posted a message on Speed/Blitz mode

Such mode doesn't favor aggro since aggro plays most cards per turn on average. It disfavors decks that rely on a lot of drawing.

The truth is HS doesn't evolved much through the years and a blitz mode would be a step to safe a dying game.

Let the people play 10 games instead of 1 and they'll have more fun resulting in more profits. Twitch viewers will also increase drastically (look at Chess).

Now that wins don't give extra reward, should we have a fast mode? Something in the range of 10-15 seconds per turn would be very cool, permanent Nozdormu effect.

There isn't a golden card, I just checked.

    You get 66 non-golden cards.

In any competitive Sport with turns, "dragging" yours as much as possible when you are behind in the game, gives you better EV as playing fast. There are numerous reasons for this and even the GOATs in Tennis for example "abuse" this practice.

    changing a deck

Maybe the global MMR takes into account the deck MMR too. It is possible each deck a player makes to have his own tracked MMR that influences the global account MMR.

posted a message on Why matchups FEEL rigged

What I've noticed since they launched the new ranking system is the win and lose streaks got bigger and more frequent. That's not due to HS being rigged, but due to how their match making works.

If you are a 9 star player for example climbing the ladder you would be first matched against other 9 star players, but if you constantly outplay that field you'll start being matched with 10 and 11 star players due to your MMR raising. And from this come the streaks.

Now, of course we don't know whether players that spend more real money on the game have more MMR tolerance on their account meaning avoiding the better players due to some safeguarding mechanism that's extremely easy to program.

What I mean by MMR tolerance is say I have 50k MMR rating (made up value just for purpose of explaining). Now, the better players start appearing at 40k MMR and while I go from 50k -> 30k there is a chance I get matched with players from 60k to 20k MMR and this chance changes depending on my current MMR.

Now, the rigging could be done for whale accounts and their chance of facing the better players to be smaller than that of your average player. This is speculation of course, but nevertheless until there isn't some public transparency in the form of open source or a third party organization supervising and evaluating their ranking mechanism, everything is possible.

Any change to the economy that helps min/maxers will hurt other players.

Yes, the moment they introduce quest pausing and more variance in quest XP in order min/maxers to gain as before, all other besides them would start gaining less and quit. That's a great logic. You need the Nobel prize in Economic Sciences for it.

no reason to care whether they win or lose under the new system

If the system can be tweaked so there aren't losing groups compared to before and this is not done, it only favors their short term goals. In the long term HS loses when some groups of players are treated in such way, but it seems they don't care since they plan to put HS in maintenance mode.

And that won't be the last time the economy rules change, so have fun with a dying game.

min/maxers are anything but a minority

Most players who value their real time are quest min/maxers. Not everyone is a nerd playing HS all day long.

I suggested years ago we need a way to pause quests so we min/max even more efficiently.

Now, besides the already existing groups of players we have the AFKers - those that play Toiletstone. The current system encourages toileting and aims to kill those F2P who min/max quests, because they actually have a real life outside the toilet.

Defending the current system makes you an idiot in my eyes.
