it's more like "pay to skip the amount of rage you have to endure"
Which is one on the definitions of pay to win.
Just because something is possible without paying does not automatically put it away from pay to win.
If you can unlock every card in the game on day 1 by spending money that is pay to win regardless if if can win without it. But that is also the nature and definition of CCGs.
By your logic the lootboxes in SW:BF 2 is not pay to win because you can still unlock them by an insane amount of playing (80h minimum of playing with a wall of X amount of points you can earn per day) then more hours for special powers (not something that make you win if you aren't skilled enough to use it).
No, I'm sorry but CCGs are pay to win by definition regardless what anyone says, just not in the way that you are 100% guarateed victory because you payed.
I'm sorry but it is pay to win, just saying that you can win without paying does not change that fact.
Buying packs gives you a significant advantage in choices and greatly reduces the neccessary grind to be able to utilize everything the game has to offer (all the available cards). You have to look at it from the perspective of 2 complete new players where one buys packs and the other doesn't.
But here is the thing, it is a ccg, they are p2w by design and there is no way around it unless you make it B2P and have all cards unlocked from start or only a free progression system that you are unable to hasten by paying.
If you can't deal with the fact that this is the nature of the genre of CCGs then you are looking at the wrong category of games to play.
Not gonna buy anything this time, atleast until i know what the singleplayer will reward.
Unless its equal in value of the amount of packs I could have bought with the gold instead I will not support them at all.
The old adventures had their worth with the unique cards it offered as a reward for the gold and time spent (also cardbacks), but I've not seen or heard anything about the rewards for this solo content yet.
15 expansion packs
One classic golden pack
One golden legendary - Zayle, Shadow Cloak (you cannot craft or disenchant it)
Two cardbacks (normal and heroic)
Not really worth it then, the cloak is basically a Wizbang, but I rather spend the gold on packs rather than onon somethi I wont use only to play the singleplayer content. i'm rather low on gold as it is as I tent to play much less these days.

I rarely have any problem with any class being "overpowered" at the moment since I usually just tech and play whatever I want anyway. What is kind of boring though is that it is almost the only thing you see. People just don't play for "fun" (a figure of speech), they just switch to the next "overpowered" deck they find.
From rank 21 (I don't really play ranked, just casual) to rank 15 this month after the nerfs I met 19 Hunters, 3 druids, 2 Priests and 1 Warrior. I don't hate anything (besides old pirate warrior, just can not like that deck or the personality of people it brought out) but it is boring to meet the same deck over and over and over again. It was the same with druid whether it was Jade, Taunt, or any other of the various OTK versions, or Raza-Priest or Old Gods Shaman.
I can get a reliable above 60% win against hunter but that also means I would forsake nearly any other match up I get.
So instead of having a "bad time" playing I stick to casual and just play whatever deck I find fun and not really care if I win or lose.
Not unbeatable but the amount of times I've gotten totally destroyed on the first or second due to low amount of cards with almost no synergy going against almost the perfect counter with a good curve is way to high for this to be called a tuned experience.
Used to do this with a friend I used to work with. Like only cards that had characters with beards, only male/female, non humanlike(elf/dwarf/gnome or human)
It did make for some pretty intetesting decks to say the least.
You must not gave been around for Mean Streets of Gadgetzan meta. When fast pirate decks are good, they are GOOD. Pirate Warrior was one of the strongest decks to play against, and would often kill you by turn 4 or 5. We forget that there are just so many great pirate cards in the classic set, and they always need just ONE more card to make that OP broken deck. If pirate decks rule again, the meta may just be "who can kill the other guy the fastest."
Isn’t that the whole point of this game?
Sure it is, but if it becomes like in MSoG where you almost never had time to play a card above 5 mana that pretty much locks out half of the the cards from that expansion.
A design direction that directly would result in more than 40% of the released cards (not counting filler cards) would end up never see slay is simply a poor choice.
If that happens or seem to happen with the reveal I will simply stop playing altogether instead of going back to another MSoG.
I do not know what to say, but it seems, that they might lowered the drop rate from every 20th to around every 30th pack...
At least, that's what my Boomsday experience is showing until today. Worst expansion ever - pack opening wise..
I don' t know who told you 20, the pity timer for when you are guaranteed a legendary after the "in the first 10" is 40.
The average is 20, but for that to be for everyone getting 8 in 50 there are those getting 2 in the same amount.
Ignoring the first 10 packs and the guaranteed legendary within these packs, it's actually 4 legendaries out of 155 packs. Thats an average of one legendary every 38,5th pack. Wow, this is what I call bullshit.
I know, that the pity timer is 40, but how high are the chances to hit it 4 times in a row?
Sadly more common than you would like it to be. I've done it twice for 2 straight expansion with GvG and AT, and in AT 3 of those legendaries were duplicates (Acidmaw), didnt even play huntet.
I did different, Couldn't do it until I noticed that Spud M.E was a mech, as soon as I saw that I solved it . Took me nearly 10min though because of it, I just didn't see a way to get the numbers right, I just figured that the defile should be played last and only one of them needed :P
1. Magnetic Skaterbot with Spud M.E. 2. Attack River Crocolisk 3. Attack Spud M.E with Stampeding Kodo 4. BlackWing Technician 5. Shieldbearer 6. Coin 7. Coin 8. Twilight Drake 9. Defile
Don't be disappointed firstly i can assure you that you are geting a legendary soon thanks to pity timmer. The game has come long since the days where we opened dub-legendaries and no freebies.
I hope you get your legendary in the coming 3 offered packs which are offered with the puzzel lab!
And for next time save more gold simply if you do you dailies you can get 8400 gold each 4th month, if you don't want to pay you have to give the game som time.
Have a nice day and be positive
Save more gold only apply mostly for those that have played along time, if you start out you need the classic and atleast the current expansions cards. Doesn't leave much to save up for the next expansion tbh. Sucks, but if you dont play arena a lot and do well there you are in a bad spot as a new player in this game. Its simply not a new- and f2p-player friendly experience. The best time to start is at the standard rotation on a new "year" and that still sucks.
Played since release, 2832 wins. I don't really play much though besides the 5wins/month or rank 20 I don't touch ranked at all since Old Gods. I rather tinker with different kinds of themed decks in casual. But I play maybe every 2-3 days to do all quests saved up.

Like the druid shrine that gets attack based on the heroes attack at the end of turn.
Boss fight nr1:
Turn 1: Pounce + Claw = 4/7
Turn 2: Mark of the Wild = 6/9.
How do do beat that with your first round deck. Every time that boss comes round 1 or 2 its 99% instant loss.

I don't really care for to long games, but if turn 4-5 is the +80% of the games I wont have any use for the other 50% of all the cards released.
And that is disregarding filler card
