The first thing I did this expansion was craft Mecha'thun.
I'm having a blast, but the nature of the card is that it only supports one very specific type of deck and type of play. Even if the combo-control "stay alive until I otk you" kinda deck looks neat, if it's not really your favorite playstyle you will get very bored very fast.
If you want to climb, Taunt Druid is not the deck for you. It's play/win rate has evaporated with the resurgence of pure Control Warlock. 3 Hadronoxes still loses to two defiles, two hellfires, two twisting nethers, two siphon souls, lord godfrey, a 3 damage lifesteal hero power and 4 voidlords.
Baku is a great option because it is versatile. Baku Paladin and Baku Rogue are both really strong. That being said both are definitely worse than Even Paladin right now.
Do you have a lot of the necessary Paladin cards? If you already have Tarim, Call to Arms and all that good stuff, Even Paladin is the way to go.
If not, Baku Paladin is a cheap, really great deck.
Serious question, what if they're going for some super thematic "lone hunter" kinda archetype?
Because you're not running minions, it feels like it's just you, your traps (secrets), your weapons (the bows and the spells) and your animal companions.
It would need a ton more support to ever be viable, but I think it could be a really cool thing. That doesn't excuse this card for being so bad, but still, it could be the start of a cool idea.
Trust me, Murloc Paladin is still extremely viable. I've taken it to Rank 5 with relative ease every season post-nerf. It's definitely legend capable, I just didn't have the time.
Murloc Pally variant with 2 Consecration to improve the zoo and kelerogue matchups and 1 Truesilver Champion for a little extra finishing damage to climb initially. It usually climbs me up to 10 pretty fast, got me to 5 at around the halfway point.
College has got me down with so much work, so I never have time to push for legend. But Murloc Pally should definitely be able to do it.
Question though, when you say "Easy Rank 5," how easy are you talking? I'm a pretty experienced Midrange Hunter Player, it was my main ladder deck all the way up until the Ungoro meta. I'm at rank 6 right now, with Midrange Murloc Paladin. Would I have a better shot switching to this deck?

Short on dust, what can I replace Mecha'thun with?

Absolutely busted.
If you dark pact this you can get a Malygos out for only 9 mana.

I used the middle decklist. If you wanted to climb to legend, swapping 2 Coldlight Oracles for 2 Golakka Crawlers is a must.

The answer to all of your questions is an emphatic "Y E S"

Maybe OP thought if you get Divine Shield off of Gentle Megasaur?

I just beat a tempo rogue who got Keleseth-Double shadowstep with this deck.
That should tell you everything you need to know about how good it is.
I love you OP.

If you don't have Keleseth, add 2 Grimestreet Outfitters because they were the casualty of adding that prince.
No Wickerflame means you're not going to want to be running the two corpsetakers.
Tarim is one of a kind, he can push face damage, or act as a board clear depending on when you drop him.
Tl; dr: It's possible, but there's some serious deck editing that needs to be done.

Great deck write up man! Thanks for it.
