posted a message on Most legendaries in a single draft?

Obviously, I'm just curious as to what are the most people have seen. The actual deck it's self is kind of middle of the road rating a 69.5 on Heartharena.

I ask because somehow I just ended up with 5 of them in my most recent priest draft. They are. . . .

    Hogger, Doom of Elwynn (TWICE!)

    Ragnaros

    Soggoth

    Emperor Thaurissan

    Here is the entire deck

posted a message on New Mage Quest - Open the Waygate

To be fair the one that sees play in Vintage is Time Walk from Alpha/Beta/Unlimited, correct? The later one that targeted a player, and was a bit more expensive if memory serves, was Time Warp from the Tempest expansion.

5 mana, draw another card, refresh your hero power, and get in another round of attacks . . . . I'm ok with that!

5 to 12 is a bit of a kick in the ass to be sure but, if you think about it, you had to go from 12 and climb up to 5 once already so you can do it again. If not you can always start drinking heavily and uncontrollably sob at your computer wondering how it all went wrong until you pass out only to wake up atop another ruined keyboard face down in a puddle of your own vomit. What? Is that not normal? Don't judge me!!!!

posted a message on Tournaments for everyone else?
    Quote from stormcry0 >>

    Hearthstone is too young.

Magic's tournament scene is more than just "we had tournaments every weekend" There are low-REL events like FNMs some are small (8 players) some are very big (40-60 players). The you have the events that wizards make wich are preceded by pre-tournaments where you have to achieve certain rank to be eligible for the big tournaments.

Then there is "the grind" for planeswalker points or whatever those are called now, where you have to reap victory after victory traveling across your country, some times several countries around the world to finally get a chance to play into the magic world's cup.

And THEN there are the third-party events wich are not responsability of wizards (think of batstone but bigger, a lot bigger) wich also has preliminary encounters and some are with invitation.

So, as I said, hearthstone is too young for all this.

But there is strifewire and thelike where you can play for tiny/small/medium sized prizes and enjoy some competitiveness in this game.

The MtG tournament scene was really good out of the gate. I will date myself and say that I competed in tournaments all over in 95 through 98 when I was in college and while many weren't sanctioned by Wizards many were. There were few weekends I couldn't find a tournament, or often multiple tournaments to play in within driving distance of Notre Dame which is in South Bend Indiana of all places.
That being said I will certainly check out Strifewire and see if that won't take me down a rabbit hole into more like tournaments. Hopefully it does. However, I still think that Blizz is really dropping the ball. They should have something in place for the player base at large to compete in that doesn't rely on spending hours upon hours grinding to legendary or amassing a huge pool of followers.
I really love Hearthstone and this isn't a dealbreaker by any means. I will continue play regardless but I would love to see them get behind getting more people involved in tournament play in the future.

posted a message on Tournaments for everyone else?

It's been my observation that the Hearthstone tournament scene is a massive circle jerk to put it bluntly. You either have to grind your way into the top 1 percent or have a popular Twitch and/or Youtube following. I'm sure watching these same couple dozen people play was fun once upon a time it's incredibly stale at present. What I want to know is whether there are tournaments for everyone else?

When I played Magic: The Gathering there were tournaments every weekend that I could play in at various places in town. We'd do booster drafts, constructed, and even had leagues. How is it that Hearthstone, being online with a player base of millions and millions of players doesn't have a thriving tournament scene beyond watching Firebat and Lifecoach in the finals battling it out to be the next pivot man (Google that one kids). If Magic could have a thriving tournament scene in a small town with a few hundred players Hearthstone should be able to have one online with millions of players it stands to reason.

Perhaps I'm wrong and there is a tournament scene out there and I haven't stumbled across it yet. Christ, I hope there is. If there is they do a total shit job of promoting themselves but I would love to find them.

Exactly! I know when I played Magic there were tournaments all over. I could play in them on most weekends at various places. It seems that in Hearthstone if you don't have a Twitch channel with a few hundred thousand/million viewers or you don't have the time to grind your way into the top1% of the top 1%  your shot of getting into an actual tournament is nil.

posted a message on Arena: The Rise of Priest(esse)s & Class Tiers

I think the biggest take aways from MSG will be that priest will take a massive step up into the top/second tier of arena classes, pally will move into top tier, mage will see a hit to it's dominance but remain top tier and rogue will drop down into the second/third tier. Warrior sees a bit of a boost but I don't think it's enough the needle and the other classes shaman, druid, warlock, and hunter will remain where they were.

ALL the legendaries in zero packs. What? I had a lot of dust saved up.

Aya and Kazakus are probably my top two but I have a hair over 50k dust saved so I will be crafting everything but a select few bad legendaries most likely.

posted a message on You have 50,000 dust on release do you craft 1 of each card or do you craft multiples for decks.
    Quote from skymarshall78 >>

If you have no cards and are planning to craft a full set, opening even a "bad" booster of 4 commons, 1 rare would save you 260 dust.  A good pack would obviously save much more.

Spending dust on a set that you have very little of already is really inefficient as compared to opening packs.

That's a good point. With all the other expansions I only ever crafted epics and legendary cards typically. Of course I've done the 50 pack offer with all the other expansions and filled out the rest through arena but I'm skipping it this time around and just using my dust and grinding arena for the rest. This is probably going to mean that I'm going to have to craft a few commons and rares for decks because grinding them through arena will take some time.

Why would you waste your dust in a full set? Just open packs and craft what you need later.

Plus, is not like you gonna need every card from the set, a lot of them just suck, why would you craft them? Just to say that you have a full set? Nah, that's just nonsense.

I have 30k dust saved and I would never do that.

I like to collect. As it stands I have full sets of all the other expansions and the classic set.
