posted a message on Barrens - This meta has issues, but I really enjoy it. Do you?

At first, Lunacy Mage was working just fine for me yesterday until I got to Diamond 1 with 3 Stars then started going like 1-8 since then and dropped back down to Diamond 4. Considering how many times I face Paladin and just got wrecked by then, I finally gave up and played Secret Paladin the rest of the day.

I managed to hit Legend for the first time last night after playing all day long.

Ever since then, I lost like 12 times in a row, most of them to Paladin. I hasn't seen any Warrior or even Warlock since I have been in Legend.

I am just glad I don't have to do the Legend grind again. This Standard meta sucks big time.

posted a message on Rewards Track Refresh & Diamond Cards

No argument here. That was my biggest issue with the Basic cards. I got both Normal and Golden of almost all of them (only because I still have yet to level up all classes to 60) but yet I can't DE the Normal ones because I know I will not use them again since I have the Golden versions.

Now I have to look at 2 Normal Mark of the Wild AND 2 Golden Mark of the Wild. Yuck. Apparently, I can fix that once the next Core Set is released.

Good news is, at least for me, that I can DE the Normal copies once I get the Golden ones from the Rewards track but it is still not good for players who don't want the golden copies like the F2P players. They should make it where you can only get the Golden versions from the Rewards track but allow you to disenchant them afterwards. Same with the other Legendaries like the Shadow Hunter and Transfer Student that was given out for free.

posted a message on Rewards Track Refresh & Diamond Cards

I guess one of the questions I have is if the Diamond treatment is going to replace the Golden version for those cards or would, for example Blademaster Samuro, have both a Golden and Diamond version of the card.

I am assuming the latter but I wish they cleared that up.

Another question is if the first question is true, if I have the Diamond Samuro in a deck full of Golden cards, would it give me the Golden coin if I go second or do I need to get a Golden copy of Samuro to make that work?

posted a message on Horde Operative = nice secret mage tech?

I do think people is underestimating Horde Operative a bit.

While it is a weaker effect overall against Secret-based decks, this card does give you extra cards that can also affect the Secret-playing opponent as well for basically free. Add that with a solid stat line for a 3-mana minion and you got one of the better "tech" cards if you ever want to play one because there is barely any cost to get extra cards from the classes that is playing Secrets.

Eater of Secrets is far better if you need to get rid of the Secrets the turn you are ready to win the game but against the non-Secret players, it's really bad for the stats. A 2/4 for 4 is extremely underwhelming but that is the deck building cost for such a powerful tech effect on a Neutral body.

There is powerful competitive decks out there that can match up with Secret Mage already that can just slot one of them in their builds (if not 2 if they have the space) and turn the Secret Mage matchup from a 50/50 to more like a 70/30 or 80/20 due to the free cards. Don't forget Hunter, Paladin, and Rogue. For the decks that it doesn't affect, it is a solid 3/4 for 3 on tempo turns.

This is basically like Bad Luck Albatross with a more defensive stat line that works against far more classes than just the Highlander archetype. Unless I REALLY need the Secrets to be removed, I will gladly take an extra 2-3 Secrets as leverage and knowledge over my opponent for basically free and work around them then.

After all, your opponent needs to do the same with the free Secrets you just gained.

posted a message on Tickatus is good or bad for this game because...
    Quote from Pherosizm >>

So, yes - I think Tickatus is frustrating to play against - but he is a pretty heavy hit-or-miss card and has some huge downsides that keep him in check.

Yep. This is my opinion as well.

Clearly this card has been very polarizing, but I feel like most of people's complaints are not about design of the card and the effect on the meta, but more like, "I don't like this effect on my deck, and it happened like once, so it's ruining the entire game."

Out of like 10 games, I might see one warlock, and it may or may not even have Tickatus. So what's the big deal?

I'm sure we'll find out (again) before this thread gets closed. :)

I wish I can say that. The class I face against the most during this Standard season is Warlock and the majority would be able to lock down my early pressure and eventually drop Tickatus on me.

At this point, I am basically done with anything midrange/control and is either going to join them or play strictly aggro. I can't think of anything that isn't aggro that is consistent in beating that deck.

I would love to see Tickatus get nerfed by decreasing the cards milled if they have to keep the effect in game. Milling 5 AND getting a 8/8 is simply way too good of the deal especially when you can clone it and search for it.

Thank you for the poisonous suggestion everyone. I couldn't stand this brawl but used Rogue Poisonous and got the one and done win.

    Good riddance.

posted a message on The Road to Level 50 - What's Your Choice?
    Quote from Livtraser >>

If you want a paladin portrait, you can get Lady Liadrin, just by installing WoW and get to lvl 20, the game is free to play to a certain level (or perhaps its a trial or something like that), I did it some time ago. At lvl 50 I chose Garosh because I didn't have any Warrior skin, and tbh I don't really like any of the lvl 50 Portrait except the Rogue, but I have Maiev and I think she looks better.

Oh, well, I do have Lady Liadrin. I had her for quite some time now but I am also not feeling her too much as my preferred option either. I have to check if I have any others. I know I don't have Sir Annoy-O but, even if I did, that would succeed in annoying even me.

Not to mention I basically got my preferred options for basically every other class except for Rogue and Paladin and I am fine with Maiev as my Rogue option. I am sure I will get Valeera next set though.

I went with Uther since I don't have a decent Paladin skin I actually do like. I do have the Headless Uther but it having the same voice lines as OG Uther just doesn't fit the Halloween theme of the skin.

Valeera would be my next choice but I don't mind using Maiev instead in the meantime.

posted a message on Which free legendary you got after patch?

    Zai, the Incredible

I don't see this as a card that I would play in Demon Hunter immediately but it is something to consider long-term because this would offer a ton of value if given the time.

I am OK with this since I want Deck of Lunacy to be Golden. Less dust wasted this way.

posted a message on New Mage Legendary Card Revealed - Deck of Lunacy

I am confused by how C'thun is going to work mechanic wise. I am going to wait until the expansion is live before I consider using it in the deck.

I would love to put the new Yogg in here too but I do feel like there is enough to make a competitive Spell-only Mage deck now. It is just the matter of choosing the right cards. I am still tinkering with it.

Nonetheless, I am looking forward to the craziness that is to come. Good times ahead. :)

Oh yeah. Day 1 Golden Craft.

Spell Mage looks like it is going to be even more fun after this expansion. I honestly can't wait.

posted a message on The Cupcake Card Back Is Now Available In The In-Game Shop
    Quote from Dirty_Dogie >>

I doubt they'd re-release pre-order exclusive card backs since people paid for them (with the bundle)

They can re-release them, actually. Just have to attach an actual price to it (and can't be brought with gold).

In fact, I am sure they will do that at some point. Same with any prerelease bundle avatars.

If they do, I am cool with it. All I care about is if I have it. For example, I am not concerned with Madam Lazul or The Thunder King becoming more accessible to other players.

posted a message on WILD Deck Spotlight: Pain Warlock - Top 150 Legend

I went against this deck once yesterday in Wild and got ran over like trash. Darkglare came out on Turn 3 and then 2 more minions later had a full board afterwards with a Molten Giant. Next turn, another full board with a Flesh Giant (or vice versa).

I played as though it was another Mechathun Warlock deck since I can't beat that deck without some quick aggression and was surprised by the new build. I will definitely keep an eye out for this going forward.

posted a message on Does everyone like that this game has gone "full casino mode"?
    Quote from Keema >>

If you understand that the game is no longer competitive, and the HS esports scene is a complete joke, you can still enjoy the game for the casino cluster f*ck it has become.

If, instead, you think HS is about skill, and you aspire to be a pro, you will learn to hate it.

That's basically me except I knew that from the beginning. In fact, that was the biggest reason why I am willing to spend money on Hearthstone because games can be a huge casino mess at times. Frankly, I love it.

Yeah, it is very frustrating not to make it to Legend once during my 4-5 years of playing. Got to Rank 1 with 3 stars with the old ranking system and then got to Diamond 3 with this system but never could finish the final push to Legend and yet I still enjoy the game because of the RNG along with some level of skill to go with it. I can make solid logical plays to put myself in the best position and then use my RNG cards for the game states that I have the highest chance of pulling ahead (or getting back in the game, depending on where I stand).

If you thought Hearthstone is basically another version of Magic the Gathering (where the only RNG you have to deal with, for the most part, is what cards you draw or mill throughout the game), you are definitely playing the wrong game.

posted a message on Trial By Felfire Solo Adventure Challenges - Launch Today!

When I beat the first 3 bosses on the first attempt using Galakrond Highlander Shaman (I had to get Kazzak to fatigue to finally beat him), I was thinking that this may be a little bit too easy until I got destroyed on the 4th boss.

And I did it just to complete the 3-pack quest.

If the reason why this is relatively easy is because we can't use Wild cards, I can see the complaints however, like I have noticed, the difficulty is much lower than previous Heroic Adventure modes so I can see Blizzard's side to this too. Besides, it is not like there is a ton of players with extensive Wild collections and the "reward" is not that great in the end.

I actually like it this way. Makes it as available to players as possible but keep it somewhat challenging.
