Yup. I give up. Sorry but I can't compare myself to peasants from 100 years ago that died to a common cold to encourage myself that the world is beautiful now.

You're the optimistic guy. Ok great. You see that with 10 dollars from today you could have bought a house 100 years ago. I see that a guy above you said that he learns more from movies and games than from books. Talk about qed.

Btw that article is cute but in all it's cuteness forgets to mention that Rokefeller's fortune from those days would equal in todays money to a few trilion dollars. He would be the richest man alive by far today. But okay I get it. A dude with 5k dollars per month today is richer than the richest man that lived 100 years ago. Yay!!! We done good. But while he may be richer he can't own a palace, a few cars, a few companies, etc. 

I was only saying that except USA and Eu and a handful of countries like Japan, Australia, etc. the rest of the world is in a pretty shitty spot. Hunger, lack of water, lack of medical care, slavery, villages and whole cities without electricity or running water and many more issues that guess what? Are the same issues from 100 years ago.

So while you, me, the dude from earlier that educates himself from movies and games, and like 40% of the population is in the 21st century, in our own bubble, the other 60% still lives in the 20th century. 

I said that I give up. You see the good, I see the good too, but I also see the bad and for me the bad is more important. If 7 billion people today live a better life than Rockefeller did but 1 dude dies from hunger somewhere the world is not right.

You're the optimist. I'm the pessimist. We can't convince each other. So...have a good life. So will I btw.

Oh yes we all love our own little bubble! Where everything is perfect and only good news gets in. 

I live a good life. Yes. the future is wonderful, we all live in the tech revolution, everything is going to get better.

To all the offended about freedom of speech issues out there Syria says hi. Well the Syria that was 2 years ago now it's just rumble after an earthquake. Also Egypt a few years back or Yugoslavia a few more. Youngsters need to learn more history. Crimea anyone? And alooot more.

I'm not going to teach history here but the Hong Kong issue is a minor thing compared to the examples i gave earlier and other ones that happened in the last 20 years. 

There is a joke about a dude that is angry about nazism in 2019 and a friend tells him that it happened over 80 years ago but the dude answers that he just found out.

The world we live in is a shitty place to live. And will become even shittier. So buckle up. You're in for the ride of your life. 

Books gave smart people a way to speak. Facebook gave stupid people a way to speak.

No. This thread and others like it are the perfect example why non gaming discussions should be banned from gaming. Keep politics on facebook, twitter, go do an interview at a newspaper, go be an activist and protest on the streets but don't turn a gaming competition, a football match, a singing contest, etc. into a political debate.

This happens in churches too. There are articles about it. So the priests are in the Nazi party now if they don't allow the person to start a debate about politics in their church? 

FIFA bans politics from their press conferences. Players were fined for political messages after football matches. Man, there's a lot of Hitlers in the world today. 

And now we are a week later. Is Hong Kong free? Did twitch chat save Hong Kong? Of course not. Is Blizzard suppose to do something to free Hong Kong? Of course not. Are we talking about Hong Kong and what is happening there and about what should be done to save it? Of course not.

We are running in circles having philosophical debates about freedom of speech and Hitler on gaming forums, porn forums, movie forums, fashion forums because guess what people don't care and you're not going to make them care when they are disconnected from the real world and are trying to relax at a movie or at a shopping mall or at a gaming competition.
