posted a message on Pirates have ruined Hearthstone

I think to be fair this community has said that about any deck that has proved to be successful or popular. I understand that it is not fun to get your face bashed in by pirates, however Secret paladin was called cancer, face hunter was called cancer, freeze mage was called cancer, midrange shaman was called cancer, I have even seen reno decks being called cancer. The thing about card games that magic the gathering learnt the hard way is that no matter what the metagame is, there is always going to be at least one dominant deck, so in that sense people in this community will always call a deck cancer no matter what the metagame is. It is like no matter what cards blizzard make, any deck that that is strong in the metagame is going to be called cancer no matter whether the deck is aggro, midrange or control. Blizzard could release an expansion focused on a control metagame and print no minions below three mana and people will still find a deck to call cancer. The whole "This deck is ruining hearthstone" has been said in pretty much every single expansion.

posted a message on Combatting Negativity- What We Can Do

After seeing some of the stuff the devs get called on these forums, I am not surprised they are not as community orientated.  I understand that if you are a game developer you need a thick skin, but if a dev came on to this forum, they would just get abused like hell because of the amount of salty people on here. If a dev came on here and wanted to communicate with this community about why there are players unhappy with the game, on these forums what would most likely happen is that instead of a calm discussion, it would turn into a barrage of toxic abuse. If Ben Brode came on to these forums and opened a discussion thread, well I don't think I can even say what I think he would get called on here.

posted a message on This meta is the worst ever

I am enjoying this meta a lot more than the midrange shaman meta in Karazhan.  At least it does not want to make me punch myself. It is all a matter of opinion. Some people will agree with you, some people won't. I remember undertaker hunter after naxx and that meta sucked! This meta is not that bad as far as I am concerned.

posted a message on Those Jade Druid's and Jade/Aggro Shaman, how to counter those as*h*les?

For countering jade shaman and jade druid, I find that dragon priests are very good against the midrange Jade Shaman, however I find that Jade druid just stomps that deck or any control deck in general because against jade druid once you start to fall behind in momentum, they murder you with their late game of producing infinite cheap giant jade golems. Ironically Jade druid gets absolutely destroyed by aggro because its a deck that is slow to get going and can't reliably answer the early game onslaught from aggro decks.

People keep saying "i can't wait until reno rotates out" but because of how aggressive the pirate decks are, if reno rotates out, doesn't that mean that aggro does not have to worry about getting to turn 6 to kill you? I fear once reno rotates out, the game will devolve into an aggro fest unless we get some decent early game control cards in the next expansion. Reno jackson forces you to make your deck worse by having only one-offs in order to use its powerful effect. If it didn't than I would understand the "cancer" remarks. Besides when did it all of a sudden become cool to call things in general Cancer? The internet is weird.

once reno leaves. other Control and midrange decks will come back pirate will fade out
I don't believe that is true in my opinion. I have played against pirate decks with midrange decks and they can absolutely wreck you. I played a pirate warrior using a control warrior and I died at turn 5 because my draw was bad and his opening was crazy. I do not believe that pirate decks will simply fade out once reno rotates, I actually think its actually going to be stronger because that deck does not lose many cards from the next rotation. And control decks get stomped by Jade Druid. I think we need some better early game control cards in the next expansion

posted a message on No such thing as cancer decks

The fact that people use the word cancer to describe decks is disgusting in my opinion. As far as I am concerned the way this community works is that no matter what, the most played decks in any meta will always be descibed as "cancer." Secret paladin was considered cancer, grim patron was called cancer, reno decks are called cancer, face hunter was called cancer, midrange shaman was called cancer, freeze mage is called cancer, jade druid is called cancer, pirate warrior is called cancer, miracle rogue has been called cancer, the old undertaker hunter was called cancer. Every deck that has been very successful in hearthstone has been referred to as cancer. No matter what new decks are created by new expansions or cards, if these decks are successful than they will be considered cancer by this community.

The thing about card games is that no matter what, there will always be at least one dominant deck. Also the most competitive decks in card games always tend to have something that is unfair about them. There are decks that have been problematic, overpowered and just not fun to play against, but none of them are what I would consider "cancerous."

posted a message on BGH should not have been nerfed.

To be fair to the OP, the main reason why people got a bit pissed about the BGH nerf was because it got nerfed around the same time Blizzard released the 4 mana 7/7 shaman card. However I do believe it did need to be nerfed because at one point any minion which was 7 attack or more was considered trash unless they did something immediately on the board because they would just get blown away by " I got the beast in my sights." When GVG cards were being reviewed before they were released, streamers actually said that Troggzor the Earthinator was good and Dr Boom "Would not see any play" just because Dr boom was a 7/7 and Troggzor was a 6/6 so it avoided getting BGH' ed. Although in my opinion I actually think that BGH should cost 4 mana, 5 in my opinion is overcosted because nobody wants to pay 5 mana for a 4/2.

posted a message on How long should a game of Hearthstone last?
    Quote from AntonAmby >>

With aggressive decks it should last 7-10 turns, with midrange it should last 9-15 and with Control it can be everything between 15 and 40    :D

+1 to you sir, this is the best answer to this thread I have seen. I believe all players have different opinions of how long they want a game to last. There are players who actually enjoy long control orientated matches, players who enjoy fast games and players who enjoy games that last somewhere in between. A game should not just last a fixed certain amount of time because not all players will enjoy that.

posted a message on No such thing as cancer decks

It doesn't matter whether reno gets rotated out, pirate decks get nerfed, or the powerful shaman cards get rotated out, any new decks that comes out after the rotation and the expansion which is strong enough to become popular is going to get called cancer. Every deck that is successful is cancer according to this community.

The problem is that it seems that people want a meta in which they can play a variety of different decks or create new decks and be successful. The problem is that while this is the case at the start of a new expansion in which the meta is just a big mess, the meta settles down once the strongest decks are discovered and the strongest decks become the most popular decks to use because of how good they are and generally more players want to win rather than just having fun.

Once the strongest decks have been established, these are the decks you will generally come up against most of the time on the ladder, after a while some players get sick of these decks being used all the time and these decks get labelled as "cancer." Every single meta after a new expansion has gone like this. Any new deck that is successful in the next meta will get called cancer.

So the real question is what can be done to fix this?

posted a message on Are you satisfied with the meta?

I would say it is at least better than the last meta. People keep calling all the current decks cancer (which I think calling something cancer is just plain stupid to begin with in my opinion) but the tier 0 midrange shaman meta we had in karazhan made me want to punch myself. That meta was really not fun.
