The best Counter options for stranglethorn are deadly shot in Hunter or Equality Combo in Paladin. Dragon paladin still getting a 2 and a 3 drop could verry well push it into viability. Or maybe there will be a Hybrid with Murlocs for winning condition.

At least on paper it looks like Paladin > beast druid.

If those can push Warrior, hunter out of tier 1 is another question but Paladin was always good vs  Warrior so there is definetely a chance.

What's the 2 drop for Dragon Pala?
EDIT: nm, Netherspite, I hope that does work out

comparing a 5/5 for 5 summon a 5/5 to a 1/1 for 1 summon a 1/1.. No. I understand you are a bit salty that zoo gets good trades on some of your minions but Possesed villager is such a simple and good card. I'm assuming you want to bump it to 2 mana but why do that when we have the Hunter card that just got released which is a 1/1 summon a 3/2.  Don't take your hate out on it, it's not like it's a 2 mana 1/2 summon two 1/1s... 😒

Thanks for just explaining how unhealthy the power scale of 1 and 2 drops are in Hearthstone.

You seriously think Possesed Villager is under costed?

In a class with that hero power and cards like PO? Yep. Says something about HS that ou could even question that. Imagine a 5/5 for 5 that resumed itself - now you're imagining a card that is less impactful than PV.
Get your shit together. A 5/5 for 5 mana with drattle: summon a 5/5 is two 4.5 mana bodies in 1 card which is very different from two 0.5 mana bodies in 1 card. And you're saying this is less impactful than Possessed Villager. Are you trying to get insulted or what?
Not the sharpest knife in the draw are you, but perhaps the most obnoxious if that's any consolation.

It really is obscene that cards like Mana Wyrm, Tunnel Trogg, Flame Imp, Possessed Villager cost just 1 mana tbh. Not only are they undercosted but they come out often on literally the very first turn of the game meaning the opponent is forced to immediately answer it or the game is basically over, the snowball has begun.

I don't know what your talking about dood. I put a Kindly Grandmother, and a Cloaked Huntress with a couple of Ice traps and a Flame Trap into my Midrange Hunter and I have been having great success. Oh wait, I'm the problem aren't I. lol

I'm kidding but only kind of. I thought this new set would push aggro and after trying a few new decks with the cards so far that seems to be almost 100% the case.

Hunter feels A LOT! stronger. Zoo is the same you can put in new cards you can not still works about as well. Beast Druid curves out quite a bit faster and it hasn't even got its final form on yet.

Paladin is a bright spot for Control though that Chess Piece is working better then anyone thought. Turns out you just need all your cards to heal. Who knew?  Priest seems like it may have some potential I don't think that potential has been realized we will have to see. Right now the Priest cards are making strong but wildly inconsistent decks which is basically Priests thing lol. Wild inconsistency.

The issues with control will remain for control Paladin tbh. Yeah you have a ton of tools but most of them cost 4 or more and it's pretty easy not to draw them in time. Meanwile your opponent has drawn perfectly on curve every single turn by virtue of the fact that their entire deck costs 3 or less and those minions are high impact, undercosted and sticky. Particularly when aggro can refill it's hand (warlock) and the board (basically anyone) very easily, so you're looking at needing about 3 board clears before your big minions start dropping and that's not even accounting for all the incidental healing you need to do.
When 1 and 2 drops are so incredibly powerful, viable control decks are going to be extreme anomalies rather than a natural part of the meta game.

The problem is that these tempo interruptions and board clears have become really bad over time, because minions got stronger and stronger while comeback cards have stayed the same or got weaker/rotated out. This is why we only have Tempo-decks right now, since no non-tempo deck can effectively punish them anymore.

Despite playing since launch I can't really remember how it felt when the meta did swing more than it does - whether it was fun or not. I wonder if Blizz feel AoE is not fun enough?
I think it's important every class has the ability to survive and make mid-game tempo swings, even if they have different ways of doing it. Right now Warrior is given basically all the strong single target removal and AoE spells in the game, plus Fiery War Axe which imo is the best card in the game bar perhaps Mana Worm.
But most of all it's just so demoralising that games are decided precisely by cards like FWA and Mana Worm. 8 mana legendaries are relatively low impact compared to a turn 1 Mana Worm or turn 2 Totem Golem, and that's even before your lucky Tuskarr rolls.
And given your mulligan is unlikely to offer you much at all in the way of options for a turn 1 and 2 play, you're basically looking at a game in which outcomes are more or less decided by your mulligan. Did you draw an answer to their 1 drop? No? See ya. Did you not draw a 1 or 2 drop at all? Just concede... Unless you're Warrior.

Maybe 4 if you include lucky Barnes.

I know this is nothing new but the more time passes and the more cards are released the more you can see through it all to a game that is basically about who draws the best 1 and 2 drops for the first few turns and has unbeatable tempo into the mid and late game.

Sure new cards means more ways to win.. But they're just a veneer over what basically boils down to "did you draw a snowballing 1 drop on turn 1?" "did you draw Fiery War Axe by turn 2" etc. and there's very little else to the game than that when you distill it down.

I feel dumb for only just now realizing how good this card is with Paladin cards. Kodo doesn't work with Keeper of Ulderman and is random. The 6 mana slot also really wasn't that good in Dragon Paladin. Dragon Paladin wasn't good before, but this card could really change that.

Eh, I think Dragon Paladin still needs a bit more. Hearthstone is a game of 1 drops and 2 drops, even when you're dropping 8 mana legendaries the game is more or less decided by how things panned out on turn 1-4. Dragon Paladin is getting the 3 drop but there's not really any 1 or 2 drop to back it up.
Possible will just have to roll with Doomsayer and hope that's enough, but Blizzard know this is how their game works and the fact they haven't printed an early game for Paladin in Standard means they don't want it to be a top tier class. They seem to be rotating through which classes have early games: Warlock always will but Paladin has lost theirs, Shaman loses it's early game next rotation, Druid is getting it's solid early game now.. The only class that is allowed to function without one is Warrior by virtue of it's endless cheap removal and Brawl.
If anyone can think of a 1 and 2 drop for Dragon Pala then please lemme know because other than Doomsayer I can't see anything.

do you have any statistics on this list? like what winrate at what rank? the list looks very interesting

12/16 wins from ranks 9 to 4 but I didn't keep track of the specific matchups, it actually took me by surprise. I had been working on the deck for some time without as much success, but the inclusion of Flame Jugglers and Harvest Golems really solidified the early game and in a meta full of Zoo and Shaman it suddenly took off.
I'll make a video and post some stats shortly.

Re running Bilefins and Stewards, there is already a deck that does that, it's called aggro paladin, this is midrange Paladin!
Swapping Bilefins with Juggler, doesn't make you midrange. In the same context, you shouldn't run N'zoth and Cairne because there is already a deck that runs them and it's control.
Combined with Stewards it does demand a different deck and strategy. I agree that those synergies are strong and if you want to go all out with divine shield you can, but that takes the form of an aggressive zoo-ish eboladin deck. That's fine but that's specifically what I am trying to provide an alternative to. The 2, 3 and 4 drops in this deck are chosen for tempo.

Re Selfless Hero, as nogoat says it's a bit of a trap to try and set it up for specific combos like that, really if it procs the way you want it to it's a bonus. It's strength is in forcing your opponent to play around it, rather than playing around it yourself, because such plays are usually inefficient - so let them make that inefficient play, kill your Selfless Hero, laud themselves for negating it's proc while you plough on with the rest of your deck after they've wasted 2 mana on a ping that left the board for you. It's deathrattle is more valuable later in the game or when brought back with Nzoth, in the early game I would just focus on board control and tempo by whatever means is in your hand.

also, how good is Selfless Hero with only 1 2drop?

I´d also definetely want to include an Equality

It's really quite fine, you don't need to rely on a T1 Selfless Hero T2 2-Drop. Proccing it on an Abusive Sergeant is probably the best early game play.
In the meta I'm seeing, zoo, shaman and tempo warrior, equality is just not worthwhile. It was cut from many midrange Paladin decks prior to WoToG for the same reason, it's often better to just play a strong minion and push through. You can certainly try it and let me know if it works for you but I was running it as a one of initially but I didn't find it essential.
Big problems I would rather deal with using Aldor and Uldaman, their bodies keep up the pressure.
