Any replacement for Pit Lord? I just spent all my dust and I already need to disenchant enough for 2 Mountain Giants.
Edit: I just replaced it with a copy of Twisting Nether and it seems to be working out. 3-0 so far, really fun deck that actually beats aggro. +1 from me
I believe when The Boomsday Project is released, Goblins vs. Gnomes should be brought back to the shop for gold for budget players who would like to get into wild. Plus it would fit thematically, and GvG is my favorite expansion.
I can see some nice WIld synergies. A deck with 2x Frostbolts, Ice Lances, Forgotten Torches, Sorcerer's Apprentices, maybe even a Freezing Potion to get the ball rolling. Paired with Bloodmage Thalnos or maybe some other form of Spell Damage or new mechanic that gets added, Miracle Mage could become a new archetype. (This potential combo could be up to about 38 damage if you roll right)
Hello everyone! Let me start this off with a bit of an introduction. Starting today, I will be making a weekly post titled: Let's take a look back at: Insert hearthstone thing here. The point of this is to just talk about things that have happened in Hearthstone in a fun sort of blog way I guess. I'm not really a popular user so this is really just for fun on my end, but it would be an added plus if it started to catch on or gain a bit of popularity. Anyway, I am always open to events and suggestions to write about in my next post. So without further adieu, I am going to go into The Year of the Kraken.
Ah, The Year of the Kraken. The beginning of major gimmicks in card sets and failed deck archetypes. Sorry for those of you who enjoyed The Year of the Kraken, I'll try to be as unbiased as possible throughout this article, but who could forget the monstrosities known as Patches the Pirate, Raza the Chained, Jade Idol, Flamewreathed Faceless, or even the whole deck archetypes of Jade Druid and and Pirate Warrior. And who would remember those "cards" known as Sergeant Sally, Fel Orc Soulfiend, Darkspeaker, and dare I even mention The Boogeymonster or Moroes? Then there are the gimmicks and failed deck archetypes I mentioned. Whispers of the Old Gods came in with a few interesting legendaries, I'll go more into them later, but do you remember the "corrupted" versions of classic legendaries? I am of course talking about Nat, the Darkfisher, Hogger, Doom of Elwynn, and Mukla, Tyrant of the Vale. Were they cool ideas? Yeah, I think so, but they were sadly poorly executed. Then you had C'Thun decks, which were only really relevant in the time between Old Gods and Gadgetzan. Then with Gadgetzan there was the whole gang thing, but I'll admit that was actually pretty nice, and I think each gang actually served its purpose and fit thematically. The Kabal classes used spells, the Grimy Goon classes buffed weapons (Hobart Grapplehammer) and minions WITH weapons, and the Jade Lotus druids *cough* I mean classes used well, jade stuff. I feel like I'm not necessarily giving Karazhan enough attention, but I feel like compared to the 3 other adventures it's just lacking. With Blackrock Mountain we had dragons, Naxxramas gave us some cool Deathrattles, and League of Explorers gave us the Discover mechanic and Reno Jackson >:(. Karazhan just gave us some portals and only a few cards that still hold relevance, but again I'll go into that shortly.
Now, I can't be too hard on The Year of the Kraken. I thought there were some amazing ideas, super fun cards, and just overall future game changing things added to the mix. Warning: this section will have a lot of cards.
Old Gods: At this point, a lot of people know the meme about "4 mana 7/7", and this expansion is to thank for that. Other than that though, despite knocking on it earlier, I personally like C'Thun decks, but I just wish they got some more support. But so I don't take up all of your time, my list of best overall cards from this expansion include: N'Zoth, the Corruptor, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound, Evolve and every card that evolves that mechanic (Haha get it? I said evolves instead of involves), Fandral Staghelm, pre-nerf Yogg-Saron, Hope's End (I mean post nerf Yogg can still make some memes), Thing from Below, Rallying Blade, Cabalist's Tome, and probably a few more minor ones.
Gadgetzan: I feel like outside of this article, I just don't give Gadgetzan enough credit, most likely because I've decrafted and unpacked Sergeant Sally about 3 times now, but oh well I guess, life goes on. Anyway, Gadgetzan gave birth to some pretty fun cards and deck archetypes. Starting off our list, we have either a 2 mana Summon The Lich King from your opponent's hand, or a 2 mana Summon a N'Zoth, the Corruptor or pre-nerf Raza the Chained from your opponent's hand and make them concede because you killed their combo. I am of course talking about Dirty Rat. Then you have some other defining cards like Kazakus, Kun the Forgotten King, the handbuff and jade mechanics as a whole (too many cards to list), Volcanic Potion, Devolve, Abyssal Enforcer I guess?, Kabal Crystal Runner (but not really until Kobolds gave us Aluneth), looking back at it every single Priest card except for Mana Geode, and probably a few other ones I forgot to mention.
With that out of the way, I realized there isn't really much left for me to go over. So with that said, overall, The Year of the Kraken was not a bad year for Hearthstone. It was the first year that they implemented the Standard and Wild formats, and in my opinion that's a pretty groundbreaking point in a card game's career.
I also hope you enjoyed my little article. Let me know what you think in the comments, and let me know what topics I should go into in the future. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to seeing what everyone thinks. Regardless, see you next Saturday/Sunday depending on where you are.

Karazhan: Like I said before, I think this expansion was a little lackluster, but it still had its hits. Some of these cards include: Arcane Giant, Firelands Portal, Swashburglar and Ethereal Peddler (which honestly set Burgle Rogue (aka the most fun deck in the game) at playable status), 4 mana 1/1 Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound into a 10/10 Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound *cough again, sorry* I mean Barnes, and who could forget the most impactful cards of them all. I'm obviously talking about Purify and Wicked Witchdoctor. Oh yeah, Netherspite Historian, Medivh, the Guardian, and Do you wanna cast a spell?? I wanna cast a spell! were pretty big cards too. (Babbling Book)
Gadgetzan: I feel like outside of this article, I just don't give Gadgetzan enough credit, most likely because I've decrafted and unpacked Sergeant Sally about 3 times now, but oh well I guess, life goes on. I realized that, still 6 damage though! Haha. I am also considering replacing something with Doppelgangster or Saronite Chain Gang to summon some extra Shudderwocks

Charged Hammer makes your hero power "Deal 2 damage". You need to have that active first
