posted a message on SHAMAN IS BEYOND GARBAGE RIGHT NOW, TY BLIZZ

Seems like the best devs left team 5 and they only have tier 3 or lower devs left. We're starting to see the fruits. Probably will only get worse. The severe imbalance in card draw between classes is the most glaring example of their lack of understanding. They just think rogue and DH should have card draw because "that's their identity". Meanwhile the "identities" of several other classes are a lot less powerful. Seems like they were unwilling to keep paying the good devs and now they've just got a bunch of millenials with "cool ideas" but no experience, no savvy, and little understanding of how to make a balanced card game. Blizzard's greed is running Hearthstone into the ground.

Haven't played yet but the situation with Rogue is not surprising. Rogue already had insane cards and they got more insane cards. Really super imbalanced. The card draw is off the charts. The amount of draw they give to Rogue while giving basically none to Priest and other classes also having very little....it's really strange. Draw is the most powerful mechanic by far and rogue had tons of synergy with it. I finally didn't pre-order this time so at least I can be more detached about the shitshow.

Control players aren't brats. We just want to be able to play control decks. We don't mind there being decks that beat us. We just hate decks that we have zero chance against. I guess this isn't the first one of those though. Mecathun was one if I recall. Combo in general. I've been around a while and see it all. Losing to Mecathun, Malygos, etc. felt bad but this feels worse. Just sayin. Feels bad.

Wow. Nice meta perspective. I guess that could be a slight silver lining. I mean I guess it's better that they try new things they think could be interesting and see how they play and how they're received. Better that they tried this than be too timid. I just hope they don't try this shit again.

The classic complaint about mill, it's "unfun".
Which can be true, burning your win condition can be frustrating. But if you only got one win condition then maybe your deck needs a tweek.
Similaly to the effect of Tickatus, if you play against aggro then the game might be fast enough that you might not even be able to draw your win con. Or maybe it is on the bottom of the deck. The difference is that you get to see your card being burned in this case. To conclude, you are just being whiny.

I think it's a bit more than a whiny gripe to be upset about facing the everyday prospect of 15 cards being milled from my deck and then my opponent filling his with primes. The answer to this is "Duh. Just don't play control decks that are susceptible to this." Well those exact decks are by far my favorite decks and actually make up a lot of what Hearthstone is to me. To conclude, f*&# off.

No. Other non-Warlock control players don't share your views.

Glad to hear you know what everyone thinks. But clearly you think you know everything. You're in for a let down.

I can say this at least...and I know how it sounds but it's true. This is the first expansion I'm not preordering since Witchwood. Now that's mostly because I have a lot of gold and dust saved up and need to spend them. But it's still hard to resist and I just now almost preordered anyway. It was the thought of Tickatus that stopped me. I've already started playing less because of that card (and, yes, Rustwyx and the synergy between the two) and I don't know how much I'll end up seeing it or something else that makes playing the game suck for me.

I'm a control player through and through. As long as there's a deck like that that's fairly prevalent in the meta--one that cancels control decks--playing Hearthstone becomes a lot more stressful and a lot less enjoyable. I'm sure other (non-Warlock) control players feel the same way. (As a side note: unbelievable fail to print that card at the same time as C'thun.)

I didn't say it broke the meta. It wins enough to see enough play to cause a ton of feels-terrible game experience. It victimizes control decks. It loses to aggro and heavily disrupts control, thereby scewing the meta to some extent (even more) against control and towards aggro. It's a cancer. Like you.

This is why I don't really get the point of 'I'm stopping' or 'I'm back' posts. I don't want to sound harsh, I'm glad the expansion has given you fresh excitement for the game but does everyone need to know everytime?

As an ongoing game, almost everyone will break from the game at some point. Sometimes for brief periods, sometimes for long periods, sometimes forever.

Not sure why telling people you'll never know or meet what your current status is though is something some people feel the need to do. Seen it in other games, it's not a dig at you.

Just play or don't play the game as you see fit, maybe let anybody that you might play with regularly know that you're having a break but other than that, just do as you please.

Nothing new to anyone here but just adding my voice to it. Like it's so unfun that I want to play Hearthstone substantially less because I run into Tick Warlock a fair amount of the time. It's like the exact COMPLETE opposite of what control players want: a control card that nerfs all other control decks and pushes the meta towards more aggro decks. I don't understand how they didn't see how damaging this card is and how hated it would be. I hope all Warlock decks will be complete trash until the next rotation just to ensure we see as little of this card and all the deck burning BS until they rotate. EPIC FAIL from Team 5.

    Quote from sanchogrande >>

When I was a new player, I loved Arena because I could draft and play cards I wasn't able to play in Standard. Duels could have been a great way to get gold from new players if they had just made all cards available in the ranked mode. Especially at the start of an expansion, people would buy tickets to make their theorycraft decks that they can't make in standard. And playing those cards in Duels would make people want to get those cards in standard.

To do what you're suggesting Duels would have to remove casual mode. Having to buy a ticket for access would kill it. It's way too highrolly and RNG dependant for people to be willing to play it if that's the only way. Once you've gotten the hang of it in Casual sure, give Heroic a try.

Having said that, getting to just two or three wins will get you your money back, but only if you actually wanted to buy a pack. InHeroic Duels or Arena you'll always get that 100 gold value. Two or three wins gets you about the remaining 50 gold value from what you payed.

To really enjoy battlegrounds you have to pay for perks every expansion. With Duels you can opt out of the paid arena so if they made it like a dungeon run where you don't even rely on your collection then they're just giving us completely free stuff. Blizzard isn't a charity organization. Making it use the collection we already have and not paywalling it in any added way is actually quite generous of Blizzard. They basically just handed us a completely different way to play Hearthstone for free! If you already have a ton of cards (like me) then you've already payed into it. If you don't then crafting a few old cards (for starting deck) and buying some packs in the new expansion (for hero powers) is the price you pay for access to the mode. It's a very small price considering you get to use those cards in constructed.

I take issue with people who avoid Duels on principle. You're not entitled to free stuff. If you really just want to play one or two decks F2P in one class that's fine. You haven't payed to build a collection so Duels requires a bit more investment from you. Doesn't mean it's not worth it! You can play just one deck and one class in Duels too! You can do the exact same F2P thing you do in constructed in Duels! It will require a bit of crafting just like F2P constructed.

And keep in mind: if you only want to play one or two classes/ one or two decks in Duels you totally can! If your class doesn't come up in the initial choice of four just throw random cards in a deck and then immediately retire it once the match starts. Do that once or twice until your hero comes up.

Yeah it’s really strange having both a collection requirement and a payment requirement (Tavern Pass).

As for the game mode itself, netdecking + extra RNG just doesn’t appeal to me. If decks were build from random card pools I would probably play it from time to time, but having to understand and learn another meta is too much work for the reward of more overpowered randomness.

What payment requirement? There is no payment requirement. Casual is free. "Heroic" costs gold and has similar rewards to arena. I've played a ton of Duels and not played Heroic once.

The thing for me is, that if I wanted to play wild, I can build 1 deck and play it until I like it. If I want to play standard, the same. And you can build competitive deck for 1200 (spell damage mage) 2k (token druid) or 10k dust.

For duels, I need to have collection of what, 6-7 classes to be guaranteed I can actually build competitive deck? And it rotates every 4  months? And I have to go through conditions (have some cards to get treasure/hero power). It just doesnt make sense for me.

If you enjoy it and you have collection/dust, just play it. Nobody will blame you.

For me to play duels, they would have to make it "fair" - either:

    1. Make it like arena (so I have a chance without wild cards)
    2. Make standard version (so I dont need wild cards)
    3. Make the current rotation accessible (i.e. you pay 150 gold and you get to chose from all cards for the format).

But the current system just doesnt work for me and until it is changed, I will not play it, because I feel the mode is "unfair".

OMG.....GET THE MEMO PLEASE. You barely need any wild cards at all to make your starter deck in Duels. Look at these starter decks:

    https://outof.cards/hearthstone/2743-12-win-duels-decks-for-the-end-of-year-of-the-phoenix

There are only a few wild cards in any of these and they're almost all commons. One or two rares. No epics. No legendaries. And only one copy of each. You can't craft ONE Haunted Creeper so you can try Deathrattle Hunter in Duels? That's "unfair"?

If there was a standard and wild version of duels, it’d be fine. I only play standard, and although duels is still playable with standard cards, it’s not much fun playing against players using wild cards, and the mode isn’t enjoyable enough for me to spend dust crafting wild cards. It’s essentially another mode of game play for wild players, and that’s fine, there’s enough in hearthstone to go around. So personally I stick with standard ranked, arena, and battlegrounds (even though I don’t have bg perks, even so, I might sign up for those in the future, I enjoy bg enough it’d probably be worth it to me). Just my .02.

If you look at suggested starting decks for Duels on this site or Outofcards you'll see that there are very few wild cards in any of them, and no wild legendaries IIRC. You don't need wild cards to play Duels.
