posted a message on Daryl strategy shift?

I've had no problems with Daryl.  Make sure there are BOTH beasts and Murlocs in the game before picking Daryl, otherwise the pool of token generating minions will be limited.

Daryl's isn't my favorite, he's hard to get #1 with, but in a meta favoring divine shields, creating a big reborn divine shield Dragon or Deflectobot followed up with the dragons that grow when friendly divine shields pop is usually enough to be in the late game.

posted a message on Why the hell is Battlegrounds Galakrond lowest winrate?

Why the hell is Battlegrounds Galakrond lowest winrate hero?  I've stayed away from him mostly, then tried him and he's incredible.

He's nearly as good as Toki, possibly better and you can cheat out Tier 5 minions on the 9 mana turn easy, turn that Hogger in the Tavern into a Kalegos or the poison giving Murloc into a Brann and if you get a Junkbot instead of Brann you will probably turn the Junkbot into a Pirate Ship or Ghastcoiler the next turn.

I suspect players are using the hero power severely wrong, although one thing to keep in mind is that they slightly buffed the hero power with the last patch.

He's not a bad hero and with this "highroll" meta, being able to dial up a Tier 4, 5, 6 early is incredibly useful.

posted a message on New mode will ruin battlegrounds

If you get your MMR to be around 8000+, you'll start playing some "cheaters" that abuse disconnect/reconnect to have more time in the Tavern before everyone else to get the cherries and more time for Khadgar/Brann non-sense that takes too much animation time for those of us that play a straight game.

So I wouldn't sweat over this, get your MMR real high and you aren't getting your typical completely fair game every single game anyway.

The benefit of playing with friends far exceeds the risk the tryhards will do abusive things -- almost every game has that and Battlegrounds has had it since 2019.

Except if you've never been 7000+ MMR for a significant period of time, you won't encounter it because the tryhards aren't at 5000 or 6000 or even 7000 MMR.

posted a message on Finish Behind Guy Who Died 3 Turns Before

Hearthstone bugs are awesome.  3 players left.  And supposedly "Mr. Bigglesworth" who is Kel Thuzad when he fights because he quit.  Yet his icon to the left shows him alive with 7 health and my battles with him show me fighting a corpse if you hold over my icon to the left.

I finally get killed by #1 player.  Then I get the congrats you finished 4th place trophy.

"Mr. Bigglesworth" has been dead at least 3 turns, maybe 4 or even 5.  But I finish behind him.

posted a message on How can some people manage to rush to rank 5 or even 6 early and still have a decent board?

Tried Tiering to 3 on 6 mana with Skycap'n Kragg figuring I could use hero power on 7 to help fill my board.

Results were promising and within 3 turns I was in first place.  I got solid minions -- had 3x Monsterous McCaw, Rivendare -- but couldn't find Mama Bears or Hydras or even Sneed's to further solidify my board state over the course of 3 or 4 turns so I stagnated finished tied for 5th.

Tried Tiering up to 3 with Kael'thas Sunstrider myself, after making a fat 4/6 dragon on the 5 mana turn having a 3/3 and 1/1 to back it up.

The results were great.  Tier 3 has all the divine shield mechs and dragons, which I bought.  Finished #2 in the game and I took only took -4 damage on the 6 mana turn.  My divine shield minions easily won the 7 mana and 8 mana turns against the Tier 2 Murlocs and other stuff people had.

I plan to do this regularly with this particular hero.

Saw a player level up to Tier 3 on 6 mana playing Kael'thas Sunstrider.  I was opponent on 6 mana and dealt him 8 damage.

    Thought "Hmmm."

Several turns later, I'm matched up with again and he has 32 health and I have 20.

Guess it worked out for him, I half expected to not see him again or play his ghost later but maybe it is ok to level up on 6 with certain heroes.

Just wait until you have 4 triples in the first 7-8 turns and the minions offered each time are total crap like Strong Shell Scavanger when you have no taunts and the Junkbot when you have no Mechs.

I had a Shudderwock game with 4 triples and I was in 7th place with a rather crappy board left wondering "What the hell is going on?  I have had 4 triples and my board is total garbage that looks like the 7 mana turn."

With 8 players, occasionally you'll run into the "won the early game lottery" guy or even be that guy.  In this meta, it certainly does not mean he'll win the game and he might finish in 5th or 6th place.  The Tier 4, 5, 6 minions are typically what wins the game.

I'm glad to hear you are adjusting.

I will say this, the meta right now is tough, but it rewards decision making, clever minion positioning and calculated risks.

posted a message on Strange difficulty spike

A lot of players were getting fed cheese wins from Eudora, Megasaur and Cannon before the patch, but weren't really striving to master all the fundamentals and nuances of the game.

The new meta rewards statistical play more and mastering the small things that flip a -5 loss into a +5 win.  Do that 3 times a game and it makes a difference.

MMR tries to match you against your peers so you can enjoy the game and have fun --- so it is sinking you so you are matched up against the other players of your skill level.

You didn't enjoy all the losing games the against the "good players" and admit that the games were more fun once you got matched up with the beginners.  So the system is working and you are having fun.

If the issue is discovering your peer group is "the beginners", you can choose to learn the game fundamentals if that really bothers you.

posted a message on .1% to lose

My minions figure out very complex and creative ways to throw every battle possible.

I am never surprised when I lose due to a highly improbable series of events.

At least Nag Pagle got nerfed, although most of my memories of the minion are of the opponent suffering greatly due to Pagle doing something crazy like Egg->Golden Ghastcoiler-->Pirate Ship + Pirate Ship + Foe Reaper + Foe Reaper.

Player A vs. Player B. Both didn't attack first in the last 5 battles. Who's gonna attack first now?

Probably one of your teachers slapping you with a fish, if you think that scenario could happen if they implemented any possible fix.

posted a message on They need rule for First Attack

First attack is supposed to be a coin flip.  When you lose 3 winnable battles in a row because opponent attacked first, it feels bad.

The minions attack enough like idiots trying to throw every winnable battle as it is, letting every opponent attack first too is a killjoy experience.

This especially matters playing or playing against Pirates, but also in a meta where mega swipes are becoming common because of beasts.

Have some sort of counter that tracks "attacked first" and the player that has attacked first less goes first.

One of the better things about Battlegrounds is only bottom 4 players can fight ghost, they can fix this too.

I agree that battlegrounds is the best it’s been in a while but when half the tribes are stronger than the other half, it’s bound to stagnate.

Honestly, I haven't much been playing tribes.  I've been menagerie about 80% of the time, just fielding the largest board I can.

The exception:  if I go George The Fallen, I force Murlocs.  Poisonous divine shield Murlocs are still very much a thing with George The Fallen, haha!  It's actually a great reason to play that hero now.
