Livienna posted a message on [Expansion Competition Finalist] The Great ThawPosted in: Fan CreationsIntroducing...
An unusual warmth has settled over the wintery landscapes of Azeroth... from Northrend to Winterspring, snow is melting, flowers are blooming, and dormant beings are awakening. The rumors are true: SPRING IS COMING.
"The Great Thaw" expansion is all about the clash of Winter and Spring. We have Frostsabers, Ice Elementals, and Avalanches, as well as Forest Spirits, Flowery Glades, and Woodland Creatures. Similar to Goblins vs. Gnomes, this expansion is not set at a certain place or event, but is instead a general theme that permeates all over. Pushing for more control-style decks, this expansion includes a few more instances of the Sherazin Dormant mechanic, more board control spells/weapons, and two* new keywords:
*I also use the unofficial keyword Elusive (the Faerie Dragon effect) but since it's not a new mechanic, I'm not highlighting it here.
About the Keywords
- Chill -
Chilled minions have a shimmering light blue mist surrounding their token. The Chill takes place at the end of each player's turn. This mechanic encourages trading; it's not often that a Chilled minion will last long enough on board to accumulate a ton of damage from the Chill effect. Also, it should be noted that a Chilled minion is being debuffed, NOT damaged - and thus won't trigger Enrage and damaged minion synergy.
- Warm -
Examples of this currently in the game are Shifter Zerus and Molten Blade. Like these cards, your opponent will not see the trigger take place, the trigger will occur before the card is drawn to start your turn, and cards kept in your mulligan WILL warm on turn one.
Here's how Molten Blade looks with the new keyword text:
The sun icon tracks the number of turns a card has Warmed. In this example, Blossoming Nymph has been kept in hand for 3 turns and is buffed to 4 health. The icon doesn't appear on a card until the Warm count is at 1 or more.
Huge shoutout to ZardozSpeaks for helping me with this graphic!!
Class Cards
- Druid -
themes: Beasts, Control
- Hunter -
themes: Beasts, Chill
Clarification: Minions that are already Chilled will not be targeted by Elondria's Ice Barrage (unless all enemy minions are already Chilled) similar to how Demented Frostcaller works.
- Mage -
themes: Chill, Secrets
- Paladin -
themes: Warm, Dragons, Divine Shield
- Priest -
themes: Warm, Silence, Elementals, opponent's hand
- Rogue -
themes: Chill, Stealth, Milling
- Shaman -
themes: Freeze, Murlocs, Elementals
Clarification: This class was created before Frozen Throne was released, thus before we had Avalanche in-game.
- Warlock -
Themes: Chill, Warm, Demons
- Warrior -
themes: Chill (especially self-Chill), Warm, Taunt, Control
Neutral Cards
- Common -
Frost Whelpling is just learning his skills and can't control his Chilling frost breath (btw - see Frost Drake below for the grown-up version of this little guy!). This is also an example of the general push for control-style decks in this expansion... he's a strong 1-drop for decks that don't want to flood the board. Also, as the Elven Sharpshooter warms, her text would change in the way that text for spell damage does. So for example, after being in your hand for 2 turns, her battlecry text would read "Deal *3* damage to a minion."
- Rare -
Iceshard Elemental is an example of a minion that doesn't like to Warm in your hand. Play him as early as you can, or he'll melt altogether (if his health reaches 0, he can still be played - and would trigger things like Knife Juggler - but would die instantly).
- Epic -
The wording for Arboreal Giant was much debated, since the text could also read "Warm: Reduce the Cost of this card by (1)." However, I've chosen to keep it in line with the other giants, whose texts all begin with "Costs (1) less".
- Legendary -
Mith'ra, Spirit of Spring and Lae'ra, Spirit of Winter are Sister Spirits that are said to be battling over control of Azeroth. Lae'ra's hold over Northrend and other snow-covered regions is waning, and Mith'ra has taken the opportunity to Warm the lands and Restore life. Lae'ra, meanwhile, is filled with vengeance and is taking it out on minions that can't handle her Chill. And the others, well... she'll just Freeze them where they stand. Also, I feel like I should address how these two cards interact xD The ruling is that Kalecgos cannot be made Elusive. This is one of those unspoken rules of Hearthstone, something DisguisedToast would make a video about upon release ;)

silverdono posted a message on New Card Revealed: Meat WagonPosted in: Newsthe problem with the card is the 4 mana cost, if it was 3 mana it will be much better, but wasting your turn 4 to play a 1/4 which will be ignored is so bad tempo, so you will have to trade it in your turn and still get a bad minion
and yes combo it with attack buff card would be good if the text was "summon a minion with 1 less attack " but getting a random minion that has any less attack is a huge gamble. at least with Barnes you will have a 3/4 body + a 1/1 minion
but this card will be cool to make a fun meme deck

MrZeplin posted a message on New Card Revealed: Meat WagonPosted in: News...This card is really bad.
Its a 4 mana 1/4 that can only summon zero attack minions on its own.
Obviously this is a minion that incentivises buffing, but usually you want buffed minions for a lot of board presence. You don't put Spikeridged Steed on a minion just to kill it off for a Stegodon.
Even if you do buff it, with Kings say, it can still pull a Hydrologist from your deck. And then your sad.
Really not a good one.

Livienna posted a message on Expansion Creation Competition - Phase II [Submission]Posted in: Fan CreationsHi everyone! I would like to thank a whole bunch of people - Broeck1, CecilHoshino, Cogito_Ergo_Sum, Demonxz95, Mewdrops, Shatterstar1998, SnorlaxBR, ShadowsofSense, Teknician, ThisOtherToxGuy, and Zence - for their feedback during this phase. I leaned on a TON of awesome people to make this set, and it's SUPER appreciated!!!! :D
So without further ado, I give you...
An unusual warmth has settled over the wintery landscapes of Azeroth... from Northrend to Winterspring, snow is melting, flowers are blooming, and dormant beings are awakening. The rumors are true: SPRING IS COMING.

Pushing for more control-style decks, this expansion includes the Sherazin Dormant mechanic and three new keywords (really two):
About the Keywords
Elusive - This is simply the Faerie Dragon effect. I know Brode said they don't intend to make this a keyword as it would be too confusing for new players, but hey this competition is just for fun and I want it :D
Chill - Chilled minions have a shimmering light blue mist surrounding their token. The Chill takes place at the end of each player's turn. This mechanic encourages trading; it's not often that a Chilled minion will last long enough on board to accumulate a ton of damage from the Chill effect.
Warm - Examples of this currently in the game are Nerubian Prophet and Shifter Zerus. Like these cards, your opponent will not see the trigger take place. I should note that most Warm effects encourage you to hold cards in your hand, however some are still stuck in winter, and will lose value as they Warm.
Here's how Nerubian Prophet looks with the new keyword text:
The sun icon tracks the number of turns a card has Warmed. In this example, Blossoming Nymph has been kept in hand for 3 turns and is buffed to 4 health. The icon doesn't appear on a card until the Warm count is at 1 or more.

As the Elven Sharpshooter warms, her text would change in the way that text for spell damage does. So for example, after being in your hand for 2 turns, her battlecry text would read "Deal *3* damage to a minion."
Rares
As you can see, this expansion has flavorful tribal synergy cards (and will continue to with the class cards!!)

Tokens
In terms of flavor, the idea here is that the Murlocs make such a racket that they wake up the Leviathan, and the damage spells release the Dryad from her roots by cutting away at the vines. Hope you like!!

"The Great Thaw" expansion is all about the clash of Winter and Spring. We have Frostsabers, Ice Elementals, and Avalanches, as well as Forest Spirits, Flowery Glades, and Woodland Creatures. Pushing for more control-style decks, this expansion includes the Dormant mechanic (as introduced by Sherazin, Corpse Flower), and 3 new keywords (really 2).
New Keywords:
Info on the keywords under the spoiler:
Elusive - This is the Faerie Dragon effect. I know Brode said they do not intend to make this a keyword as it would be too confusing for new players, but hey this is just for fun and none of US are new players... so yeah. basically, I WANT THAT TEXT SPACE!!! xD
Chill - Chilled minions have a shimmering light blue mist surrounding their token. The Chill takes place at the end of each player's turn. This mechanic encourages trading; it's not often that a Chilled minion will last long enough on board to accumulate a ton of damage from the Chill effect. There are effects that Chill minions and minions that are Chilled from the start, as a drawback.
Warm - An example of this currently in the game is Shifter Zerus. Like Zerus, your opponent will not see the trigger take place. Most Warm effects encourage you to hold cards in your hand, however some are still stuck in winter - and will lose value as they Warm.
Example of how the Warm mechanic looks/tracks in your hand:
Imagine the blood icon under the mana cost is a flame icon instead. This tracks the number of turns a card has Warmed. In this example, the card has been kept in hand for 3 turns and is buffed to 4 health.
Showcase Cards:
Info on the cards under the spoiler:
Blossoming Nymph - This nymph is thrilled about the warming lands, and grows tougher with each passing turn. She is a basic example of the Warm keyword in action. Unfortunately the only card in my showcase with spring flavor, but just wait 'til you see what I've got in store!!
Greater Wind Spirit - A spirit borne of the winter, this guy starts worse than even a Wisp. But with a quick self-heal, the spirit grows and changes, and becomes a burly 3/4 for 3 mana (of course, you get the heal as well!). Perfect for turn one when you don't have a turn 2 play, and a nice example of the design space opened up with the Dormant mechanic.
Spectral Tiger - Stranglethorn Tiger's more epic brother (see what I did there?). He's an example of the Chill mechanic (impacting both sides of the board, in this case!), as well as Elusive. And yes, he's meant to not have the Beast tag - just like the Spectral Spiders that spawn from Haunted Creeper ;)
Kalecgos - Current ruler of the blue dragonflight, this guy resides in Winterspring and is thus witness to the might of the Great Thaw. As you can see, his arcane power brings all the spells to
the yardhim. This is the anti-Elusive, useful to protect other minions and also your hero from pesky burn-from-hand lethals! Also interferes with the Priest and Mage hero powers. And as a former servant of Malygos, he has mirroring stats. I know this 'spell taunt' concept has been done before, but it's a good example of the flavorful, control-style cards you can expect from this expansion. -

Livienna posted a message on Custom Class - "Wardens of Winterspring"Posted in: Fan CreationsHi all :D I'm very pleased to introduce my first custom class. As you can see, it's a work in progress as it goes up through LoE, with deck recipes that only include Basic and Classic cards... I'll be updating this post and bumping the thread whenever I make a significant change.
I appreciate any and all feedback :) Thanks so much for checking this out!!
EDIT 5/19/17: Old Gods and Karazhan have been added, as well as a whole new Cards by Synergy section and a Card Spotlight section!! I've also reorganized the sets by rarity, added the Justicar hero power (whoops, totally forgot that!) and revamped the Classic deck recipe (thanks to DKPaladinMDL I was able to play test it a bit!). Also a HUGE shoutout to The_Odinson for being a fantastic class creation editor/mentor. This class is what it is because of his guidance :D
Wardens of Winterspring
a custom class by Livienna
Lil’lyn Windsong has taken her father’s place as the chief of the Wardens, and is a fierce, loyal leader. Stalwart in her devotion to the Goddess Elune, Lil’lyn relies on Elune’s guiding Light to show the way forward. The Wardens use ancient elemental magic to Chill their enemies and are adept at archery and mastery of beasts.
Background
Original Lore:
Many years ago, a select group of night elves led by Weoryn Windsong sought sanctuary in a snowy valley east of their homeland after the Great Sundering. They soon learned that they had inadvertently settled in a land of perpetual winter. Not ones to give up hope, they named their valley Winterspring, and dubbed themselves its Wardens.
Since those times, the night elves welcomed various other groups into their fold, especially Gnomes, Humans, and Draenei, all of whom were seeking sanctuary within the natural protection of the valley. Calling on the knowledge of all their combined ancestors, The Wardens of Winterspring took in masteries of both hunters and spellcasters. They are adept at marksmanship and bestial mastery, and they practice an ancient magic connected to the elemental powers of Air and Ice. They also have a distinct advantage over their enemies due to their unwavering ability to make good use of what is dealt them, while others are left burning their resources. Strong and wise, the Wardens are ready to defend Winterspring from the forces that threaten it.
Class Play Style:
The Warden is a versatile class and can thus be played in many different ways. A control Warden uses removal to control the board and overpower their opponent in the late game with hard-to-remove minions and burst damage. An aggressive Warden uses these burst spells in addition to a strong early game, often taking advantage of the class’s Beast synergy. The Warden also supports a Mill style of play with ways to add cards to your opponent’s hand and draw cards for your opponent. And with good ways to heal their hero, Wardens are able to keep up with aggressive opponents that benefit from extra draws. Finally, the Warden-only keyword “Chill” (introduced in the Expert/Classic set) helps to control the board with a damage-over-time mechanic.

I'm not 100% sure how this helps new players all that much. You don't get any real consistency from it unless you play tons and tons of games, so instead of building one deck and learning it well you just play a different deck poorly over and over. For skilled players on F2P accounts or just looking to have a little fun/variety this card is great. As a learning tool its horrible.
7
I also don't get why you wouldn't play this. I actually saved my from the previous event, because I wasn't that interested. I did very happily play 4 free Dual Class arenas though. Great fun, very cool concept, and lots of interesting choices.
10
You are mistaken. They said instead of doing 2 expansions and 1 adventure per year they were just going to do 3 expansions, that includes the additional free bonus adventure content we got with Frozen Throne though.

What the actual fuck is blizzard going to do about Reno Priest in Wild? That shit is never going away and its completely fucking stupid. Honestly, what the actual fuck is fair about that shit? You aren't "limited" in any way by the 1 of policy, and you get to play 3 completely insane cards as well. So you're playing a bunch of the best cards, plus you can machine gun the fuck out of people. Jesus fucking christ I want to play one fucking game against priest where they don't play fucking Raza. Just one fucking time!!!!!!! HASLGKJSDAGSDAOKGFJ PSDAGJ SDFGSA FUCK! FUCK FUCK FUCKING FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only is it already horribly unfun in terms of them just getting to rape everything you're doing into fucking oblivions, it also takes forever every turn because of the bullshit hero power reset. So either concede right away, or you spend way to long each fucking turn while they wait on their reset after every fucking card they play. SAJGSDAJG SAL:GJSDAPSKDJAG SJADOPG SJAGOPSAJ G!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3
Yep, ready to never play this shit game again. The player base is just horrid garbage. And the games current state doesn't seem like its going to improve. No reason wasting more time on it. Thanks for the few fun times in the early stages.
6
Honestly, the community makes this game just as bad, if not worse than it already is. The modern internet age is just full of assholes. Thanks world, for being shitty. No wonder there are so many fucking terror attacks and crazy people in countries like North Korea. Because most of us can't even be civil to each other for any reason. We've lost our modesty and humility and become a bunch of self absorbed egomaniacs. Its a fucking game. Holy shit.
2
Add someone. Act nice. Say gg, have a conversation. Mention one time that you think the meta is stale. Get called a salty cunt that needs to quit playing......What the actual fuck is wrong with people.

OK, here is my stupid idea. For a point of Reference, Savage is a special challenge Tamable pet in the Jade Forest. You have to cast flare and tame him while he's in the area otherwise he's always in stealth and can't otherwise be tamed.
