posted a message on The worst part of playing HS
    Quote from TallAr92 >>

First of all, most of you can't even read properly. Secondly, you're trying so hard to defend this game where the only way of defending it is by saying "you're playing poorly" which (look at what I wrote at the start) is because you can't read properly and because it is a typical lazy answer on this forum, because every time someone doesn't enjoy every part of this game, then it is probably because he's playing poorly and not because HS become an autopilot game..

Most of you even tend to come up with some imaginary decks that you basically never meet! Here is a HS in a nutshell and don't try coming up with some homebrews which in your opinion can save you from frustration when playing this game. You will still have to face those high rolling full of random BS decks, and no matter what decks you choose, there will be still this "MY ONLY WAY TO WIN IS NOW PRAYING" kind of games.

Cyclone mage: I have to pray that my opponent doesn't have conjurers calling + giant (many decks don't have a straight answer). I have to pray my opponent got bad picks from cyclone. What is the ratio regarding your actions and plans having a meaningful outcome on whether you win or lose and doing whatever because Your opponent got perfect answers from cyclone? Or what's the difference  when all of sudden his board is full of giants despite him doing basically nothing for few turns and now you either lose all of your resources trying to clear them or just concede.

Warrior: PLEASE OH RNGGOD make his discovers not have zillax or devastator. Ohh please dear RNGOD. Please just not the worst brawl outcome.

I'm not trying to say that every matchup in this game feels shit. I am really trying to say that in my opinion, THE WORST PART OF PLAYING THIS GAME is that very often, there are those matchups where the game feels hopeless and this exact feeling is what leads to low interest in replayability. You just don't want to feel this way again and again.

I can't say I've ever felt hopeless or this level of frustration playing Hearthstone.  Some matches are lopsided, other times you will be far behind and your best option is to make a hail mary play.  You do what you can, and occasionally you can pull it off.  In the cases where you lost due to RNG as opposed to skill, your opponent is likely smart enough to understand that.  Losing a game shouldn't feel this devastating.

Elysiana is not a fun card. But I'm cool with these things you mention if they make the end game more fun than losing to fatigue.

posted a message on Nerfs are not the solution- Buffs are.

Good in theory, not good in practice.  You'd have to get the power levels of all the buffed cards just right as opposed to getting it right for one or two nerfed cards.  There are too many card interactions to be able to accurately predict power levels of cards to be buffed.  Hopefully these cards are buffed just enough to make them viable choices in the metagame.  I'm excited for these buffs, they should shake up the metagame quite a bit.  But nerfs are more effective for game balance.  Ultimately players want many viable paths to winning as opposed to few.  This is experimental on Blizzards part.  Should be interesting to see how it goes.

Every competitive player right know says the 10 mana elysiana is the way to go and 9 is ******** and i just aggree with that. Is just bad for a player to lose to a side deck because they play brewmaster againsts warriors only to have a 50/50 insta win

I suppose if you have some sort of side decking scenario then I could see that.  I was assuming ladder.

That's your call.  If you were running baleful banker and knew he'd be useful in the mirror match it would be reasonable.  But you'll only have a 50% chance of him being useful if  you que a mirror match.  That's too much dead card action for me.  You might win the mirror match in any case without the autowin condition.

Agree with conjurer's calling.  But the 9 or 10 mana for Elysiana won't make a difference as no one will run baleful banker and HOPE they get the coin.

posted a message on How often you swap Decks while climbing Ladder?

Early after a new expansion has been released I'll swap decks quite a bit because it's fun to play with different stuff.  Piloting different decks also helps you play better against them.  There's little harm in experimenting with different decks early in the month either since your high ranks are really hard to achieve early on.  As for swapping,  I play everything.  But I'd have a better rank if I focused on one deck.  I typically play one tier 1 deck at the end of the month just to grab a good rank.  Not much of a point in trying to rank up early in the month imo since you can actually make up for it really quickly later on once everyone else has ranked up and you are going up against less skilled opponents.

I also noticed you have a baited arrow.  Situational removal card.  Maybe swap that for a highmane or something to give some minion consistency.  You need at least a couple reliable mid sized minions for the mid game to drop on curve.  I try to get those on the board as soon as possible so they can start doing damage over the next few turns.  You won't have lost board control at this point with all the early game stuff.

It's  rare to see two deadly shots.  I usually see 0-1  You sure you want that?  It's a situational.  I'd cut one and put in another unleash the beast.  It's a fast card.

posted a message on At what Hearthstone rank can you be considered a "good" player?
    Quote from Bazza74 >>

I have finished top 300 legend a number of times and managed to get legend on 4 accounts in the same month and don't consider myself a good player. If you can finish top 100 consistently then you're a good player. If you hit legend regularly then you're certainly better than average but the indicator is more how quickly you hit legend. If you can get from rank 5 to legend with a good win rate especially within the first week of a new season then you are beating a lot of the better players out there and thus could consider yourself playing well

People that say it's just a grind to hit legend are probably hitting legend in the last week with a low 50's% win rate and that is not too difficult for a lot of players.

Good players don't consider hitting legend a grind as it doesn't take a lot of games or time to do it

Meanwhile some guy hits rank 18 and considers himself a good player.  Yet this guy probably is in the top 1% but apparently is still not a good player.
