ilja615 posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 8.01 - Submission TopicPosted in: Fan CreationsYay! This is the first time i make a card for WCDC! I really like the challenge of this week, where the cards have to support a certain archetype.
Here's my card, for miracle rogue: The user creates mist by blowing into the cold dark night with his warm breath, and conceals in it. The user then lurks in his own created shadow preparing his sinister plans or envenoming his weapon.

Kovachut posted a message on CONFUSED : Legendaries for carft ?Posted in: Card DiscussionI will only mention two things:
- Look at SlydE's tier crafting guide, as it was nicely done for everyone with the same problem as you.
- Please, do yourself a favour and safe your dust for a whole month. The new expansion as in every year, will be released somewhere in the beginning of December, so I think you would profit more, if you wait a bit. My other advice is - don't craft cards, which will be rotated out soon (in April). Patches the Pirate had its reign, he won't fade away in the remaining 5 months, I'm more than sure, but I wouldn't craft cards like him so late. It's not worth it imho.

Xynot posted a message on Blizzard fanboysPosted in: General DiscussionA common tactic of those who can't argue their points effectively is to attempt to diminish the opposing position by highlighting flaws in the party delivering that position. This is a fallacious argument known as ad hominem. A good example is when someone disagrees with your conclusions on Naga Sea Witch, you label them as 'fanboys' instead of addressing the points in their position. If they have no specific reason why they don't agree, the onus is still on you to persuade them or accept that you have failed to do so - it's your argument, after all.

Zanywoop posted a message on TRIALS AND ERRORS (Class Creation Competition #5) - Phase I [Discussion Topic]Posted in: Fan CreationsWooooooo! We're back at it boys! Some general suggestions from the many times we've been through this.
- Start with a simple concept: Crazy ideas aren't bad, but root them in something accesible. Work with 0-1 keywords, do something new with it, and you can't really go wrong
- Keep the Hero Power hyper-simple: All the basic HPs are essentially 0-cost spells; Fireblast corresponds to Moonfire, for example. Not all have a direct correspondent, but they fit that power level. Also... any card draw hero power must give your class a severe downside. This isn't exactly Yu-Gi-Oh, card draw isn't the most broken effect in the game, but there's a reason there's no non-conditional 1-cost draw. Also, avoid keywords; They didn't appear in HS hero powers until Bloodreaver Gul'dan.
- Build in the context of when the cards came out: I.E. do some research of what keywords, effects and statlines were common at the time. Most of what we'll build is probably standard, but the basic set is the basic set. If you need a good example, compare Silverback Patriarch to Stonehill Defender (Though for the record Silverback was ALWAYS a weak card).
- The classic Legendary should probably be the game-clincher: King Krush, Archmage Antonidas, Prophet Velen, Grommash Hellscream, Edwin VanCleef, Lord Jaraxxus, Tirion Fordring, Cenarius and Al'Akir the Windlord. All of these have some sort of instant effect that is designed to close out a game. This doesn't mean you need an instant damage legendary; Jaraxxus for example was designed to cancel out the card draw and self damage HP in the lategame. However, I do see a lot of people have a fairly synergistic but not highly impactful legendary; These first round legendaries were overtuned, and when they were thrown down the boardstate should swing in your favour.
- Your class NEEDS a weakness: Hunter has terrible draw. Druid has never had good single target or even AoE removal. Warlock never used to be able to heal. Whatever your class does, it can do well, but be highly aware of what it can't do. If it does everything, it's overpowered and people will probably see that.
- Have fun! One of the big parts of this challenge that people love is the flavour of it all, having your effects parallel the characters lore. So have fun with your designs! Put some love into matching art with effects.
And just generally, have a good time! I know in my corner of the internet it's a time for old friends to grudgingly say cards made more sense in our day and bombard each other with horribly unbalanced concepts and fifty-bajillion tokens. However you do this comp, do it to have a good time.

darkhunter94 posted a message on Win TradingPosted in: General DiscussionThere's nothing wrong with trading wins in a friendly match. Not that I've ever heard of. You don't get the 10 gold bonus every three wins in that mode so it's not like you're exploiting anything.

HooliganPolygon posted a message on Revamping of Hearthstone Card Graphic DesignsPosted in: Fan CreationsAs a graphic designer / artist and a hardcore Hearthstone fan, I've decided to come up with some design updates for the game starting with card templates. I must say I find Hearthstone visually quite pleasing and entertaining. However, I don't feel like the templates they've been using for the cards are leveling up with the rest of the UI. Even though, they're matching with the general theme, they look a bit outdated and cartoonish in comparison to the rest of the game. They fail to emphasize the beauty of artworks in their full capacity. Therefore, I thought I could bring a bit more spark to those card templates and polish them for your eyes. Also, I made sure the new card designs wouldn't overload the game's graphics with increased file sizes. The system requirements basically stay the same.
My goals while re-designing the cards:
+ Increasing the legibility of the texts on the cards. Especially on mobile devices, it's not easy to read neither the name of the cards nor the descriptions.
+ Increasing the area spared for the artwork.
+ Giving cards more personality. Ie, Hero cards can evolve depending on which level the class you play is. When you level up your Warrior class from 10 to 20, your Hero card appearence may update automatically.
+ These cards should give the feel of collectable card / sticker books. Better looking card designs with more personality will enrich both pack opening and crafting experiences.
Things I plan to do with the Golden Cards:
+ All golden cards don't need to be decorated with leaves. Every sub-group may have designs that distinguishing them from other sub-groups. Golden Pirates may have Hook and Cannon instead, Dragons may have 2 dorky whelps, Beasts may have Claws, Mechs may have Gears and Lazers, etc.
+ Golden card text areas can be in class colours. I can safely say that they will have enough contrast against white texts for every class inluding Priest. I'm sure it would make those cards more enjoyable for lots of players.
Here are the some examples of the design changes, I made. I hope you'll enjoy them. Depending on the feedback and interest it will gain, this project will include cards from other classes and also Spell and Weapon cards too.
Constructive criticism is always welcome.

DrNoOne posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 8.21 - Submission TopicPosted in: Fan CreationsIn line with the fantasy of multiple attacks being the strength of dragonhawks (they always appear with Windfury in Hearthstone), and pushing aggro/tempo mage to care about board presence (with Windfury minions giving you +2 each turn, this would promote some interesting deck building)

Azshara posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 8.20 - Submission TopicPosted in: Fan Creations"Never feed a Wolpertinger after midnight. Feel free to get it wet, though."
The idea for this card is that it starts off as a sub-par minion, but if it's able to survive Overkilling a minion, the Wolpertinger transforms and becomes more powerful. This makes it an effective answer to early game 1/1 minions! Buffing this minion can help activate the Overkill effect, but it'll lose those buffs upon transforming, so choose wisely.
Since it pretty much transforms into an Ironfur Grizzly , I elected not to create a token.

I like the Battlecry for the card a lot.... But i see absolutely no reason why this has to be a Hero Card.
The Hero Power is barely an upgrade, so the Battlecry effect is the only really valuable thing about the card. II guess the only reason this can't just be a minion, is because of how Yogg sops casting when he dies.
Really like the Battlecry, although i'm exceptionally disappointed by the Hero Power.

The reveal in 30 (now 27) hours certainly isen't Krag'Wa.
We know for a fact this is the artwork, that is going to be used:

We know for a fact that the Hunter Champion, Zul'jin, will be a Hero card.
He should be revealed at 8:00 GMT tomorow.

Did you REALLY have to post that?

These look absolutely stunning!
I really like what you did with the colors, alongside all of the additions. The more darkish colors really suits Warrior and i like what you did with the borders. I also agree that these borders gives the cards quite a bit more personality.
I'm not sure i like the gap below the nameplates tho. It shows nothing of importance on the artworks (Like Dr.Boom's Mech's Feet), while creating this sort of "empty" standalone space, that doesn't really feel like it suits. It's a lot better, with the sort of visual bling, like on the upgraded Garrosh card, while it seems awkward to me personally for the other cards.
But i personally find it really cool overall! I wish i had the skills to create these sort of revamps, as it would be the coolest thing ever over at the Custom Creation forum.

Guy put it up on his Youtube Channel. It was only up for like 20 seconds, and had 3 views.

This is just as much Aggro, as the current existing Aggro decks are.
These just list under the "Face" category of Aggro decks. Just like "Fatique" is a category of Control decks.
