As funny as this debacle is, I can't entirely fault the userbase for the mistake. Myself, I accidentally bought 3 Classic packs with gold (so no harm done). The issue is I bought a GvG pack earlier and assumed it would default to it, but it doesn't. It stays on the Classic packs, so you need to make sure you select GvG every time you go in the shop.
It's a small detail Blizz may have overlooked (or not. More money for them?), but it's an important one, imo. You can do dumb stuff when you're excited and a simple fix would prevent this kind of stuff in the future.
Iron Jug is just solid in so many ways and you have Shieldmaidens to carry the Mine to term. Then you have the Siege Engines which I think are really flying under the radar right now. If you have an Armorsmith with a couple minions out, the SEs can snowball like nothing. I easily got one up to 12 atk before he got taken out. Huge value.
For the early game, I included the Warbots, which synergize incredibly with Cruel Tasks. 4/2 by turn 2 is just strong. I also included a Screwjank in my deck to buff the mechs even further.
Games are faster now that I've incorporated these cards, and my CW's tempo is very definitely better. I feel like I'm more in control than before when you had to wait until the late game before getting traction.
I've fought enough Arenas to know how difficult Mages can be to beat. They are annoying and a well-timed Flamestrike can turn the table in an instant.
Despite this, my record with the class is only average at best. I try to pick the staples (frostbolt, fireball, etc.) as much as possible while keeping a good curve. Nevertheless, I am very inconsistent and average 2.5 wins per Arena. I prefer playing either Rogue or Paladin as these are more stable and net me about 3.5 wins per Arena.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a "right" way to play the class, build a deck and ensure long win-streaks?
Went 1-3 with a Mage. I don't think I had bad draws or played badly, my opponents just had better stuff it seemed.
I definitely think the Mage won't be as good as it used to be. It's harder to draft those AoE cards, so the other classes are more evenly-footed this time around. It's going to be an interesting time.
I think it's too early to tell as there's going to be some as-yet undiscovered synergies. What is seen as the worst class now could be the best in a couple week's time.
But as first impressions go, I think Warrior and Mage benefitted most.
I never said that paying an entry fee = gambling. That one's a technicality and will be classified as gambling in some areas. Most places won't do this.
Now, if you wager money on the outcome of a game, that would be equivalent to gambling. I don't know what MTG online does, but if you can put down money before sitting at a "table", which will be won or lost based on whether a game is won or lost, then that is gambling.
Totally loving this card myself. I would immediately switch out Cairne if I could.
On turn 7 this is a great Shield Slam setup and it's just plain better against aggro and for general sustain. It can turn tempo in your favour very quickly.
I don't know if I'd take out Black Knight since he's good against big taunts, but running at least one Shieldmaiden is too good to ignore.
Idk if KT would work but maybe a giants/miracle could work. I'm sure a list has been already thought of for that. But yea Malygos miracle is a really underrated deck just not many know how to play it right
I've swarmed the board enough times that KT would be a consideration for me.
------------
@flexr: Malygos is definitely more inclined towards tempo than pure miracle, yes. That doesn't mean you need to sacrifice the miracle aspect.
For example, you don't need to run shadowsteps or conceals any more and you can switch these to minions instead. Replace the 'steps with Anubars and the conceal with, say, a loot hoarder and your board presence will be stronger while not sacrificing card draw.
It seriously does work if you make the right deck. Give it a shot.
The idea is to deal good damage early with your minions while saving at least one Prep, SS, and Evis. When you drop him you then deal minimum 17dmg.
Seriously, the goal here isn't to have Maly win you the game on his own, but rather to finish it for you while you build a board with your minions. So you don't care at all for Loatheb because they'd need to drop him the turn before you play Maly.
I'm personally considering making a more control-style Rogue with Maly which would include cards like Rag or maybe Kel Thuzad just to buff up the minion aspect of the deck.
2x Brawl is good vs. aggro, minion-heavy decks, and the Shaman matchup. I have lost count of the number of times a 2nd Brawl would have won me the game going vs. Shaman.

God, I LOVE these new cards.

Thanks for the advice. I do tend to keep small spells in hand off the bat like frostbolt to clear early minions.
I think Mage is definitely powerful, but is not as braindead as you'd think. Deck-making is very important to get you far.

Buy Naxx with real money and spend gold on GvG packs/Arena runs. It's the best value if you want to quickly acquire your cards.

For it to be gambling, money would have to be bet on each game. There's no gambling involved in purchasing a product such as a pack of cards.

In your case:
Mage > Druid > Hunter
Generally, anyway. Depends on your draws.

Not a boring card at all!

Gold Cairne. I was pretty happy.

Guys, Malygos works perfectly fine.
