If only Azsharan Sweeper and this had their costs reversed that would be a great on curve play.

AndreiRO posted a message on Even freebies can't make me play mercenariesPosted in: General Discussion@Talenelat I don't understand the hate either. Since they added the training grounds, I like dropping 2 mercenaries there and collect the xp the next day. I'm just playing the mode to complete the offered tasks. After that I guess it's boring but so it's Hearthstone when you don't have any quests to do.

RendInFriend posted a message on Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini Set: Onyxia's Lair - Launches February 15th - All Cards Revealed!Posted in: NewsBlizz just got bought for $70B and this is the best they can afford for a reveal? Sway bae isn’t doing a bad job, there’s just no production value. It’s a twitch streamer in a white hood with a blue circle light as Prestor and it just reeks of home made cheap TikTok production. Throw her a few grand for some lighting, cameras, props and editing for Ragnaros’ sake.

FortyDust posted a message on Want to get back into hearthstonePosted in: General DiscussionHonestly, I'd hold off on any major purchases until after rotation (late March or early April). We will get a new Core set then, and three entire expansions will disappear. Every archetype that exists right now could easily become a meme. HOWEVER, you definitely want to buy the mini-set when it appears in the next few weeks. Those are always the best bang for your Hearthstone buck.
Until then, you can earn gold by completing your quests in Duels and Arena (and to a lesser extent, Mercenaries and Battlegrounds). Arena will cost you if you aren't a strong player, so Casual Duels is probably your best bet for completing quests. If you "git good," you can start playing Ranked Duels and earn gold on top of the quest completion.
Also, maybe get the Rewards Pass so you can get the accelerated XP -- but this might not be worthwhile if you don't play enough. Get it if you like the portraits, I guess?
If you absolutely must buy cards before rotation, stick to Barrens, Stormwind and Alterac ONLY. Unless you're a big Wild player, you won't get much use out of the older stuff before it's gone.

Banur posted a message on Want to get back into hearthstonePosted in: General DiscussionThe traditional hearthstone mode has four modes: standard, wild, classic and casual.
Standard is a restricted mode with only the past two years worth of expansions allowed plus the current selection in the core set.
Wild allows all cards (minus two banned warlock cards).
Classic allows only cards from the original set and uses their versions from launch, regardless of future changes.
Legend can be reached in all of these.
Casual is unranked, but smart. In the sense that it will queue you into the right mode depending on your selected deck.
The Core set is a new addition that temporarily grants a base stock of cards to all players (replacing the basic and classic cards). The selection changes every year and can contain cards from all expansions not just basic and classic. Cards are unlocked by leveling classes to 10 (do that for DH).
Arena has a different selection of expansions, that changes every so often. Search around for what is currently included.
BGs don't require cards, so try that.
Mercs just came out and while you can spend money, there are a few free packs available. So try that as well.
Adventures are not important anymore for the most part. Some cards are used in wild though.
Quest can be completed in most PVP modes (even BGs, do your X of tribe there).
The Tavern pass is optional for the reward track and grants more experience from quests (they no longer yield gold, it solely comes from the reward track) and some cosmetics.
Expansions contain a legendary within the first 10 packs and we have duplicate protection. Which means that you won't see more copies of a card until you have collected every card (of that expansion) of the same rarity. (Dusting counts as having had a card.)
They have also introduced a mini set that releases halfway through the expansion, costing 2000g or money.
For competitive decks check hsreplay or vicioussyndicate.
As a returning player you should also be able to pick a starter deck that is somewhat viable.
Play around with that, see if you can grind out some gold (2k) and grab the mini set in a couple of weeks and save your money for the bundles of the next expansion. That will start the next HS year, rotating the oldest sets and changing the core set. -

TheDoctor0824 posted a message on Coming back from hearthstone after long hiatusPosted in: General DiscussionMy personal favorite deck currently is Bomb Warrior. It's around Tier 2 and is a fun deck to play with some skill testing elements to it. It's also not crazy expensive to craft

Thank goodness modern day blizzard listens to players and nerfs things moderately fast, old blizzard wouldn't nerf things for 6 months back in the day

Switcheroo is causing problems in wild, but in standard it's actually not that good the deck is super low winrate and gimmicky in standard but funny. Is there a precedent of cards being nerfed in wild but not standard?
Also I am referring to the cheese combos with switcheroo not the fact that many priest deck just use it to draw 2

A glorious day for humanity when quest hunter feels bad now if only quest warrior felt bad too world peace could be achieved

Good list of potentially problematic cards, but I don't really agree with some of them but could see the arguments for them. I do agree with Mr. Smite, Kazakuzan, and wildpaw caverns though.
But you missed the biggest offenders: Snowfall Guardian combined with the parrot battlecry. It will get even worse next year with Zola the Gorgon coming back to standard. Having your board frozen for 4 turns while getting super huge bodies is already stupid and not fun to play against but soon it will be 5 turns with the overall power level much lower. Shaman is going to be S-tier after rotation and going to need a nerf to parrot or snowfall guardian mark my words

You should try having some card game variance I play Legends of RuneTerra, Magic the Gathering Arena, and Hearthstone. I just do my daily quests in all of them every day and don't pay money in any of them and I have a lot of fun and once I get bored of one I just switch to another.

Buy Forged in the Barrens, United in Stormwind, and Fractured in Alterac Valley packs they will stay in standard for another year, try to collect all the commons from each one, then all the rares. I would start with United in Stormwind since those cards power level are the highest, then Alterac Valley because it has the best legendaries, then barrens

I don't know what game you are playing because the one I am playing is called druidstone

Never really tried Mercenaries much but from what little I played it seems like it could be a fun mode why so many people hate it?

It's okay Guff still wants to be your friend he knows you are crying out for help and your unjust flimsy attempts at hurting his character are just a desperate cry for help and he forgives you

Man some cardbacks are so cool and others are just boring
