Can I assume that Pirate Warrior decks get tougher above rank 5 or so? Only because they aren't half as terrifying at the lower levels here than seemingly made out to be - I'm guessing this is in part due to more misplays at this sort of level?
That's a legitimate question. (Not trolling) Sure, I've lost a couple against them but so far the one's I've come up against seem to crumble after you drop a few taunts and removals. I'm playing heavy Dragon Priest and Undying Shaman at the moment, so that might be partly why I do well against this deck perhaps.
I have a couple of times now come across someone who plays Barnes and it pulls out Ysharrj and then another Ysharrj. And the fact I have only ever seen it do this leads me to wonder - do they not put any other minions in the deck? What's the deal there? How do they manage to get Ysharrj TWICE every time without fail?
Many people these days (myself included) click Greetings at the start of a match to show politeness, then auto-squelch. This is because it prevents the distraction that you get from emote-spammers (and being wound up by them if you luck out in the RnG etc).
It's a tactical gameplay element really. Nothing personal against the opponent.
For pure opinion, I would probably go Druid - there's better Shaman decks out there right now.
But obviously everyone's experiences will vary. Best to go with whichever one fits your collection best I would say. If it's a tie then personally I'd pick Druid. Good ramping, deck-cycling for cards and excellent card-draw to pull those Jade Idols out quickly.
i dont like harrison because normaly is bad, youhave to fight against the right deck and have'it in your hand in the right moment, and destroying weapons is not that good efect either, i experiment a lot, i' am complete imcapable of use the same deck in more than 10 times for week, an have found, that i prefer an okay taunt, removal or draw efect than harrison. sorry for my english, not my native languaje
Like any situational card, it will have good moments and bad. I used to not rate this card very highly back when it first came out.
But that was until I dropped it down against a Rogue who had just played his Assassin's Blade. :-D
4 free cards and 5/4 minion on the board for just 5 mana? Yes please!
Pirate nerf will mainly induce salt in players who crafted Patches, as Patches won't be nerfed, thus no dust refund.
I vaguely recall Brode mentioning a nerf to both STB and Patches, but I could be mistaken.
In any case, it depends on what the nerf is. A simple nerf to StB isn't going to be too detrimental as it's a small change at best. And Rogue Pirate is still insane (if they don't nerf patches)
I wouldn't say it's lame, but it's definitely an RnG game. You honestly couldn't play it and then claim otherwise.
That doesn't mean to say there aren't other factors involved, but RnG is one of the biggest factors involved. (Especially when every other card and it's mum has the word "random" somewhere on it)...
Don't forget that if you get duplicates then you can get the full Dust value for them if the card gets changed (as opposed to the usual cut-down price).
I mention this only because it seems highly likely that STB and/or Patches might catch a nerf soon (from Brode's comments) so hold off dusting them for now.
Being a blue rare, STB comes up fairly often (I have about 4 now I think), so worth holding onto for now.
Before the recent Gadgetzan expansion I didn't see a great deal of Reno decks (as opposed to all the ones people are now using to counter the Pirate Decks).
people are playing pirates to counter the Reno decks. you got it backwards.
Well, that's just my experience - I used to rarely come across Reno decks before. Or it's possible that I did and they were so ineffective that most of the time they didn't register.

A question on Ysharrj actually.

I was playing my Secret Mage yesterday and got my best (for this deck) turn 1 (Mana Ring) draw:
Mana Wyrm + Ring + Kabal Lackey + Counterspell
(Giving me a 3/3, a 2/1 and protection from removal)
While it's by no means the "best" turn 1 available out there, it got me wondering what other folks' dream turn 1 plays are.
And yes, you can include Patches if that's what floats your boat! ;-)

No, I get it.
Have you never heard of complicit anti-trolling or something?
