Thanks to those who gave feedback. Was trying to use the freeze mechanic as a means of putting a minion to "sleep," which is why it produced dream cards. But that clearly didn't translate so probably time to scrap the idea.
@Cheese I definitely prefer Penguin Hunter since the other two feel overly complicated. Penguin Hunter would be a nice counter to Raza but also to Death Knights in general. Why the name, though?
@Sinti I owe you feedback when you post something. (=
If I recall correctly, this sometimes happens when the "Wild Card" lines up with someone who was going to be a Finalist anyway.
Is that the only reason? How long in advance does it have to be picked? Could he just forgot to do it? I mean it doesnt rly matter in the end, im just curious.
I just lost track of time and didn't submit one. Looks like all the cards I liked made it to the finals anyway though.
I think I prefer the simplicity of the Dreamguard but I'm worried its too niche to be super interesting. Putress is intended to provide a board clear for classes that don't have a good one but it has some risk to it. Batty Strategy is a bit more of a half-cooked idea but I like the idea of filling your opponent's deck with cards that disrupt their strategy but that also have a cost to you. (It would be a great tech card against Razakus too).
I literally had this exact prompt in mind at one point for a competition. Then at some point between Seasons 5 and 6, Livienna hosted her own mini-competition with this exact prompt.
Well shoot. I checked all the prior competitions before proposing this prompt but didn't think to check non-WCDC competitions that have been hosted on this site. I'll defer to the mods on this one as to whether they want to replace it with something else.
Cogito's Completely Professional Review VI: Route 66
Utilizing meticulous theorems as well as cutting-edge algorithms, I have brought you, my dear friends, the inconceivable conclusion that my vote goes out to Late Bloomer, Emerald Aspectchanger, Leech Archer, Everburning Fury, Converted Knight, Scarlet Kneelmaster, Blast Goblin, and Cowardly Ogre!
I think I'm starting to look forward to Cogito's version of the finalist list more than the finalist list itself....
Voting for Relentless Weaponsmith, Cowardly Ogre, and Late Bloomer. (Also voting for myself but it's admittedly not even the best variation of Obsidian Destroyer this week)
Oh damn, I accidentally wrote in my card description "Restore (7) Mana Crystals" when it should be Refresh. (My card is Refreshing Elemental on page 11.) That's why you should never make your entry 5 minutes before the time runs out...
That kind of minor change is generally allowed even after submission. You are allowed to correct typos and even make minor balancing changes.
I hope my internet connection and computer are going to work with me from now on, so I THINK I can go back to WCDC :)
Two Halloween themed cards, with ideas I had from long time. Which one to submit? And sorry if ideas were used, I didn't check the submission yet.
No spooky elemental yet, waiting for the real Halloween with it ;)
I prefer Twilight Hunter. Cool effect that requires you to have some other means of killing the minion to gain charge. And it feels common-ish to me, which is a huge plus in my book for this week. Only thing is I might change the name - why would a "hunter" gain charge after its "prey" has been killed? Maybe something like Twilight Spotter (since it directs others to attack a particular target?) Not sure I love that name either.
I'm less interested in Bloody Prince since it would only be useful in extremely niche situations. 8 mana for a 2/3 body would be a very large tempo loss and you only get a substantial heal if the board on the other side is full. (And even then, by turn 8 most of your opponent's minions will likely have more than 2 health so its probably not a board clear).
Screw it. I’m going with Apocalyptic Doomsayer because it’s the most “common-y”. I’m not exactly sure what defines a common from a rare anyways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At this rate, we should have given up the pretext and just made Legends :/
The current "common" winning my page is an effort to improve Boogeymonster and even says so in the description... Admittedly a shitty legendary but a legendary nonetheless.
The Discovered Beast and Mother Raptor will receive the same Adaptation. 'Cause genetics and stuff.
It might be too late for a Dr. Rager, since Tox has more-or-less the same joke on page 3. Of the other two, I prefer Mother Raptor...but is a Discover + duo-Adapt effect too much for a Common? Compared to some of the overloaded cards in the Submission thread I'd say "no", but in reality I'd probably say "yes".
Voters don't seem to care at all about what is appropriate for a common. =P There are entries that would be considered decent legendaries that have been submitted with a white gem stamped on them. If you want to make it to the finals this week, seems as though you either need to ignore the "common" requirement or submit a Rager.
Tried really hard to create a card that would actually, legitimately be common this week (no giants, no unique or gamechanging effects, etc.). This is balanced around Obsidian Destroyer and is intended to provide a late-game battery for Elemental effects.
I wish everyone good luck in competing for second place behind Cheese's 20/1 Rager.

Here is my first thought for this week. Tried to go for a versatile effect that can be used offensively or defensively.
Also, I recognize that Valithria should have a dragon tag.

Happy Hallow's End everyone!

Just wanted to add yet another vote in favor of Cogito for the Fan Creations forum.
