have it as a potential win condition late game, but not necessarily the main focus of the deck, you'd play a seal whenever you feel like you have the breathing room and maybe you play the 10/10 when you get around to it, less to destroy half their deck and more start the opponents fatigue a handful of turns earlier, but otherwise you are just playing a control warlock with all the other warlock tools.

The Rin Focused: These decks are otherwise control warlocks but the main focus is playing your seals fast enough to blow up half the opponents deck. Using cards like violet illusionist, blood bloom, and cho'gal to either play multiple seals in one turn or to play the seals at a discounted cost so you can do other things on your turn. Probably less good at controlling the board but can get your seals played pretty efficiently

The correct choice: Blizzard has given us a true gift, we shall take this gift and create the greatest meme deck ever conceived. renounce darkness, barnes, Y'shaarj, Rin warlock. You hit your perfect curve dropping barnes on 4, which pulls a baby y'shaarj, which then pulls a mother Rin for protection. Rin dies protecting the baby y'shaarj and gives you the first seal. Turn 5 you play your seal on curve, baby y'shaarj brings out daddy y'shaarj. you progress your turns playing a seal every turn, you play Grand Papy Azari on turn 10, destroying half your opponents deck. You then renounce darkness, becoming a simple priest, no one would ever suspect a priest of viciously cutting the opponent's deck in half, it would be the perfect crime.

posted a message on New Warlock Legendary - Rin, the First Disciple

This is a truly meme-worthy card, it might not end up being busted but I think people are definitely going to try and make it work (I know I will). We've barely scratched the surface of which cards we will see this expansion so there is no concrete way right now of judging what the meta will be like next expansion and how this card might have synergies or anti synergies. But if we look at it right now at face value I think it's still a little up in the air.

    Cons:

weak to silences, transforms, counterspell, managing, maybe even thoughtsteal, as well as dirty rat at the very end.

Very slow to play even with cards like bloodbloom.

Might die the turn after you play your demon.

If this is your deck's main way of winning the game then you are shelled if it's at the bottom of your deck.

Those seals don't provide much board presence or leave much room mana wise to clear board or play minions.

    Pros:

    Achieve meme dream.

This card and the cards it generates alone give you 30/30 in demon stats to revive with Bloodreaver GD.

Even if destroying the opponent's deck doesn't destroy their combo and shut them down, it puts them in a situation where they have to kill you with what's left in their hand and on their board.

Warlock as a class tends to run their deck into fatigue quicker than the opponent, these cards can set your opponent into fatigue well before you hit fatigue.

Having a death rattle generate the first seal kinda sucks but it does open up the opportunity for the new recruit mechanic or for cards like the meme wagon and Barnes to nab it.

    tl:dr

So this card really has its cons but I wouldn't sell it too short just yet and we still don't know what else the expansion will bring us. We also can't forget that this is only done by one card, I can easily imagine a world where someone subs one card in their control warlock for this card just to have something people won't expect.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 6.11 - Discussion Topic

I really tried to capture the feeling of summoning and playing quasar from yugioh and translate it to hearthstone (and just like it was in yugioh, quasar probably wouldn't be very competetive in hearthstone either). This isn't a good representation of formula synchron but I chose it because it was the tuner that helped me bring out quasar more often than not. The battlecry effect works like mimirion's head. I chose the destruction of at least 2 other high cost minions so it felt like synchro summoning, and I chose only 9 and 10 cost minions because this helps me exclude a lot of giants that could make this way too easy to pull off. Quasar's counter effect works like counterspell would except for any type of card the opponent plays, and it can happen once every time your opponent takes a turn.

notes: I absolutely loved playing quasar decks back when I played yugioh, sometimes it was nice to just play something that wasn't the most consistent but would sometimes work and leave the best expressions on my opponents face at a locals.

    The original cards.
