    THE NECROLYTE

A crusader of darkness that wields deadly shadow magic and an arsenal of grim weapons; one that summons armies of darkness to do its bidding; that which will sacrifice its own companions to achieve its own goals - Meet the Necrolyte!

Heya! Sidenote over here! A few bits of information on the playstyle of the class

The whole flavour behind the class is that of Darkness and shadows, Shadow Magic, and dark pacts of Sacrifice. Basically the opposite of a Paladin.

The playstyle would range from Aggro, to midrange, to a more control/stall/hand-oriented playstyle.

Strengths: Good single-target removal; Good board control; Both aggresive and control-ish; Powerful card generation.

Weaknesses: Drawing is a bit more limited; Lackluster AoE; Most powerful cards are at the expense of minions; Lackluster sustain.

    Legion of Darkness

If there is one thing a Necrolyte is feared for it's the horde of twisted fiends it can command. Using its Shadow Magic, this dark crusader can summon Shadows to assist it in battle. Both its Hero Power and many other cards are able to generate (1) cost 2/2 minions known as Shadows . You can then either play them, or hold them in your hand.

You can choose to play your Shadows more offensively, with cards like Lights Out , or maybe you want to keep them for a while and increase you hand size with cards like Darkblade , to boost other cards that benefit from a large hand.

    Whatever it takes...

The Necrolyte is feared for their disregard of life. It sees their minion's life as nothing but coal to fuel their own goals. As such, it tends to Sacrifice them to boost its dark powers.

    How does SACRIFICE work?

The way it works is, when a Sacrifice card is played, you can choose another minion (if not specified) to destroy. If you do so, the card gains a bonus. When you play a Sacrifice card, in similiar fashion to Druid's Choose One effect, the following will pop up. Of course, you're not forced to do so, that's up up you.

It usually works like a Battlecry, as it activates when the card's played, save for a few instances where it could trigger at the start of your turn, for example.

However, not all minion's are discontent with their work conditions. Some of them gain a bonus if they are Sacrificed; others Sacrifice themselves, even. Then there are those, like Deathrattle minions, that would die to serve their vile overlord.

    Eek! Oh, a shadow...

Lastly, let's talk about actual shadows. One mechanic present in the Necrolyte's library has to do with card copies. Having a quite powerful card generation ability, it can copy its own cards, or generate new ones, through various spells and minions. Then, many other cards interact with you playing the same card many times in a turn.

Take, for instance, Dark Legacy . This one's particularly stronger with lower cost minions. The more copies of that next minion you play, the stronger the card's effect will be, and the stronger you board will become. Perfect for a more aggresive Necrolyte.

    Card explanation

    • Lights Out: Say goodbye to those pesky candles! If you're holding many Shadows at once, this is a perfect way to overwhelm your opponent. It also benefits from both a control and aggresive playstyle. A perfect card for Shadow synergy.
    • Darkblade: A (dark) knight is nothing without its (dark) arsenal. A good tool for board control and to help you fill your hand even more.
    • Dark Rebirth: When a brewmaster is not good enough! Great for playing multiple copies of one card in a turn and Deathrattle and Battlecry minions.
    • The Scarecrow: Provides a good body and a strong effect when played on the perfect minion. Also helps with filling your hand.
    • Dark Legacy: If you have many copies of one card in hand, this can help fill your board with buffed minions. Works wonders on Shadows .

    A very brief explanation:

Basically, it complete replaces the textbox of whatever card is affected by it. Say, for example, if Mecha'thun was hit by this Battlecry, its text would read " Battlecry: Replace the effect of a random minion in your opponent's hand with this Battlecry". Meaning, it's original Battlecry wouldn't trigger when destroyed and, instead, spreads it out to one of your minions in it's place.

The effect can be reverted, though, by bouncing it back into your hand; the same way buffs and Silence dissapear when a minion is returned to it's owners hand.

Mods really making my night by releasing this.
Already had a Class Idea prior to the announcement so pretty happy no challenges up until Phase II (Even though I have Basic Set done so will most likely have to change some cards). Here's the idea so far:

    The Magician

3 Variations of Hero Power Token:

Due to the 3rd variant being strictly stronger than the Warlock Hero Power, I made the other two variants. The first one is my favoured one but I wanted to hear some opinions on it.

The general idea of the class is that the Hero is a magician, though the whole flavor of the class is more so that of "Preformers". Be it acrobats, actors, clowns... anything goes really. Everyone loves impromptu shows but a practiced performance will more often than not come out much better than an improvised one. That is where the new keyword comes in: SCRIPT.

The main goal of this class thus far is deck manipulation with the main targetted archetypes being Control and Combo. A magician must always have control of the situation and be able to weave his tricks together for the performance to go smoothly! Right?

As I said I already have the Basic set that hasn't been affected by any Challenges so I'll post my 3 favorite cards out of them outside a spoiler and the rest in one.

I also have some Epic spells and two Legendaries made for the class. Most of them are planned for Classic (Apart from Hoodini) but you never know what the challenges will bring.

And a card that is just purely for the flavor but can also show the Script keyword abit:

I appreciate any feedback and will try respond to any people who post before I go to bed tonight!

    Edit: Change Card sized abit.

Your class seems a bit more complex, so have a little patience with me.

    • I've never really liked HPs that generate spell tokens as I feel it'd make the class overly complex for beginners.
    • I like the focus of the class on drawing cards and, basically, tricking your own deck.
    • I don't reallt like the Script keyword, it's way too specific and, I feel, it makes cards overly complicated. Maybe you could try a keyword that does something when the card is drawn and such. Something that is more synergistic with card-draw, which seems to be a larger part of your class. That's just me, though.
    • If you want to keep it though, I'd showcase cards that shuffle other cards into the bottom of the deck. That, or maybe the Hero Power could shuffle a card from your hand into the bottom of your deck and then draw, or something like that.
    • I feel you focus too much on drawing cards and there are no other mechanics to check out in the class.
    • There's not much synergy with drawing, maybe you could come up with something cool that includes drawing? Something like, idk, Carnassa's Brood in the shape of damaging spells; you'd have to cycle through a whole deck while barraging your opponents with cards to the face.
    • I'd also consider including Discard into your class, since it also fits. The class would wield it in some way that differs from how Warlocks do it.

What do you guys think about these effects? Have I priced the mana right?

I tried to stick with the themes of each class, I'd want any overkill card to match this set, since I doubt we see Overkill again. So I let the artwork guide me, since there isn't much for trolls or dinos. Hir'eek's Pup is probably the weirdest. I'm assuming we'll see a few different ways for warlock to handbuff. This is kind of a grim patron+doubling imp in a single card. I kinda want to make Burning Magi into a shaman card, but it looks like they're going with a frog theme for shaman. Dinostrike is an agro card for spellhunter, kinda similar to the old Quick Shot.

Actually, Pup is the more interesting one. My guess is that it's cost is alright, though that depends on what handbuffs Warlock gets this expansion. But, judging from what we've seen so far, it looks good to me.

NEXT: A Mage Card that makes the Legendary Spell a whole lot better!

Next: A Priest card that interacts with Deathrattles, but doesn't trigger it.
