Why on earth does this have upvotes in a Meta with Quest Shaman and Pirate Warrior?

Do people really just upvote for THE IDEA?

What utter nonsense this deck is in this Meta

This is absolute nonsense - there hasn't been a control meta in five years and the game came heavy equipped with cards for quest Shaman and pirate warrior

Way too slow. I don't understand why this has upvotes at all

I obviously calculated your chance to draw a dragon without then lowering the number of dragons left which was dumb :-)

The deck has 8 dragons, two of them with dragon discovery mechanic. If you already hold 3 cards that means you have a 8/27 chance of drawing another dragon. That's every three turns. After 6 draws you're down to 8/22 and your chances of NOT drawing a dragon was 8/27*8/26*8/25*8/24*8/23*8/22 = 0.0000000375 or 1 in 33,000,000

Sorry buddy but that's literally winning the lottery in reverse and no indicator for this being a bad deck

    Next time play the lottery.

I think the three upvotes you got for this speak volumes. I mean I just wrote exactly what I thought and you still manage to misinterpret what I wrote.

So again: It's not that I think Thijs came up with it I re-iterated the progression of upvoted decks on this site.

We already established that with the current set of Priest cards in Standard this is what you'll eventually end up with anyway in a Standard deck. There's nothing novel about it. But what does happen is this: Thijs has it on stream. Someone posts it on here. That's the first time that deck ends up here. No hints, tipps, anything. People who didn't see the stream are left empty and learn nothing. They would need to watch the stream. 200 upvotes. Front page. A couple days later - same deck - a couple of lines of explanation - 300 upvotes. And another handfull days later: two or three card changes, replies to all questions. Then a video. a couple hundred more upvotes yet.

It's not a criticism it's more the understanding that HearthPwn regurgitates similar decks in rapid succession and that you'd want some kind of quality control or something or a label you can filter. Like say "Only show decks where the author worked their ass off in the comments" or "Only decks that contain a mulligan guide".

And that's the other thing - the amount of decks posted where the author goes "xx upvotes and I'll post a mulligan guide". THAT is what rubs me the wrong way. I don't really care that the decks aren't "novel".

Absolutely agree... I think my point was more that this is a delayed stream. Thijs plays on his stream and explains his thinking, someone throws it on here without doing that extra work (no explanatory text) - naturally it gets about 200 upvotes because it's Thijs. Then someone takes it and gives a little guide basically writing down what was said on stream - that gets about 1.5x what the first deck got - and then the deck gets taken, changed a bit, and A LOT of work on the guide, the author replies to questions and we end up here - and of course it lands you on the front page because that is basically the "HOT" search filter automatically thrown on there. And then someone takes the decklist and makes a YouTube video of it. Because that's what's usually missing.

I mean of course you're right Standard is limiting what you can do but if you just visit the "Decks" page and expand the search to "Top - Week" you end up with a bunch of similar decks that all play the same, all with one week delay to what Thijs played.

It's not a critique per se to any of the authors it's more that I'm fascinated how downstream from the streamers a cottage industry of people is popping up benefiting from them :-) It's like watching a documentary on how the sausage is made ;-)

It's kind of weird what's going on here. Thijs makes a deck and plays it on stream. Someone puts it on Hearthpwn. It gets 190+ upvotes. Someone copies it and makes two card changes. It gets 300 upvotes. And then we end up here with the 2nd copy of the same flavor Priest, made three days later.

Then again it's basically just all new Priest cards from the last Adventure that are usuable thrown in.

I honestly don't get it why this works.

I get these arguments but then I don't understand why you'd run Toshley. He's usually put into mage decks to get another 1 mana card for Antonidas to turn into a fireball... and his replacement (Justicar) is just nonsense in that context. What's 1 more damage going to do in the late game?

More card-draw would be a good idea but what card is going to fill that 6 mana spot? Wouldn't it be better to drop Emperor there to maybe make Rafaam cheaper and later on the relic you get from him? Or, again - more card-draw...

That's why I don't get why you don't include Darnassus Aspirant. You get two Mana Crystals when you play them with Brann on the board and only lose one when they die...

Oh this deck isn't holding me back don't worry - I wouldn't waste any dust on Dreadscale to begin with.

Anyway glad it's working out for you - how about you install a deck tracker and after January 1st you track your results and post them. I kinda sorta don't really believe you went from 9 to 5 with this deck but give you the benefit of a doubt.

Congrats on having a BA in media - but honestly have you even played your own deck?

It's ridiculous in the current meta. How do you even control the board? You have SIX spells and two Pyromancers - the Pyro lives for 2 spells at most then it's gone. If you don't draw at least TWO of the six spells you get clobbered instantly by everything other classes throw at you. The only way you survive the first five rounds is if a control warrior doesn't draw any weapons or if you play against Handlock and even then in turn 3 you only don't get board cleared if they don't draw any Darkbombs

This is one of those decks that are awesome when you make it to the late game but you just won't.
