I've been getting good results with Hellfire (it's like your third and fourth Soul Rend) and also like a second Unstable Shadow Blast more than two mortal coil. Without Backfire and Raise Dead, sometimes we need ways to hurt ourselves a bit, especially when after playing the hero.

Fun to see Questlock stand a chance against this meta full of wide boards. Face Hunter and Deathrattle Rogue are losses, but it's always been that way.

Curious why no Raise Dead? Just seems like an auto-include in Zoo.

Why remove Kanrethad? I don't have him to test, but I assume he'd be awesome with all the demons. Jailer, Kanrethad, coin a turn 3 Drinker!

Nice deck. I'm trying out the same, good to see something different than pure Zoo, Quest, or Galakrond. Games are close, and the answers are in the deck, but overall its just not quite there. I took out School Spirits in favor of the Headmaster and a Dreadlord. Overall still feel like I need a little more Taunt or life gain against aggro. And maybe CThun for a second win condition against control/quest; there's not enough firepower and if Tick is buried you're just sitting around with 10 removal cards in hand.

Even at a 55%-66% winrate, it's still 50-100+ games to make the climb from D5. Aggro can save you time, but of course it should be something you enjoy if you're investing the time. Good luck! Nothing beats the rush of that "final boss" fight at 3 star D1.

Any thoughts on Cascading Disaster? Void Drinkers and Shield of Galakrond will upgrade it. Other than Malicia or full-Galakrond, it's probably the best swing on turn 7;  amazing counter to Guardian Animals or when Alura pulls out a Libram of Hope. Obviously slower than <card>Plague of Flames</card> but might let you push through instead of just resetting the board.

Added a small trap package with 2x Phase Stalker 2x Explosive Trap and 2x Pack Tactics and of course Dragonbane.

Minus Scalerider and the anti-weapon tech.

(Always hated Scalerider, found it inferior to Burrowing Scorpid but maybe that's just me)

I know it contradicts the dragon theme, but explosive trap is a lifesaver against Aggro (and 2 damage to face), and Pack Tactics gives you an extra dragon sometimes. Opponent will go for trades to protect their big guy from your explorer, or because they can't target the others with spells, so it's more free stormhammer swings.

Best games are turn 1 Demonic Companion or Intrepid Initiate, turn 2 coin into Stormhammer and swing, turn 3 Primordial Explorer and then continue to swing every turn, dropping a new dragon whenever they kill the last. Good to save one in hand for Rotnest or Corrosive Breath activation.

Curious to try Polekelt in here, since that would guarantee Rotnest Rotnest for the next two turns...

Thanks for the tech on Circus Amalgam, it's probably the best dragon in the deck other than Primordial Explorer and a great turn 4 drop after the hammer on 3. Excited to pull out the old Dragon Hunter cards.

But I had similar results as GamerPanda. Close to victory, but couldn't close out games.

Feels so wonderful to smack faces with Stormhammer again. But there's so many Taunts with 5-6 toughness out there. Paladin feels unwinnable and DH is over if they get enough lifesteal to sustain. Same could be said of just about any Hunter build right now though.

posted a message on Learning Zephrys, any tips?

Thanks all, the knowledge of set limitations is super helpful (I was hoping for Stickyfingers against DH) and knowing, if he doesn't read Deathrattle, then I might not get Silence too often.

Looking for quick guidance from experienced Highlander players on when to use Zephrys and what to expect. Incredibly powerful card, maybe the best, but there's definitely nuance and strategy in timing when to play him. Maybe I have a decent answer/trade, where I could waste Zep to get a better answer, but then won't have him for later. Of course there's no substitute for knowing the entire cardbase :) but the concept of, say, Harrison Jones for 5 on turn 7 against Self Sharpening Sword, lets one gameplan a bit.

Do you mulligan him, or play early? I usually throw away, hoping to save for finisher or swing turn. Is that right?

In Highlander Hunter, I'm usually hoping for Fireball; turn 8 hero power + Zep -> Fireball if they're at 8.

There's the "two damage to two enemies with lifesteal" at a cost of 3, so a turn 5 play. Or the "two damage to all enemies, heal two to all friendlies" at a cost of 4 so could be considered turn 6.

But I've seen cards that give Windfury, so that's more lethal calculus to consider. Against a Khartut Defender I'm usually hoping for Silence but never get it.

I know I'm years late to this party, currently stuck at Diamond 3; any Do's and Don'ts would be awesome.

Do you keep or mulligan Scavenger's Ingenuity? I hate it on turn 2 - terrible tempo and loss of a hero power - but turn 3 into big Wolpertingers or setting up a turn 4 jumbo Stalker and power for free trap is solid.

Where does Unleash the Hounds actually help? Warrior, Paladin, Druid, DH, all play tall and narrow; you're not getting trades and maybe 3 to face at best. I like it against Mage sometimes and definitely Galakrond Rogue, but that seems too narrow. I like Pressure Plate and Pack Tactics better.

Why Snake Trap over Pack Tactics? I'd much rather have another Phase Stalker, Sharpshooter, Leper (or maybe even a second Dragonbane!) and it's still 3/3 worth of body.

Agreed that Unleash the Hounds is usually junk.

Any consideration for a dragon package? Corrosive Breath is wonderful, especially with all the 1/3s out there, and Rotnest helps against Paladin and Druid, which are my worst matchups.

Same cost of 1, seems obvious that a 2/2 Taunt or 2/1 Charge is better than vanilla 2/2. Even more so in the late game, while BBM is best on Turn 1.
