posted a message on The Duelist Burndown is This Week's Tavern Brawl

This has to be the most imbalanced multiplayer content ever in this game! Other tavern brawls had turn 1 OTKs as well, but not a deck pulling it off this consistently! All you need is to go first and hard mulligan for that 2 extra damage.

I am obviously talking about Overload! + Wisdom 76 which can only lose to itself afaik.

posted a message on Legendary Tier List & Crafting Guide
    Quote from SirJohn13 >>

I took some time to review the full list of wild legendaries and their tiers, below is my feedback:

Dragonqueen Alextrasza sees niche play in a few Reno decks only (I can only think of greedy Renolock with the new N'Zoth) so she probably belongs to tier 2 or tier 3 rather than tier 1.

I've never seen Doctor Krastinov in wild, I don't think he deserves a place in tier 2, not even tier 3 probably.

Sathrovarr doesn't see play any more as Malygos Druids simply run the Celestial Alignment package. I guess he can go back to tier 4 or 5.

Big Shaman is non-existent and even there Colossus of the Moon was never a staple. Seems like a tier 3 or 4 legendary

Siamat is a good legendary that is not good enough to see play in any deck, should probably also be demoted to tier 3 or even 4. Same with Vessina

Catrina Muerte has also been cut from Big Priest since a long time, also deserves to be demoted to tier 3 or 4

Scargil sees no play in Murloc Shaman, should be tier 3 or 4.

Dr. Boom, Mad Genius only sees some niche play in Odd Warrior, should probably be tier 3.

Mecha'thun Warlock is not really seeing any play and the 'modern' list uses Vol'jin and a 0-mana token for the combo so Dollmaster Dorian is no longer a staple. I'd put him in tier 4.

Shaman is quite possibly the best class in wild right now with a large number of strong performing decks and they all run Shudderwock (even those that are not built around him). So perhaps he deserves a promotion to tier 1.

Aluneth is not even an afterthought for Secret Mages since Sayge was printed. I'd put it to tier 4.

Val'anyr is a niche card that sometimes makes the cut in Handbuff Paladin and nowhere else, probably deserves to be in tier 3.

Zola the Gorgon sees a ton of play in a ton of decks (Reno Mages, Renolock, Reno Shaman, Shudderwock Shaman as well as some off-meta decks like Quest Rogue and others), definitely deserves to be in tier 1.

Deathstalker Rexxar, Malfurion the Pestilent, The Lich King, Valeera the Hollow: all cool cards that see very little play today and not in any of the strong meta decks, should probably be in tier 3.

Hemet, Jungle Hunter, Open the Waygate, Sunkeeper Tarim: Mecha'thun Warlock is not really a viable deck these days and neither is quest mage (has been replaced by APM Mage) or Even/Dude Paladin, probably all 3 cards should be in tier 3.

Finja, the Flying Star: I don't think this card sees any play whatsoever, should be tier 4?

Sylvanas Windrunner: sees very little niche play in very few deathrattle hunter decks that are not even that good, probably tier 3?

Emperor Thaurissan: Isn't he barely more than a meme card for meme OTK decks these days? Maybe not 100%, but he doesn't really see competitive play. Tier 3 or 4 seem more appropriate

I'll continue with Tier 3,4 and 5 legendaries on a later post, but I'll mention already here a few cards that deserve and upgrade in my opinion:

Galakrond the Tempest: Galakrond Shaman might be the 2nd best deck in the format right now, so even tier 1 would be fair, but probably tier 2 as the deck is not really carried by Galakrond, but rather by elemental synergies and the Flurgl-Toxfin combo

Dreadscale is back to being a playable card (mostly in Reno Hunter, but also in some Beast Hunter decks) thanks to the 0-mana spell that gives him poisonous. Deserves an upgrade to tier 3.

Kingsbane: Kingsbane rogue is good enough that the weapon itself should be in tier 2

Kun the Forgotten King. Celestial Druid decks still run him even though Aviana has been cut (and they are doing quite well, especially Maly Druid). Should be in tier 2. For similar reasons, Twig of the World Tree could be worthy of tier 3.

Zentimo: Not a staple but sees quite some play in Galakrond Shaman decks (insane synergy with Invocation of Frost, Earthen Might and Serpentshrine Portal), deserves an upgrade to tier 3 or 2.

Thanks man! I have been AFK for a travel, I will get on it soon!

    Face hunter. End of story.

Yeah, that is a tough matchup, but it is far from unwinnable for DH. The trick is to not give them juicy Rhino targets and get your hands on some healing.

Edit: oh, shaman forum? Are the class forums still used? Elementals CAN win, but it is hard

posted a message on Hero Power Not Balanced
    Quote from AAZ >>

it's ok, that some classes have stronger heropowers it was intented by HS team since the start. They said they balance it by giving classes with stronger Hero-powers, weaker basic and class cards (Warlock is a good example - best HP, weak cards).

    This.

Also, there is a rotational balance of pure heropowers, mage>paladin>hunter>mage for example.

Anyway, trust me, it's not hard to come up with less predatory ways to offer your product to customers. But until players start to realize the rush of opening a legendary is not worth the price, I guess Blizzard won't have to bother.

Plenty of people enjoy that system and packs in general. I and everybody I know who plays games do, we often liken it to nostalgic memories, such as when we were kids and bought football stickers or Pokemom cards. Part of the fun is not knowing what you will get and working towards your next pack.

It's really patronising of you to come across like you're the person 'in the know' and until other people realise that you're right, they will continue being ignorant.

But it IS extremely ignorant to complain about the price of the game, then defend the very reason the game is expensive in the first place. Was Copernicus being "patronising" when he insisted that the Earth revolved around the sun?

I understand that some people enjoy opening packs, but I question whether that moment of enjoyment is worth the big-picture cost.

Players must either get over their childish nostalgia for opening packs or stop complaining about how expensive Hearthstone is.

The 2 things are not related IMO. You can enjoy opening packs not matter what they cost, and packs being expensive isn't that relevant for how much fun they are to open.

The loot crate model has been adopted to soooo many games now. That childish nostalgia happens to be the one of the main sources of income for the gaming industry, but that doesn't men the price of said crates should not be discussed.

posted a message on Send In The Murlocs! is This Week's Tavern Brawl

I think it is a fine brawl. There are some new murlocs, so it isn't exactly like before. It also hasn't been on that many times, 1-2 IIRC.

That everything depends on your luck the first 2-3 turns is another issue, but the games are quick and snowbally.

f2p is important without these people to slap around how will the people that dump money into this thing feel superior otherwise?

f2p u need to give them an ILLUSION of having a chance when they don't that's the best trick in these games.

LOL anyways i'm f2p LOL and mate i tell you what my lives don't matter i don't pay $$$ so my voice means nothing companies need to cater to the $$$$ that's not shilling that's just pure business sure can be better f2p experience could be improved but i ain't holding my breathe when corporations want the dollar dollar billz

A bit aggressive, but yes, FTP players are very important for the game: they are opponents and community members, often sinking many hours into the game. You never know when a dedicated FTPer will dump some change into the game either, but they need to stick around!

There are also many ways to be FTP but also competetive, you just can't have every deck available at all times.

posted a message on Switching decks during a ladder run

Yes. My feeling is that there are several "mini metas" at a given time or rank which are not caught on Hsreplay. A good meta call can be more important than knowing the deck very well.

The alternative is fine tuning the deck for what you are facing, which can also work.

posted a message on Why are there so few functioning top-tier control decks?
    Quote from eskimodavid >>

Control is more viable in wild imo with Reno and zephyr and zilliax and ways to bring them back

Really? Which ones? Raza priest isa an otk deck, and Big Priest is a "control" deck with both near infinite value and ability to summon 60-mana boards at once on turn 6. I guess Reno mage is control...??

All Wild aggro decks can kill before turn 6.

posted a message on Which cards would Classic need?
    Quote from Pizzacats >>

I think classic format could be interesting if it had rotating expansions/adventures to be included with it. Could even create metas which never existed, since it could make it so only one expansion is playable alongside classic, and most rotations had at least 2 from the previous year and 1 from the current year. Would be fun to see how different cards which never saw play have an impact on the meta that way because they are finally good enough to make the cut

My concerns about players getting tired of the format has come true. Even compared to Wild classic decks see very little play, and with the time to find a game increasing, the numbers might decline even more.

There is really nothing to lose by making some changes

The aggro and midrange decks are just better right now. Midrange decks with lots of strong deathrattles are control killers. But, there are dedicated control players who do well with their off-meta decks.
