posted a message on What is your favorite deck in standard this expansion?

Handlock - it's got a relatively high skill cap that I definitely haven't attained yet, but man is it satisfying to play. The best thing about it is that no one really seems to be playing it on ladder, so there aren't many mirrors. Always a big plus for me.

When I tryharded at the end of the season, combo galakrond warrior was the most enjoyable and effective.

Mind control tech. I get that its the neutral board swing card, but man it feels infuriating when its part of a top tier meta deck and your main way of winning is developing a threatening/ resilient board. Sure it can be played around, but  when it hits the board it can often change the outcome of a game on its own. It was nasty when it was part of druid decks, and its equally nasty in Shaman (even though it isn't as widely used as before).

On the subject of Leeroy - I get the fatigue from seeing the card smacking you in the face every other game, but I'd be much happier if stonetusk boar finally becomes sausages.

posted a message on Are you still having fun with HS?

Over the course of the last year ive gone from consistently reaching/ pushing for legend into pretty much a filthy casual, being content with my rank 5 chest at the end of the season. Generally that means a couple of games a day, but ive taken extended breaks during shaman stone when even logging in was more than I could endure. I decided to log back in today after a week or so away and ill be honest the game feels close to being enjoyable again. The shaman nerfs seem to have been effective- whether that's because galakrond has been actually significantly weakened or the community has been irrationally scared off is up for debate, but ive faced a variety of decks and had pretty enjoyable games.

If there are further adjustments to a few problematic cards (nec apoth, maybe dragons pack and a few others) there is a solid foundation here that could lead to a good expansion overall.

Just to add that Varron2 makes some great points that I can identify with.

posted a message on How often you swap Decks while climbing Ladder?

Last season I played rogue pretty much exclusively to legend, and I'd definitely recommend sticking with an archetype that you both enjoy playing and is viable in the meta. Any time ive made a legend run its been with one class with a card or two teched in depending on what im facing most often. This season ive just been messing about with a variety of decks with shitty to mediocre amounts of success before playing rogue again in a week or so.

posted a message on Poll: Why the hate for Control decks?

I enjoy playing control decks that actively fight for the board and have a win condition beyond accumulating massive amounts of armor or depleting my opponent of its resources. Control Mind Blast Priest is probably my favorite deck of all time- sure there were some blow out games where I drew the nuts, but most of the time I had to carefully manage my resources and work out a way to actually finish my opponent off while  engaging with my opponent's board. Even with big spell mage you could win by overwhelming other control decks with late game threats, as opposed to grinding out to fatigue or renoing with Jaina. I know that many hated Jaina, but she was never an issue for me personally.  Both of these decks were easily countered, and the high level of power existing in the meta meant that they never felt oppressive or unbeatable. My issue is when armor gain, removal and resource generation/ uninteractable win condition are all present in the same deck- control/ otk druids and control warriors have always felt miserable to play against, at least for me. Yes they can and could be countered, but it rarely feels fun for me.

posted a message on Players who bluff hoping you will concede.

I've played leeroy on a few of occasions representing lethal with a shadowstep without having one, instead targeting him with a backstab and my opponents conceded. I've done similar things with a variety of classes, and even if it works 1 out of 100 times, why not try it? What's wrong with playing to your outs, even if it looks pretty dumb and rarely works? I wont push it to the rope, but ill let my opponent sweat for a few seconds before conceding. Snap tilt concedes definitely happen- I should know, ive done them myself.

posted a message on Rise of Shadows Card Nerfs - What Do Pros Want To See Smacked?

A mana adjustment to prep or a change to it's mana reduction on play would indirectly nerf Edwin, given that it's when he's played early that is the biggest issue (turn 2 on coin 8/8 is rare, but it happens. Prep raiding party Eddy on 3 is more frequent). A raiding party, pick or evil miscreant adjustment seems much more appropriate.  Like many others, I'd hate to see the classic and basic sets be further diluted in quality. I'm all for a Mad Genius and/or Elysiana nerf as well.

The prospect of control warrior mirrors is the main reason why I wont touch the deck. You are welcome to each other.

posted a message on Have you experience this legendary rate from packs ?
    Quote from Warnerve75 >>

5 in 146 packs you should have had 7 or 8. I opened 347 packs and got every single one plus a gold. I consistently get 1 in every 15-20 packs since closed beta. My best average was 1 in every 11.3 packs doe witchwood. Where I was opening duplicate legendaries in 300 20 packs and got 2 Golden’s. Don’t buy any card packs. Nobody gaf dude. It’s math.

Ive opened about 200 packs in total this expansion and missed out on only 5 legendaries. Makes up for the shitshow that was my rumble pack opening experience. Variance is real.

posted a message on ME STILL GO FACE

Ive played control pretty much exclusively for the last year, but have been trying various SMOrc decks in order to try to counter the bomb menace, and just for a change of pace in general. No defile/ psychic scream/ dragons fury/ duskbreaker etc makes playing traditional curve decks more attractive to me than they've been for some time. Gotta say, there is something unbelievably satisfying about bloodlusting my warrior opponent with a bunch of shitty murlocs when he has just put 4 bombs into my deck.

posted a message on RoS - Way Too Early First Impressions

The rushing boombots are already diluting a lot of the fun for me. Its difficult to have fun and experiment when you are confronted with a class that has the best removal and synergies right now along with a fairly consistent win condition. Its nice to see warrior move away from stall and tank up, but it's not pleasant to play against. Moaning on day 1 btw lol etc.

Double firefly on turn 2 is rarely a bad play for most aggressive/ tempo decks, so this actually looks pretty promising depending on the meta. The heal synergies are nice as well. Not bad.
