Cathedral Gargoyle can now be a powerful turn 2 play for paladins if they get enough dragon support. Dude if paladin gets more dragon support cards in this expansion then dragon paladin may actually become a thing. Can't wait to see what the other paladin cards have got to offer.

They are finally trying to make dragon paladin a thing. In blackrock mountain we got a paladin dragon called Dragon Consort and even though it had a strong effect, paladin did not get any dragon support. Hopefully this time the devs gives dragon paladin the proper support for it to be a competitive deck.

Obviously strong if you can draw a combo piece such as a malygos or a a mecha'thun. The fact that it makes the cards it draws cost 1 may actually be worth it but you have to keep track of the cards you have in your deck because you don't want to whiff. If the card takes off in the meta I can see people absolutely hating it because it could potentially make OTK decks more consistent.

Also if the miniature tavern brawl gets brought back, boy this is going to be a fun card :)

Well technically it is a 2 mana 1/1 deal 2 damage to a minion. It can be good for removing a small minion while leaving a 1/1 body behind. Maybe it has some merit, the comments after my first one makes me take another look at this minion because I hardly ever see actual positive comments on this forum about a new card unless it is obviously super broken. You guys may be right.

When I first I saw this card on the home page it said it had charge and it would have been played in every aggro deck. Now it says it has rush and it will probably be an OK arena card. Damn I never really considered how big the power difference is between having charge and having rush.

I think I'll wait until I see at least 90% of the cards before deciding whether the expansion is going to be awful or not. The fact that there are no hero cards is a plus because they can be design nightmares that can warp the meta around them. I like the cards that I see so far.

Great body, powerful effect and even if you don't have a spell, it discovers a spell itself. Card is strong.

Not sure how good this card will be, but this card is much better than kobold monk. The effect of this card continues till the next turn even if it dies, while killing the monk removes its effect. I actually think this card may end up surprising people particularly if the meta becomes very combo orientated and you just need that one extra turn in order to win and not get combo womboed.

I like this card because 3/4 for 3 is well statted and it has an effect that may come in handy and is not totally broken as hell. This is what I call a balanced card.

"No, you are the one who is confused.  From https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-32/"

I knew you were going to use that statistic. Like I said I have a bias against Pirate warrior because that is the only deck in the game that has actually killed me on turn 3, And it is just my opinion that Pirate warrior was the worst offender, The decks I saw most during that meta was pirate warrior, jade druid and renolock.

So that is where I stand. And I have no interest in getting into a flame war over just stating my opinion on this thread's question because that is the only thing I came here to do OK? Peace.

Aggro Shaman? I think you are confusing metas dude. Aggro shaman was in whispers of the old gods with 1 mana rockbiter weapons, totem golems, the 1 mana 1/3 trogg that gained attack with overload, crackle, 4mana 7/7, unnerfed tuskarr totemic that could spawn totem golems etc. MSOG was defined by a rock, paper scissors meta featuring Pirate warrior, jade druid and renolock. And yes I am salty about pirate warrior because that is the only deck in hearthstone that has ever killed me on turn 3.

The user is referring to the following decks:

S33 Spo’s Jade Aggro Shaman - Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (16) Ability (10) Weapon (4)
    Loading Collection

    Aggro Shaman Post-Nerf
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (16) Ability (10) Weapon (4)
    Loading Collection

I know that deck. But in my personal experience Pirate warrior was the main offender during MSOG. I have always found Pirate warrior to be faster during that meta, thats all. Or is my opinion going to lead to a flame war over which deck is faster, because I am only here to state my opinion, not here to argue over decks.

Best era was league of explorers. Worst era was MSOG. Pirate warrior crushes jade druid, jade druid destroys reno decks, reno decks just about beat pirate warrior because that match up was basically whether pirate warrior can rush you down before turn 6 and if you actually draw reno by turn 6. But if pirate warrior got the nuts draw, they could kill you BY TURN 3! Seriously when you were playing against pirate warrior, you were under immediate pressure from turn 1 because of how stupidly aggressive and fast the deck was.

We have had broken as hell decks since then, but we have never again had a rock, papers, scissors meta.

The best deck by far in MSOG was Aggro Shaman.  It was just as explosive as Pirate Warrior, but it beat the crap out of Pirate Warrior.  It's early game minions (Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem) were better, it ran the Pirate Package as well, and  it's weapons (the two Claws) were just as good.  But it also had small AOE (Portal), and taunts (Feral Spirits), so the matchup was extremely favorable.  It's only when the nerfs to Spirit Claws and Small Time Buccaneer came that Aggro Shaman was slowed down enough to allow Pirate Warrior to "shine".

I'm not saying MSG was a good Meta, but with the large number of posters in this thread talking about MSG being defined by Pirate Warrior makes me wonder how many of them even played the game back then.

Aggro Shaman? I think you are confusing metas dude. Aggro shaman was most dominant in whispers of the old gods with 1 mana rockbiter weapons, totem golems, the 1 mana 1/3 trogg that gained attack with overload, crackle, 4mana 7/7, unnerfed tuskarr totemic that could spawn totem golems etc. MSOG was defined by a rock, paper scissors meta featuring Pirate warrior, jade druid and renolock.

It is my opinion so don't accuse me of not playing back then when my opinion is different then yours. And yes I am salty about pirate warrior because that is the only deck in hearthstone that has ever killed me on turn 3

"Zilliax does not even appear in every single deck."

He appears in a vast majority of them.

And most of the decks that DON'T ruin Zilliax either collapse or die on rotation.

So we're very much in a cause for concern here.

And you constantly ignore what myself and others are saying, and I'm going to start increasing the text size on my posts because I'm getting tired of people not reading what I type. NERFING ZILLIAX IS NOT THE ONLY SOLUTION TO HIS OVEREXPOSURE IN THE METAGAME. IT'S LITERALLY NOT EVEN THE SOLUTION I WANT. FIVE DROPS MORE SUITABLE FOR FASTER MIDRANGE DECKS CAN BE PRINTED SO THEY ARE RUN INSTEAD OF ZILLIAX, SO HE DOESN'T FEEL LIKE AN AUTO-INCLUDE IN 90% OF DECKS ANYMORE, THOSE DECKS WILL RUN THE NEW BETTER STATTED BETTER EFFECT FIVE DROP INSTEAD OF ZILLIAX, BRINGING HIS USAGE DOWN DRASTICALLY.

Do I need to go up to text size 20 before this finally sinks in?

Didn't even read your original message in the first place, I was only responding to the OP's original message so you can drop the font size. Yes printing better five drops would be great for the game, but what if these five drops end up becoming just as popular as zilliax? Than you have the exact same problem again.

I think we need more game modes because only having standard and wild gets incredibly boring. I am generally surprised that an option of having more formats in hearthstone has not been explored such as making actual game modes out of some of the more popular tavern brawls that we have had and actually having single player content similar to the dungeon runs that actually give you rewards. I feel that a reason why people complain about the meta or cards is because hearthstone in general gets boring. The game gets very old very fast because of a lack of variety and you end up playing against the same old decks and the same old cards over and over again whether you are playing standard or wild.

And if some newer decks arises from the new expansion, sooner or later you will start to get sick of seeing them over and over again. So why not have more game modes available to keep players interested? We have seen other tcgs have multiple formats and single player content that actually rewards players, so why can't Hearthstone?

In my opinion the card seems to be fine. It is a balanced card which is not over-centralizing to the meta, it is not a "I win when I play this" card, and it is a legendary so you can only run one copy of it in a deck. Zilliax does not even appear in every single deck.

The only issue that I see players having a problem with this card is that it is used a lot. Good cards are always going to get played a lot. But if we are going to start 'taking a look' at cards that are not broken but are just played a lot and they end up getting nerfed to an unplayable state or hall of famed, than maybe players should not complain about getting weak expansions full of garbage cards because any good cards are going to get nerfed even if they are balanced.

I am all for balance changes in hearthstone but we must not overdo it, because too many balance changes can be just as unhealthy to a game as no balance changes. We must not get to the point where players are calling for balance changes to a card just because we lost to it in a match. We don't want to be reduced to just playing with mediocre or meme cards. But this is just my opinion, I am certainly not an expert.

Baku and Genn are still going to be a massive issue for wild though. And how long will it be until over half of the classic set ends up being nerfed/ hall of famed? At that point the classic set should just be rotated out.
