I'll be curious to see if it resets when you get it back with the frog.

No, overloaded spellstones do not reset

Are you sure? I mean, it is entirely possible, if you recast the Hunter spellstone with Zul'jin it will cast whatever upgraded version you played before.

I assume it will reset, but it might not. The difference might be that the spellstones actually transform into new cards (with their own name), while the schemes do not, but then again, if you return cards like Janalai they don't reset either, even though the card text doesn't change. Likewise, if you steal cards from your opponent they remain as "charged" as they were in the opponent's hand, including cost reductions or other buffs.

I guess I'll have to wait and see.

posted a message on New Neutral Legendary - Chef Nomi

I think some combination of Myra's, Shadowstep and maybe Academic Espionage as insurance could make this into a solid Tier 3-4 deck. A full board of 6/6 on turn 7 and 8 is not that easy to deal with, and maybe Rogue gets some more stuff to get to that. And with Elven Minstril and That flute demon it shouldn't be too hard to draw Nomi before playing Myra's. Playable at the very least, though potentially not super reliable.

posted a message on first expansion without Ben Brode ?

I'm not sure how big of an impact Brode had overall, but in the end it is likely to be neither good or bad, but averaging itself out (somewhat).

I guess the thing about designing a game like Hearthstone is that people want change, new mechanics, powerful cards, but also want things to remain somewhat the same, keeping the identity of the thing intact. And that is a fine and difficult to maintain line. Too much new and OP stuff and the game spirals out of control, too little and it feels stale and stagnant.

I like the direction HS appears to be taking, reducing power levels and so on, rotating oppresive cards like Baku and Genn, but it comes with the risk of having it feel underpowered and slow in comparison to the last two years or so. Hopefully they had some good ideas to add some new, fresh aspects, but it's too early to tell.

In either case, the praise or the blame is to be put on the entire team and not just one guy. Even the game director should be held responsible by the other developers and play testers, and if they fail to inform their bosses about fundamental flaws in card design (Rogue Quest, Keleseth, Odd-even) then it is at least in part on them too.

But for now I'll give the new generation of HS developers the benefit of the doubt. And independent from that, even with all the issues over the last two years, I personally enjoyed the game quite a lot and hope I will continue to do so after what is probably the biggest shake up of the meta since the Death Knights, or possibly even ever (depending on the new set).

posted a message on Hearthstone Monthly Subscription

I think a subscription model could work. But I don't think it should replace the current system, more like a supplement.

Let's say they make it an anual subscription. Most players who would be willing to commit for a whole year would probaly buy the pre-orders (at the very least) plus some of the special offers, like the wild bundle or  someting like that, somewhere in the $200 realm.

The jump to a $250 anual subscription including all special offers and pre-orders with maybe some added perks, card back, hero portrait, maybe a few classic packs, and I am sure some people would buy that. And it might be nice for Blizzard too to have steady, predictable money influx.

posted a message on v2.0 infinite taunt

It's a little tricky to pull off, but if you chain it right, having the vanguard die before you play Undatakah, then the Undatakah will gain vanguards death rattle. And since, thanks to prelate, it keeps its enchantments it will still re-summon itself. Just feels kind of weird to play vanguard knowing that it will whiff the first time.

Trust me, it does work, but unfortunately, not very often. Sporting a 50% win rate with this atm, but only few games played.

    95.44% complete

I'm missing 6 commons (the new classic ones), 75 epics, 7 legendaries, quite evenly spread over the sets (Classic 95.55%, UNG 93.93%, KFT 93.93%, K&C 96.36%, WW 97.75%, BD 96.36%, RR 94.74%).

Just for the record, which legendaries you got?
(my pitytrackers was 30+, so I do not bought)

you should keep in mind that you will get legendarys from TgT and GvG because when the 10 packs legendary rule came in, they were wild, so if you have not bought any of those sets since then than you will get legendaries.

some people say that it wont work for sets you have already bought from, but i know form experience that is not true.

That did not work for me. I did not buy any GvG or TGT packs after the change (even double checked in my purchase history)  and I got no legendaries from those sets.

Because it doesn't matter if you didn't bought packs after the rule. The rule apply only if you NEVER, EVER bought packs for an expansion. If you bought any packs before or after the rule, you will not get a guaranteed 10 packs legendary.

I doubt that. After the change rolled out a lot of people bought packs from old expansions and got a legendary within the first ten packs or less, independent of the previous pity timer count. I did so myself, buying WOG and MSG packs fromt the ingame shop at the time, and got a legendary in 10 packs or fewer.

A lot of people had similar experiences, though in typical Blizzard fashion there is no official clarification. I just dug up an old thread about this, and there is some inconsistencies between sets. But it appears that something has changed, 35 pages of people mostly being lucky seems to much to be a coincidence. posted a message on Heartstone - 40 Wild Packs Bundle

I had the complete opposite experience with the bundle.

Out of the forty packs I got one legendary, Nat, the Darkfisher, and nine epics, none of them golden. And that despite the fact that I didn't open any GvG or TGT packs after the change to the legendary drop rates. I also got 141 commons (six golden) and 49 rares (three golden).

All in all the packs ammounted to a total dust value of 3495.

To top things off, most of the epics weren't even good. Feign Death, Wee Spellstopper, Fel Reaver,Astral Communion, Embrace the Shadow, Cyclopian Horror, Blood of The Ancient One,Lotus Assassin and Lotus Illusionist.

I have never felt more instant regret after buying packs.

    Quote from Killthejohnboy >>

If you have never before opened a pack from a set you will get a legendary in the first 10

if you have opened 1 pack from any set ever this pack will count toward the 10

if you have opened a legendary in one of the sets  your timer is now the typical 40 or 50 whatever that number is

Does anyone know if the change to the 10 pack pity timer, which appeared to be retroactive for all expansions, independent of previous pack opening, is still in place?

Back when the change was rolled out I remember getting a legendary in the first ten packs for WOG, MSG, UNG. A lot of people did, and it appeared that any previous pity timer was just reset to 10, no matter what.

The ten packs of GvG and TGT were the first of the respective expansions I opened after the change, so the pity timer for both sets should have been 10. Yet, I did not get any legendaries.

Does anybody know for a fact that the pity timer reset was rerolled to only include the actual first 10 packs opened (packs opened before the change would count towards the 40 pack pity timer)?

posted a message on Question about the Wild Bundle (no legendary in first 10 packs)
    Quote from SuicidOr >>

That is exactly the issue. I was under the assumption that my pity trackers for GvG and TGT would be at 10, thus guaranteeing me at least two legendaries from the bundle. And I assumed that because of the changes made before the Frozen Throne launch which set the pity timer to ten for every expansion, and did so retroactively, independent of whether you had bought packs before or not.

I would not have bought it otherwise, this is why I'm asking.

That is interesting. I thought that with the change to the drop rate basically every expansion's pity timer is set to ten, and once you open a legendary it resets to the usual 40. Therefore it shouldn't matter if you ever opened one pack of a wild expansion after the change, all that should do is either give you a legendary or reduce your pity timer from 10 to 9. How and when you acquired the pack should not matter for the timer. Seems kind of odd to reset all expansions to 10 and then when you buy one pack set it back to 40 (or 39) or whatever.

But somehow, and from your experience too, that does not seem to be how this actually works. And I do wonder if that is intentional, and if the reset for all expansions was by mistake and has since been "fixed". No official announcements about this as far as I know.
