StCecil posted a message on Enjoying Hearthstone again for a simple reasonPosted in: General DiscussionOkay, where to start. First off, around 2-3 months ago, I stopped enjoying Hearthstone. Like many of us, I am kinda invested in it, just in an overall sense. A little money spent, a lotta time spent and slightly addicted. Nonetheless, all I was able to do was bring myself to grind the dailies and log right out (cause hey, free gold why not?). Before that, I used to get upset if I didn’t at least get rank 5 for the epic.
After Elder Scrolls Legends, Eternal, and some other card games came out to play around with, it was a lot easier to not play Hearthstone… BUT… although I enjoyed elements of these other games more than Hearthstone (and still do, but that’s another topic), I always liked Hearthstone “deep down” you could say.
The thing that helped me enjoy the game again was not playing to rank up – well, I made sure to hit at least 15 which hardly counts as ranking, just to get a golden rare. I didn’t even go past rank 10, I just stopped ranking there. I found when I did this, I got less frustrated about loses, experimented more with “slightly out of meta” cards, and just had a better time playing. So, I suggest for anyone who is kind of in between frustration and fun to just say F**k it. Play for fun, rank up a bit to a least get better than the card back. You really will enjoy the game more.
After all, unless you are actually trying to grind for tournament points or trying to get viewers for a stream, rank is just a matter of a little dust. And pretty much a waste of time concerning your real life relationships, job, and studies.
On a slightly different topic, as far as Heroic Tavern Brawl… for some who get high wins, I am sure it will feel great. But, the price of the gamble is so high there is going to be MUCH more salt than smiles.
1000 gold takes possibly TWENTY days to grind assuming an average 50 gold quest and 3 wins while questing (usually the average is a bit more than that with Total Dominance and Play a Friend… but just to set an average for folk with limited time). Way too much to risk for me. I have 10,125 gold as of now and that is ALL going toward the next set.
On one positive note, I did hear Reynard talk about the Heroic Tavern Brawl and how it acts as “end game” for high level players… which is true. So, not totally knocking it, just saying, it is for a small minority of us… like 5-10% or so rough guesstimate.
For me however, it will be more fun opening 10 Expansion packs with 1000 gold than it will be winning older stuff!

Love that I just crafted Raza, played for 5 months and now I get the dust back. It was like a rent a card for this (mostly) F2P. Same with creepers cause I didn't get them in packs. I crafted patches too. Hope they're all nerfed to oblivion. Disciplined crafting of OP cards leaves me with a lot of dust.
