posted a message on Is Ozruk a safe dust?

There is no risk of him being nerfed so it is improbable there ever will be a 'good refund value' for him. So I think there is no risk that you will get a better deal in terms of dusting the golden.

But what about the normal? Now, are elemental decks good and does Ozruk fit into them well?

    https://hsreplay.net/cards/#rarity=LEGENDARY&sortBy=playedWinrate&text=ozr

Elemental decks that run Ozruk have a 51% winrate. This is actually higher than The Caverns Below. Now the played winrate for Ozruk is actually lower than the deck winrate, so Ozruk is not the 'playmaker' of elemental decks although he does fit into them well. But with this in mind, I would not encourage you to dust Ozruk since elemental decks are in a pretty good place.

My verdict: dust the golden, keep the regular

If you have 0 Ice Block, I would consider crafting that and experimenting with it a little bit. Ice block is a really important epic that fits into a lot of decks. But if you end up not liking freeze mage after all you would only be 400 short off your Leeroy.

To craft Gazlowe you would have to make sure you select "all cards" rather than standard cards since GvG is in wild. (I also don't recommend crafting Gazlowe as a f2p player)

Your curve is the rate of different mana costs of your cards. You want a good curve, so that you can play high value minions on each turn. i.e., you want to be able to play a solid 2 drop followed by a solid 3 drop followed by a solid 4 drop, etc. Elementals are good for this since they create more cheap minions for your hand which allows you to autocorrect your curve on the fly.

Tempo is the advantage on the board your minions generate for you. Consecration helps you regain tempo when you begin to lose it, and Fire Plume Phoenix helps you establish tempo on the board in combination with your buffed minions. Your deck has options for two damage, three damage, and four damage removals, which gives you a range of options for holding board control.

posted a message on I've been playing Gwent all weekend

I finally got into the beta for Gwent this weekend, played for about two hours yesterday, and... idk. I think their 'new player experience' needs a lot of work. Every 'practice' deck I tried vs the computer, the computer had a bunch of elite cards that instantly shut you down. It felt like my first impression of the game was that it was pay to win and I wasn't even playing against humans.

Yeah the inference from my post is that it does not fit into your list, since you're also not running Thing from Below. You would run it to activate quest, or you would run it for Thing from Below, but if you're not doing either there's no reason for it to be in your deck.

Serious props to Pikachu for keeping it together in this thread.

To the OP, in terms of deckbuilding goals, your main quest right now is probably going to be to find replacements for the C'thun cards in your deck. Right now C'thun is a very weak win condition since you primarily rely on elemental power, but since there's few alternatives in your card pool you will need to find some more consistent power.

My recommendation at the moment would be to focus on crafting (or ideally opening) 2x Stonehill Defender. This is a very powerful card in paladin because the chance of discovering a Tirion Fordring or Wickerflame Burnbristle is very high. This will give you access to win conditions without actually having to craft those particular legendaries, instead only two rares at 200 dust. For these I am imagining you replacing your c'thun 4-drop and c'thun himself.

To replace your c'thun two-drops, I recommend crafting 2x Hydrologist. Although no elemental synergy, this will give you access to secrets on the fly to react to what your opponent is doing and the board state. Discovering a secret is definitely worth 1 hp on each of the bodies.

Honestly I think you will find it difficult to advance to rank 5 in the current meta with your card pool, although it is not impossible, and bear in mind rank 5 is the next big improvement after rank 15 so if you do not want to commit there's not a big reason to float around on rank 15-10 if you ever start to get frustrated. I would focus on arena, where there will be more balance in card pool and where you can get a sense of fun card interactions. You seem to already have a very good sense of curve and tempo.

Think of it as a 0/3 taunt with a 1/1 body that adds a tick to the quest. The statline and synnergy is there, but it doesn't naturally fit into true murloc tribal decks because in those decks the goal is to win actually before the quest is complete. For that it is actually too slow. However in a midrange shaman, as a synnergy generator with the 5/5 taunt, it's basically fine.

I crafted edwin for this deck, then removed him a week later. Too often he's just a dead card. I will find a place for him later.

You cannot just play a deck. You must become one with the deck. Let the magic flow through your veins.

posted a message on which legendary would be most impactful

I don't paladin main but Wicker Flame is run in 12% more paladin decks than Rag according to this site, which to me suggests it's the better craft since you can fit it into a wider variety of paladin decks.

A lot of mystifying plays there. Why did he keep the 6 mana 4/4 in opening hand? Why didn't you alchemist the doomsayer?

posted a message on Is it Time to Craft Legendaries Yet?

Patches is also playable in druid. His effect is strong enough that he's a pretty safe craft, although you do have to bear in mind that every game you draw him (instead of activating his effect from a pirate), you are a whopping 6% less likely to win the game. He is a very swingy card one way or the other.

Despite the vitriol it has spawned, the winrate for Caverns is not actually that high among the playerbase as a whole. There is a fair amount of luck involved with the card and a lot of decks are teching to punish that deck specifically because of its popularity.

I haven't been playing much Aya in the last week but she's one card that creates three bodies without requiring synergy. Objectively speaking, she's playable even if you have 0 other jade cards in deck, simply for the potential bloodlust possibilities she brings. A lot of people are still running Jade Lightning and Jade Claws even in heavy elemental decks so even if you plan to go elemental, Aya still might be an OK craft.

Kalimos has one of the higher winrates of Un'goro legends. If you look here: https://hsreplay.net/cards/#rarity=LEGENDARY&sortBy=playedWinrate

Kalimos is in a deck that wins 55% of the time and when he is played the game is won over 60% of the time. That means that elemental shaman is in a good place right now and that Kalimos is a play-maker in that archetype.

posted a message on Is Quest Warrior Stronger Without Quest?

I know the answer is probably no, but I was wondering since I was looking at this: https://hsreplay.net/cards/#rarity=LEGENDARY&sortBy=playedWinrate

For Fire Plume's Heart, it says the deck wins 55% of the time, but the deck wins when Fire Plume's is played 53% of the time. This says to me that the Quest Warrior is more likely to win in games where it mulligans the quest.

So I'm trying to decide if the quest is worth crafting. In games where you don't think the game will last long enough to complete the quest, you are more likely to win without having the quest in the deck. And then there simply is a lower winrate against mirrors and control decks. I guess having not played the deck yet (having not crafted the card) I don't understand when or why you would mulligan the quest.

posted a message on Patience: waiting for the meta to settle

I dropped 4800 on Finja, the Flying Star, Leeroy Jenkins, and Edwin VanCleef. Each fits in at least three different decks in both wild and standard so I have no regrets. Still floating another 3200 until the dust settles and hoping whatever deck emerges doesn't require more than two legends I don't have lol.

Half considering Wickerflame Burnbristle and Raza the Chained just because I know I'm never buying enough Gadgetzan packs again to get another legend from that set and it'd be nice to be more or less done with it.
