posted a message on what are you excited for in Kobolds & Catacombs?

Man I actually forgot about dungeon runs because I've so wrapped up in the Hunter memes.

I'm excited to build some new decks mostly.

posted a message on New Hunter Spell - To My Side!

I'm going to make a prediction tonight. Next April, after rotation, minionless hunter will be a real deck that wins real games on ladder. I have tried to build minionless decks for a long time and now this thing has me excited. They want to take hunter in a spell only direction. That could be a unique style that no other class has as an aspect.

It doesn't have to be that good. I just want something for hunter that nobody else has. Generating minions from spells is actually a really interesting concept, there's no battlecries involved, it's all mindgames and manipulation. You bait your opponent into summoning your minions for you at a discounted rate with secrets. You get paid off with Spellstone into double Leok or Huffers or 1 of each. Then you have the DK to go the distance with.

Seriously why run minions at all with Rexxar in a deck? Nothing you draw after playing him will be as good as a Zombeast.

I know this card looks like trash. It is bad right now. I get it. However, I can appreciate what it represents for the future of the class.

I hadn't noticed this. When you line them up they do look like a raid party. Seems good. It would be pretty cool if they had connected entrance and exit lines when played against each other or like a guild slogan or something they all say for the rp crowd.

posted a message on best card of new set so far?

    Zola the Gorgon

Card goes in everything that wants value instead of tempo. Extremely versatile. May not be the most powerful card in the set but from a design standpoint it's my favorite.

    Quote from Alphalegend91 >>

Seeping Oozeling and Sergeant Sally are too meme worthy to compete in this meta to be completely honest

    Hunters Big Secrets
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (11) Ability (16) Weapon (2) Playable Hero (1)
    Loading Collection

heres a deck that's a little more streamlined to compete on ladder. This'll still probably get dunked on by patches/keleseth decks though...

So we're all generally agreeing on the list so far. What would the meta have to look like for something like this to be viable? Will it function? Yeah probably most games you can actually have this go well. Is it strong compared to tier 1 meta decks? Really not seeing it. If this is as good as we get this set why bother spending dust to craft the legends and epics?

And then sometimes they magically forget to spoil the only cards that matter in the set like Small-Time Buccaneer until the dump 10 minutes before release. AFTER they got most of the preorders.

The best cards are never the first cards you see. Prepare your jimmies.

posted a message on is control/n'zoth death rattle valid in this meta?

I played something like this not long ago. I really like Egg combos and i think Egg is one of the biggest sleepers in standard right now so even if you can't make this competitive at the moment, don't abandon the idea because it will be strong soon TM.

As far as your deck's overall viability, this isn't that great for ladder. For one thing, you have some slow operations going on like Marin and Tomb Lurker.

If you're looking for control warlock I think demons is the best way to go with Gul'Dan DK as the centerpiece. That deck is a solid tier 2 and should be getting a buff with the new cards coming out. Voidlord looks like a very strong difficult to deal with demon and it definitely wont be the only one yet to be spoiled. It may be too expensive to be played but Bane of Doom is looking better and better.

posted a message on The Hunter Impression

I play warrior in wow, I play hunter in hs. You need to separate your feelings from practicality. Each of the 8 classes in hs fill a role in the overall balance of the game (supposedly). Hunter has really never done that. Hunter's unique identity in this game is "find the win". It isn't strongly themed in anything other than beast synergy and it doesn't reflect the feel of the namesake class in wow like the other classes do. But what it does is turn every card in the deck into a chess piece and use them to get closer to winning every turn.

I'll explain. Most classes have the ability to build decks that play a "full game", essentially 15+ turns of back and forth mayhem until one side loses enough ground and somebody falls behind or dies to a combo. Hunter can't do that. It doesn't want to do that. It wants to use what it drew in the opener and the next 5 draws to set up a winning scenario. It doesn't draw many cards, so whatever you do draw you need to win with quickly. You want sly and sneaky? A real hunter player is always playing 5 turns ahead of his opponent. If I don't see the win coming 3-5 turns in front of me I concede because I know it isn't happening; something's gone wrong.

"ME GO FACE" is a BabyRage translation for "This hunter player had me from the first turn and I knew I couldn't win." Most people don't like losing to decks like that and don't want to spend time trying to beat them so Blizzard has started experimenting with alternative play styles for hunter. The result of that is a bunch of half baked decks and strategies that really don't match the class's core well.

Feels like Hunter is all over the place right now, but if you really look for it you find the class identity in your ladder rank.
