Pally and Hunter remain pretty solidly in 1st and 2nd on Hsreplay, and it seems like Hound Hunter is just a generally better deck (that also runs Star Power), mostly because of the broad reach of the Hollow Hounds and their mass-healing. Then again, I mostly play Wild, so what do I know. :-D

posted a message on Battle of the Bands is This Week's Tavern Brawl: Week 2

...With arms and shoulders like that (not to mention the stomach, which is sometimes visible during play)? I cant find a way to easily post a screenshot of what I'm seeing in game. (X) Doubt

Actually, a couple days ago I realized it's the artwork from Obsessive Fan, a card I forgot existed! So yeah, it didn't help that they leaned into the voice modulation they used for Magister Dawngrasp cards (and, funny enough, the voicework that randomly changed on Lyra the Sunshard because they modulated it so hard). These decisions are intentional.

Honest question... Are you playing as a guy or a girl through this Brawl? Between the art and the voice acting, I honestly can't tell.

The only time I played Classic mode was effectively to farm wins off bots for Warrior's golden portrait, when the class was dumpster-tier for almost the past year. It's not needed and can safely be replaced.

I think they should focus on current modes and fix all bugs first...

That doesn't bring them money and new modes does, for example: u need card from previous expansions so if you are new player you need to buy packs from older expansions and if u are old player maybe you dusted some so you need to recraft them again... Plus what's bad with new modes ? More stuff to do in HS more likely more people gonna play it.

Not sure about that, Classic mode was a bot only mode and im expecting Twist to fall off very quickly as well. People want a mode that makes them happy, one that makes sense. Thats what people want.

We'll see. There's been a number of comments from folks who are looking forward to this, as opposed to any other recent formats. Mercenaries, Battlegrounds, Duels, none of those were ever anything that appealed to me, whereas this one does. So I'd be careful with phrases like "thats what people want".

That's kinda the rub though, is in Wild you conceivably CAN play all the cards, but the meta is powercrept so hard that you are literally unable to without playing a specific meta deck, with very few shake-ups.

I totally welcome a different take on a structured format that allows me to utilize my backlog of cards without the typical Wild limitations of power.

Oooh! A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. A nice in-between mode for folks like me that prefer Wild (but still play Standard sometimes), but in a more directly controllable, malleable and dynamic form. Nothing bad to say about this news!

posted a message on Alura Murloc Paladin

Since there's no write-up, the goal is to get a Hydrologist or Coin for a cheap/free spell, draw into Alura, and yoink a Tip the Scale from the deck, filling the board with murlocs. This isn't really a "new" idea, but it can also be frustratingly inconsistent, as you are just buying time until turn 4+. Any reason to not get a couple Call to Arms just in case?

Yep, I'm totally onboard for a Swordfish card nerf. Less damage, one less durability, or the dredge bonus being tweaked, something. As it stands, that single (pair of) card doesn't just prop up the deck but makes it kind of obnoxious. Just a tiny nerf would bump it into line.

Mostly because I play Quest Hunter, and unironically enjoy it! :-) Although, to be fair, I VERY rarely ever run into any other folks playing that deck (in any form), to such a degree that it doesn't even show up on HSReplay's tracking for the Hunter class. And even playing that, I have to be lucky to get a Ricochet Shot & Urchin Spines to survive some aggro decks, so there are definite weaknesses present in that deck such that of the 4 decks I listed, only Secret Mage would be something I'd consider prey to Quest Hunter. The others you are in for a fight.

I'll take a Tony opponent over Pirate Rogue, Even Shaman, Mech Paladin and Secret Mage in Wild any day of the week.

I've been playing a lot of Quest Tony Demon Hunter in Wild, and I guess the same could be said of that deck, but I legit like it. There's some creativity in the plays you have available (am I going to dig for more card draw to get discount, hit them with a mana burn to hold them a turn, or hold these things for a turn to super-charge my weapon more, and then drop Tony and chew through their deck?), and it's far from braindead. So I hope they don't get rid of Tony because of some other degenerate decks.

Tony druid definitely doesn’t need Animation cheat. Even priest doesn’t need it.
multiple content creators did it live on stream

For consistency it helps a massive amount though. Looking at HSReplay, Wild's Quest Druid is a solid 79-61% win rate deck which plays normally. The highest win rate Tony deck is at 48.5%, most likely because of the animation cap when flying through your turn. You could say it's a piloting error, or it's just not the best deck, but I guarantee that if I had the knowledge that I could play a normally-impossibly-long turn by skipping animations, my win rate with that deck would be significantly higher. The fact it's sub-50% is evidence that it's held back by something that prevents it from being super reliable.

Why wouldn't it be possible ?

30 cards (actually more like 20-25, be honest), 90 seconds.

    3+ seconds per card.

Because of the animations. Some combos, especially if you watch content makers that do ridiculous OTK stuff like MarkMcKz, Roffle or even Dane, the BIGGEST limitation in any combo is the animation times (some are simply impossible because of a minion needing to do an animation for each card drawn, for example, and even clicking on the card doesn't speed it up).

As others have said, there are software hacks that disable the animations, so from the opponents side it seems like the rope was burning for 3+ minutes and they sit through that only to find out they are dead. It's a really poopy thing to have happen.

posted a message on Hearthstone feels like a big RNG fest

The card generation is one of the strengths of the game compared to a table-top card game where you are keeping track of tokens. It allows for things like classic Ysera who gives you one of a random assortment of dream cards, or Dr. Boom with his boombots. The problem really kicked in with the advent of the [Discover!] mechanic, and choosing random cards to introduce. The number of times they've had to tweak the rules related to that keyword is too high, and it's very rare for any card that has the [Discover!] keyword on it to not see play, because of the flexibility it gives.

But by God does it feel bad to play a game with a deck tracker, and when you are about to lose a match and you look and see 3/4 of their cards played have a little gift icon next to it, indicating it didn't even start in their deck. I'm fine with things discovering from things you've already played (like things in the graveyard, or cards in your deck), but just conjuring up win conditions through luck is miserable.
